This is a teak wood centre table with a hand-carved top, made to order in the size you need. A carved top is the most demanding kind to make, because there is nowhere for a mistake to hide - it sits at the exact height and angle where everyone in the room looks down at it.

Master Indian artisans carve every element by hand from seasoned solid teak. The top panel is worked as one continuous composition rather than repeated motifs, so the pattern flows across the whole surface, and the recess it sits in is cut deep enough for a glass cover to rest on the rim and clear the relief.

Every dimension is yours to set. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed in writing before production. It comes with a 20-year warranty on the teak frame and joinery, a lifetime warranty against termite damage, free PAN-India delivery with guaranteed dent-free arrival, and multi-layer protective packaging.

A carved top raises an obvious problem: you cannot put a cup on it. The way that problem is solved decides whether the carving survives.

The wrong answer is to carve the top flush with its rim and lay a glass sheet straight onto it. The glass then rests on the highest points of the relief - a rose here, a leaf edge there - and every weight put on the table is concentrated onto those few points. Over a year the highest details are crushed flat, and the pattern loses its peaks first, which is exactly where the carving was liveliest.

So the whole carved field is set below the level of the moulded rim, deeper than the tallest point of the relief. The glass lands on the rim alone, all the way round, and floats clear of the carving with air between them. Nothing ever touches the roses.

It sounds simple, and it is - but it has to be decided before the top is carved, because the depth of the recess governs how high the relief can stand. Carve first and you have already lost the choice.

Material: solid teak throughout, hand-carved by master Indian artisans. No veneer, plywood or engineered board.

Top: continuous floral relief carved across a recessed panel, inside a raised moulded rim sized to carry a protective glass sheet clear of the carving.

Apron: shaped and carved on all four faces with flowers at the centres.

Legs: carved cabriole legs shaped from solid blanks, finishing in scrolled feet.

Joinery: traditional joinery at every junction.

Finish: deep polished brown hand finish. Lighter or darker tones can be matched, and gilded highlights can be added.

Glass: a cut protective sheet can be supplied to sit on the rim - tell us at enquiry.

Size: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Photography: images on this page are of the actual product, not renders.

The carved top is the one surface on this table that cannot be repaired if it is damaged, so it is protected first and most heavily.

A soft non-abrasive layer is laid over the relief without being pressed into it, then a rigid panel spans the moulded rim - bearing on the rim alone, exactly as the glass will, so nothing rests on the carving at any point in transit.

The apron gets a continuous foam strip along all four faces, and the cabriole knees and scrolled feet get individual collars. Corrugated panels then build a rigid shell around the table, the base is blocked and braced, and the outer carton is edge-reinforced so stacked weight is carried by the packaging rather than the top. If a glass sheet is supplied it travels in its own carton, flat between rigid boards. Everything unwraps by hand.

Free PAN-India delivery is included in the price - no zone rates, no distance surcharge, no freight line at checkout. The table costs the same delivered to Guwahati as to Gwalior.

Dent-free arrival is guaranteed. It leaves in multi-layer protective packaging, travels with handlers briefed on relief carving, and is checked at every transfer point. If anything is not right when you open it, tell us and we make it right - the guarantee sits with us, not with the transporter.

Because the table is made to order, production begins once your size, top pattern and finish are confirmed in writing. A fully carved top takes considerably longer than a plain one, so we give you a realistic timeline rather than an optimistic one, keep you updated as the carving progresses, and send a dispatch note with an expected delivery window.

The solid teak and its joinery carry a 20-year warranty - the top panel and its frame, the apron rails, the joints where the legs meet them, and the legs themselves. If a joint opens or a member fails within those twenty years, we repair or replace it.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs alongside it and never expires. Teak's natural oils are what termites avoid, and our seasoning and finishing routine is built around preserving them, so the timber is guaranteed for as long as the table is yours.

A carved top is the part of this table that could never be replaced, which is why the recess and the glass matter as much as the joinery does. Between them, the carving is protected from daily use and the frame is warranted for two decades. All of it is built from start to finish in our own workshop by the master Indian artisans who make everything we sell, from timber we season ourselves.
