A gilded pair of carved teak wedding chairs with white buttoned backs, made to order by Brown Rabbit.

The pair is the point. Both are set out from one rod and carved in parallel, so the crests, the buttoning grids, the stud lines and the seat heights agree - which is what the camera picks up when the two are side by side on a stage.

They are also made to be used afterwards. The seat is sprung and webbed like any drawing-room chair rather than being a stage prop, so the pair goes on to live in a hall, a bedroom or either side of a fireplace once the day is done.

White as photographed or any fabric you like, and the frame can be gold, silver, champagne or ivory. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed in writing before production.

A chair that will be photographed is finished differently from one that will only be lived with, and the difference is in how the gold is burnished.

Under a lamp, a softly burnished gilding looks warm and deep. Under the bright, often frontal light used at an event, that same finish can read flat, because the light comes from the same direction as the camera and there are no shadows to give the carving depth.

So on a pair intended to be seen under bright light our artisans burnish harder on the outermost edges - the crest tips, the top of each scroll, the front of the arm volutes - and leave the recesses quieter than usual. That exaggerates the contrast between high and low, and it is what keeps the carving legible when the light is flattening everything.

Tell us how the chairs will mostly be seen and we finish accordingly. It is the same timber, the same carving and the same gold; only the burnishing changes, and it changes a great deal.

Frame: solid teak throughout, hand-carved by master Indian artisans and gilded.

Composition: supplied as a pair, set out from a single rod and carved in parallel so both chairs agree.

Structure: tall shaped back with pierced foliate crest; arms rolling into carved volutes; carved apron; cabriole legs.

Upholstery: buttoned back with crystal or covered buttons; studded frame edges; sprung and webbed seat.

Finish: gold as photographed, with burnishing weighted to suit whether the chairs will be seen under bright light or lamplight; silver, champagne and ivory available.

Sizes: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Photography: images on this page are photographs of the actual product, not renders.

White upholstery and gilded carving are packed to opposite priorities - one needs cleanliness, the other needs clearance.

The upholstery is covered first with a clean breathable wrap that will not transfer, because a mark on white shows immediately. The buttoned backs are given standoff boards on foam blocks so nothing presses into the crystal buttons.

The crests and arm volutes are capped individually, and the studded edges are given channel protection that sits beside the studs rather than on them.

Each chair is crated separately. Everything goes into laminated foam, bubble wrap and fitted wooden crates. Multi-layer protective packaging is standard and dent-free arrival is guaranteed.

Free delivery anywhere in India is included in the price for the pair - no separate freight charge, no distance loading, no small-town surcharge.

Production begins once your dimensions, upholstery and finish are confirmed in writing. If the chairs are needed for a fixed date, tell us that date at the time of order and we will tell you honestly whether it is achievable before you commit.

The shipment is tracked and our team stays reachable throughout. Dent-free arrival is guaranteed and it is our responsibility to honour.

Tell us your doorway, stair and lift dimensions when you order and we plan the crates around them before the chairs leave the workshop.

Brown Rabbit warrants the solid teak frames and their joinery for 20 years on both chairs - seat rails, leg joints, back frames, arm structure and crest fixings.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs with the pair for as long as you own them, resting on teak's natural termite resistance and confirmed in writing.

These are built as furniture rather than as props, with sprung and webbed seats, so they are made to be used for decades after the day they were bought for. Buttoning can be re-tensioned and covers remade without disturbing the gilded frames.

Written warranty terms are issued with your order so the cover is agreed before production begins.
