This is a carved coffee table in solid teak with an inset glass top, made to order in the size you need. The combination is a practical one: the glass takes the daily use, while the carving - which is what you actually bought the table for - sits below the surface where nothing is ever set down on it.

Master Indian artisans carve every element by hand from seasoned solid teak. The apron is worked in deep relief and undercut, so the scrollwork throws real shadow rather than reading as a shallow pattern, and the gold is applied to the high points only.

Every dimension, the glass specification and the amount of gold are yours to set. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed in writing before production. It comes with a 20-year warranty on the teak frame and joinery, a lifetime warranty against termite damage, free PAN-India delivery with guaranteed dent-free arrival, and multi-layer protective packaging.

The gold on this table sits only on the tops of the leaves, and it was never painted on. It was dragged.

Painting gold into carving with a normal brush fills the hollows as well as the peaks, and the moment the recesses go gold the carving stops reading as three-dimensional - the shadows that gave it depth are lit up, and the whole apron flattens into a bright, busy surface. It is the commonest way to ruin good carving with a good material.

So the gold is applied nearly dry. The brush is loaded, then most of it is worked out onto a board until barely any is left, and what remains is dragged across the surface of the carving at a low angle. A brush in that state cannot reach into a hollow - it only touches what stands proudest. Every peak takes colour; every recess is missed.

The effect is that the carving looks lit from above, because the highlights fall exactly where light would fall. It also means the depth of the carving is doing the work, not the gold - which is why the same technique on shallow, machine-cut ornament looks like nothing at all.

Material: solid teak throughout, hand-carved by master Indian artisans. No veneer, plywood or engineered board.

Top: glass panel set into a moulded teak surround, sitting in a rebate on soft blocks.

Apron: deep undercut foliate scrollwork on all four faces, under a beaded band.

Legs: carved cabriole legs shaped from solid blanks, finishing in scrolled feet.

Finish: warm brown hand polish with gold dragged onto the raised carving only. The amount of highlighting is set by you, from none to fully gilded.

Glass: thickness and tint set by you - clear, bronze or smoked, toughened if you prefer.

Size: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Photography: images on this page are of the actual product, not renders.

The undercut apron is the part to protect here: the leaves stand clear of the ground behind them, which is what makes them look right and what makes them vulnerable.

A continuous foam strip runs along all four faces so pressure is spread across the whole run rather than landing on individual leaves, and the corners - where the carving projects furthest - get deeper collars.

The glass travels in its own carton, edge-protected with dense foam and carried flat between rigid boards. On the table, the cabriole knees and scrolled feet are collared individually, a soft non-abrasive layer covers the polish and gold, and a rigid panel is fitted over the top surround. Corrugated panels build a rigid shell, the base is blocked and braced, and both outer cartons are edge-reinforced. Everything unwraps by hand.

Free PAN-India delivery is included in the price, glass and table together - no zone rates, no distance surcharge, no fragile surcharge. The same cost delivered to Bhavnagar as to Bilaspur.

Dent-free arrival is guaranteed. Both cartons leave in multi-layer protective packaging, travel with handlers briefed on undercut carving and glass, and are checked at every transfer point. If anything is not right when you open either, tell us and we make it right - the guarantee sits with us, not with the transporter.

Because the table is made to order, production begins once your size, glass specification and finish are confirmed in writing. Deep undercut carving takes real time, so we give you a realistic timeline rather than an optimistic one, keep you updated as the work progresses, and send a dispatch note with an expected delivery window.

The solid teak and its joinery carry a 20-year warranty - the top frame and its glass rebate, the apron rails, the leg joints and the legs. If a joint opens or a member fails within those twenty years, we repair or replace it.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs alongside it and never expires. Teak's natural oils are what termites avoid, and our seasoning and finishing routine is built around preserving them, so the timber is guaranteed for as long as the table is yours.

The glass is a replaceable part rather than a bonded one - if it is ever chipped, a new panel drops into the same rebate. The carving underneath it, which took the time, is unaffected. All of it is built from start to finish in our own workshop by the master Indian artisans who make everything we sell, from timber we season ourselves.
