A green diwan in solid teak with a cream and gilt frame, in a restrained classical style.

Both ends scroll outward and are upholstered over, with a low back running between them, so the piece is finished on both sides and can sit anywhere in a room.

The covering is a pale green stripe, run lengthwise on the seat and vertically on the back and scrolls, with a bolster at the head.

Below the seat, a reeded apron runs the full length between gilt rosettes at the leg heads, and the sabre legs splay outward onto brass castors.

The gilding is confined to the reeding and the small details, so the cream frame stays quiet and the piece reads as light rather than grand.

Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Putting a piece of furniture on castors changes three things about how it has to be made, and none of them is the castor itself.

The first is height. A castor raises the frame off the floor by its own height, so the legs are cut shorter by exactly that amount. Skip that step and the seat sits high, which on a low day seat is immediately uncomfortable.

The second is the line of the leg. These legs splay outward in a sabre curve, and a castor must sit under the load coming down that leg, not out beyond it. If the castor plate is fitted square to the floor while the leg arrives at an angle, the leg is trying to push the castor sideways every time weight goes on it - and it will eventually work loose. So the foot is cut to present a flat, level seating that is square to the leg's line of load, and the castor is fitted to that.

The third is the fixing. A castor takes shock loads whenever the piece is moved over a threshold, so it is set into a socket in the leg rather than screwed to the underside.

What you get is a diwan you can turn to face the window and turn back again, without asking anyone for help.

Frame: solid teak throughout, hand-shaped, finished in cream with hand-applied gilt on the reeding and details.

Form: outward scrolled ends at both sides with a low back between them, finished on both faces.

Upholstery: striped covering to the back, scrolls and seat, with a matching bolster.

Seat: full-length cushion on a sprung and webbed platform.

Apron: reeded and gilt, running the full length between gilt rosettes at the leg heads.

Legs: splayed sabre legs with feet cut square to the line of load.

Castors: brass castors set into sockets in the legs, with the leg length reduced by the castor height.

Made to order: length, back height, seat depth, finish and covering are all customisable. Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Castors are removed before packing. Each is wrapped and packed in a labelled bag with its fittings, so nothing rolls, catches or scores the frame in transit.

The cream painted and gilt frame takes acid-free tissue directly against the finish, then foam padding shaped along the reeded bands - reeding is a series of raised beads and must be supported rather than pressed - then bubble wrap.

The upholstery is wrapped in clean breathable cloth and then soft polythene, with all strapping taken around the frame rails and additional foam cupped over both scroll ends.

The bolster travels in its own sleeve.

The splayed sabre legs project beyond the frame line, so each is individually foam-blocked.

Everything ships in a hardwood crate, corner-protected and marked for orientation. Multi-layer protective packaging is included on every order at no extra cost.

Delivery is free anywhere in India, with guaranteed dent-free arrival. No distance charge, no size charge and no handling fee.

Production begins once your length and covering are confirmed in writing. We photograph your actual diwan through the build - the frame in the white, the reeding and gilt, the covering, and the finished piece with the castors fitted.

On site, our team fits the castors, sets the diwan in position and checks that it runs level on all four.

Send us lift dimensions, stair turns and doorway widths ahead of dispatch so the route can be planned. Every photograph on this page is of the actual product, not a render.

The solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty - the seat rails, the back frame, both scroll frames, the reeded apron and the leg joints, along with every joint between them.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs with the diwan and never expires. Teak's own oils are its first protection and our warranty stands behind them.

The sprung and webbed platform, the upholstery and the castor sockets are covered against manufacturing defect. Castors are the one moving part on a piece of furniture, and ours are set into sockets rather than surface-screwed precisely so they can be serviced or replaced without damaging the leg.

The covering and the cream and gilt finish are recorded against your order number for future matching. Contact us with your order number and we will arrange it.
