This is a carved centre table in solid teak with an inset glass panel, made to order in the size you need. The glass gives you a wipe-clean surface where cups and plates actually land, while the timber border keeps the warmth of wood at the edges where hands rest and knees pass.

Master Indian artisans carve every element by hand from seasoned solid teak. The apron is pierced in places and undercut throughout, and the gold is laid only on the highest carving so the timber remains the dominant material rather than being covered by metal.

Every dimension is yours to set, along with the glass specification. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed in writing before production. It comes with a 20-year warranty on the teak frame and joinery, a lifetime warranty against termite damage, free PAN-India delivery with guaranteed dent-free arrival, and multi-layer protective packaging.

The timber border around the glass is a mitred frame, and mitres are the joint most likely to open in a piece of furniture. This one is built so it cannot.

A mitre is two pieces meeting at forty-five degrees, and almost all of that meeting face is end grain - the weakest surface wood offers for a joint. Worse, the two halves shrink in different directions as humidity changes: one across its width, the other along its length. The result, on an ordinary mitre, is a hairline that opens at the outer corner within a couple of seasons. Everyone has seen it on picture frames.

So each corner here is reinforced with a spline - a thin tongue of teak set into a saw kerf cut across the joint, with its grain running at right angles to the mitre. The spline is long grain crossing the weak end grain, and it locks the two halves together mechanically rather than relying on glue holding end grain to end grain.

It is completely hidden once the moulding is worked over it. What you see, years later, is a corner still closed - which on a mitred frame is not a given at all.

Material: solid teak throughout, hand-carved by master Indian artisans. No veneer, plywood or engineered board.

Top: solid teak border with an inset glass panel at the centre, in a mitred frame with hidden splined corners.

Apron: deep carved shells, husk swags and pierced scrollwork on all four faces, with gold picked out on the raised carving.

Legs: carved cabriole legs shaped from solid blanks, finishing in scrolled feet.

Joinery: traditional joinery at every junction; splined mitres at the top frame corners.

Finish: deep brown hand polish with gold highlights. The amount of gilding is set by you, from none to fully gilded.

Glass: thickness and tint set by you - clear, bronze or smoked, toughened if you prefer.

Size: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Photography: images on this page are of the actual product, not renders.

The glass travels in its own carton rather than sitting in the table, edge-protected on all four sides with dense foam, faced with a soft layer and carried flat between rigid boards.

On the table itself, the deep apron carving is the exposed part - the shells and swags stand well proud of the ground behind them. Each face gets a continuous foam strip so pressure is spread rather than landing on the raised work, and the pierced sections have foam fitted into their voids so the carved bridges cannot flex.

The cabriole knees and scrolled feet get individual collars, and a soft non-abrasive layer covers the polish and gilding throughout. A rigid panel is fitted over the top. Corrugated panels then build a rigid shell, the base is blocked and braced, and both outer cartons are edge-reinforced. Everything unwraps by hand, and the glass lowers back into its rebate on arrival.

Free PAN-India delivery is included in the price, glass and table together - no zone rates, no distance surcharge, no fragile surcharge. The same cost delivered to Jaipur as to Jamshedpur.

Dent-free arrival is guaranteed. Both cartons leave in multi-layer protective packaging, travel with handlers briefed on glass and carved timber, and are checked at every transfer point. If anything is not right when you open either, tell us and we make it right - the guarantee sits with us, not with the transporter.

Because the table is made to order, production begins once your size, glass specification and finish are confirmed in writing. We share a realistic timeline at that point, keep you updated as the table moves through carving, gilding and polishing, and send a dispatch note with an expected delivery window.

The solid teak and its joinery carry a 20-year warranty - the top frame and its splined mitres, the apron rails, the leg joints and the legs. If a joint opens or a member fails within those twenty years, we repair or replace it.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs alongside it and never expires. Teak's natural oils are what termites avoid, and our seasoning and finishing routine is built around preserving them, so the timber is guaranteed for as long as the table is yours.

The mitred corners are worth naming, because on most furniture they are the joint that fails first. Splining them is extra work that only pays back years later, and it is one of the reasons we are comfortable writing a twenty-year term. All of it is built from start to finish in our own workshop by the master Indian artisans who make everything we sell, from timber we season ourselves.
