This is a rectangular centre table in hand-carved solid teak, made to order in whatever length your room needs. A rectangle is the right shape when a centre table has to sit in front of a three seater with chairs on either side - a square leaves the ends of the seating unserved, and a round table wastes the space it occupies.

Master Indian artisans build it entirely by hand from seasoned solid teak. The lattice on the apron is cut as a ground with the shells and scrolls carved over it, which is what gives the apron its depth; the legs are shaped from thick solid blanks so the curve follows the grain.

You set every dimension. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed in writing before production. It comes with a 20-year warranty on the teak frame and joinery, a lifetime warranty against termite damage, free PAN-India delivery with guaranteed dent-free arrival, and multi-layer protective packaging.

The curved stretcher between the legs is the part of this table doing the quiet structural work, and it is far harder to make than the straight one it replaces.

A table with cabriole legs has a weakness: the legs meet the frame at a single point each, and any sideways push - someone knocking it, or dragging it across a floor - tries to fold the frame into a parallelogram. A stretcher tying the four legs together resists that, which is why traditional tables have one.

A straight stretcher is simple: two members, a cross-halving where they meet, done. This one is serpentine in plan, so each arm curves away and back before it reaches the centre, and each has to be cut from a wide blank so its grain follows its own curve. Where the four arms meet, they rise together onto a small raised platform - which means the joint at the middle is not just a lap but a lap at a change of level, with all four pieces arriving at exactly the same height.

Get one arm a millimetre high and the platform sits crooked; get one arm's curve wrong and the whole cross looks lopsided from above. It is dry, exacting work under a table almost nobody looks at.

Material: solid teak throughout, hand-carved by master Indian artisans. No veneer, plywood or engineered board.

Top: solid teak with a moulded edge.

Apron: fine lattice ground with carved shells and scrolls over it, on all four faces.

Legs: carved cabriole legs with shells at the knees, finishing in claw feet.

Stretcher: serpentine four-arm stretcher rising to a central platform, jointed at a change of level.

Joinery: traditional joinery at every junction.

Finish: warm brown hand polish with silver highlights on the raised carving. Gold, antiqued tones or a plain polish are also available.

Size: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Photography: images on this page are of the actual product, not renders.

Claw feet and a low stretcher are the two things that get damaged when a long table is moved through a house, so both are protected before anything else.

Each claw foot gets a deep shaped foam collar that stands proud of the toes. The stretcher is wrapped along its full length and its central platform collared separately, since it sits low and catches thresholds.

The lattice apron is given a continuous foam strip along all four faces so pressure is spread rather than landing on the raised shells, and the moulded edge of the top is covered with a smooth soft layer laid along its length. A rigid panel goes over the face of the top. Corrugated panels then build a rigid shell around the table, the base is blocked and braced, and the outer carton is edge-reinforced so stacked weight in transit is carried by the packaging. Everything unwraps by hand.

Free PAN-India delivery is included in the price - no zone rates, no distance surcharge, no length surcharge. The table costs the same delivered to Coimbatore as to Kanpur.

Dent-free arrival is guaranteed. It leaves in multi-layer protective packaging, travels with handlers briefed on carved furniture, and is checked at every transfer point. If anything is not right when you open it, tell us and we make it right - the guarantee sits with us, not with the transporter.

Because the table is made to order, production begins once your dimensions and finish are confirmed in writing. On a long piece it is worth sending doorway and stairwell measurements at enquiry so we can confirm it will reach the room. We share a realistic timeline, keep you updated through carving and polishing, and send a dispatch note with an expected delivery window.

The solid teak and its joinery carry a 20-year warranty - the top and its frame, the apron rails, the leg joints, the legs, and the stretcher and its central lap joint. If a joint opens or a member fails within those twenty years, we repair or replace it.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs alongside it and never expires. Teak's natural oils are what termites avoid, and our seasoning and finishing routine is built around preserving them, so the timber is guaranteed for as long as the table is yours.

On a long table, racking is the failure that actually happens - not breakage, but joints slowly loosening as the frame is pushed sideways over the years. The stretcher exists to stop it and the warranty stands behind it. All of it is built from start to finish in our own workshop by the master Indian artisans who make every piece we sell, from timber we season ourselves.
