A lounge chair with a gilded solid teak frame and a loose-cushioned seat in blue and gold damask. It is made to be sat in for a while - a reading corner, a bedroom window, the side of a fireplace, or a hotel suite where a single chair has to look like it belongs to the room.

Master Indian artisans carve the frame by hand from seasoned solid teak. The show wood is left visible right around the chair, so the gilded line of the frame draws the whole silhouette while the upholstery fills it. Padded arm pads sit on top of the gilded arms, so you get the look of a show-wood chair with a soft place to rest your elbows.

Everything is made to order. Choose gold, silver, champagne or a plain polished teak finish, choose the fabric, and set the size. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed in writing before production. The chair comes with a 20-year warranty on the teak frame and joinery, a lifetime warranty against termite damage, free PAN-India delivery with guaranteed dent-free arrival, and multi-layer protective packaging.

Look at the seat cushion on this chair and then at the seat rail below it. The damask pattern lines up across the gap. That is not luck, and it is not how most upholstered chairs are cut.

A damask this size has a long vertical repeat, and a chair has three separate surfaces stacked one above the other - the front rail, the loose cushion, and the inside back. Cut each of them from the roll as it comes and you get three unrelated fragments of pattern sitting on top of each other, which is why so many patterned chairs look busy without anyone being able to say why.

Our cutter works the other way round. The centre of one motif is found first and placed on the vertical centre line of the inside back. From there the cushion top is cut so its motif sits directly below, and the front rail below that. The roll is then cut around those fixed points, which wastes fabric - sometimes a great deal of it on a large repeat - and there is no way around that.

The result is a chair where the eye travels straight up the middle without snagging. Most people will never work out why it looks calm. They only see that it does.

Frame: solid teak throughout, hand-carved by master Indian artisans, with traditional joinery at every junction.

Show wood: gilded frame visible around the back, arms and seat rail, with carved crest, carved arm terminals and a carved centre to the front rail.

Back: shaped and padded, with an upholstered inside back set within the gilded frame.

Arms: gilded open arms with separate padded arm pads.

Seat: loose cushion over a sprung and padded platform.

Legs: cabriole front legs with carved knees and scrolled feet; shaped and gilded rear legs.

Upholstery: blue and gold woven damask as photographed. Any fabric can be used instead, including your own material.

Finish: hand-laid gold leaf on the show wood. Silver, champagne, antiqued gold or plain polished teak are also available.

Size: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Photography: images on this page are of the actual product, not renders.

The gilding on this chair sits on the outermost edge of the frame, which is exactly the surface a carton wants to press against. The packing is built around avoiding that.

Foam collars go first onto the crest, the arm terminals, the carved knees and the scrolled feet - every point that projects. A soft non-abrasive wrap covers the gilded show wood so nothing coarse ever touches leaf. Corrugated panels then form a rigid shell around the chair, and the outer carton is edge-reinforced so stacked weight in transit is carried by the packaging.

The loose seat cushion travels wrapped separately, which keeps its edges square and stops the damask being compressed under the chair's own weight. Both the cushion and the fixed upholstery get a breathable cover so dust stays out without moisture being trapped in. All of it comes off by hand, no blades needed.

Delivery is free across India. There are no zone rates, no distance charges and no freight line added at checkout - the chair costs the same delivered to Jaipur as to Chennai.

We guarantee it arrives dent-free. It leaves in multi-layer protective packaging, travels with handlers briefed on gilded and carved furniture, and is checked at every transfer. If anything is not right when you open it, tell us and we fix it - that guarantee sits with us and not with the transport company.

Because the chair is made to order, production starts after your finish, fabric and measurements are confirmed in writing. You get a timeline then, updates as it moves through carving, gilding and upholstery, and a dispatch notice with an expected window - so the delivery is something you plan for rather than something that surprises you.

The solid teak frame and its joinery are covered for 20 years. That is everything structural - the back frame, the arm rails and their joints, the seat frame carrying the cushion, and the legs. A joint that opens or a member that fails inside that period is repaired or replaced by us.

Alongside it sits a lifetime warranty against termite damage, with no expiry. Teak's own oils are what make termites leave it alone, and our seasoning and finishing routine keeps those oils working. We are comfortable standing behind the timber permanently.

These terms are possible because the chair is built start to finish in our own workshop by the master Indian artisans who make every piece we sell, from timber we season ourselves. Nothing about it is outsourced, so nothing about it is unknown to us. The warranty registers automatically with your order - your order number is all you ever need to raise a claim.
