An accent chair in solid teak, hand-carved and upholstered by master Indian artisans in a cream finish, made entirely to your measurements.

It is built to be sat in, not just looked at. The back is tall enough to support your shoulders, the arms are padded where your forearms rest, and the seat is a proper loose cushion rather than a thin pad stretched over a frame.

Because the cushion lifts out, the part that takes the most wear is also the part you can have recovered years from now without touching the carving.

Seat height, seat depth, back height and arm height are all set by you. Tell us who will use it most and we will proportion it for them.

Order singly or as a pair. Photographs on this page show the actual chair our artisans produced, not a computer render.

There are two ways to build a seat on a carved show-wood chair, and the choice decides how the chair ages.

The quick way is a fixed seat: the padding is built onto the frame and the fabric is stretched over it and tacked underneath. It looks crisp, it is cheaper, and it welds the upholstery to the chair permanently. When the seat wears - and it always wears first - the whole chair goes to an upholsterer, the carved frame gets handled, and the finish takes its chances.

The slower way is a loose cushion sitting into an upholstered frame. It costs more, because you are effectively upholstering twice: once for the frame that receives the cushion, and once for the cushion itself.

What it buys is independence. The cushion can be turned, so it wears evenly instead of hollowing in one place. It can be lifted out and cleaned properly rather than sponged in situ. And when it is eventually tired, it is recovered on a bench somewhere while the chair stays in your room, unhandled and unmarked.

The carved frame is meant to last twenty years and more. It makes very little sense to fix a five-year textile permanently to it - so we do not.

Frame: Solid teak throughout - back frame, seat rails, arms, arm supports and legs. No veneer over engineered board.

Construction: Shaped carved back frame following the buttoned outline, pierced carved crest, padded arms on shaped carved supports, deeply carved seat rail, cabriole legs with carved toes.

Upholstery: Deep-buttoned back, upholstered seat frame with a loose seat cushion, and a bolster cushion. All in fabric of your choice; we can source fabric on your behalf.

Finish: Cream with the carving in the same tone, as photographed. Any tone or gilding level can be specified.

Dimensions: Custom sizes made to order - seat height, seat depth, back height and arm height set by you, and final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Not included: The side table shown alongside is a styling piece.

Made: Handcrafted Indian luxury, produced to order by master Indian artisans.

The loose seat cushion and the bolster travel wrapped separately from the chair, each in a breathable protective cover that will not compress the filling or mark the fabric.

The chair itself is protected in two layers: a breathable cover over all upholstered surfaces, and a soft lint-free wrap over the carved and finished timber, laid on without tension so it cannot burnish the cream finish.

The pierced crest stands highest and is the most fragile part of the frame - it is guarded with a rigid cover shaped over it rather than padded against.

Both arms project beyond the seat and meet doorframes first, so each is sleeved along its length with additional protection at the carved scroll front.

The deeply carved seat rail runs the full width at knee height and is bridged so nothing presses into the carving, and each cabriole leg is padded with a rigid guard over the carved toe.

Everything then goes into a rigid outer carton braced internally. Ordered as a pair, each chair is crated separately. Dent-free arrival is guaranteed.

Free delivery is included anywhere in India, with no distance surcharge and nothing added at the end. Metros, tier-two cities and smaller towns are served on the same terms, and a pair ships on the same free terms as a single chair.

Production begins once your dimensions, fabric, carving depth and finish are confirmed in writing. The frame is carved and finished before any upholstery begins, and the cushion is made last, so the sequence is fixed - we give you an honest timeline and keep you updated as it progresses.

We dispatch through carriers experienced with carved and upholstered furniture, and send tracking details as soon as the chair leaves us.

On arrival our team brings the chair in, sets the cushions, checks it sits firm and level on your floor and removes all packaging. Dent-free arrival is guaranteed - if anything is not right, tell us and we will resolve it.

The solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty - the back frame, the seat rails, the arms and their supports, and every leg joint.

A tall-backed chair is loaded differently from a low one. Leaning back puts a long lever on the joint where the back frame meets the seat, and that is the joint that decides whether a chair is still rigid in twenty years. Ours is cut into solid teak rails and jointed rather than bracketed.

The loose cushion construction also protects the frame over time. Because the seat can be lifted out and recovered independently, the carved frame is never dismantled or handled by an upholsterer for routine wear - which is how carved finishes usually get damaged on old chairs.

The teak carries a lifetime warranty against termite damage for as long as you own the chair, from the oils in the timber rather than the finish over them.

If anything covered needs attention, send us your order details and photographs and our artisans will handle the repair or replacement.
