A lounger sofa in solid teak with an antique gold carved frame and two-tone upholstery.

The back sits at the head end only, buttoned and rising into a rolled scrolled head, so the whole length of the seat beyond it is open. That is what separates a lounger from a sofa: nothing at the foot to climb over.

The seat runs the full length as a single sprung, domed cushion, covered in a patterned damask, with a rounded front that curves round at the foot end.

Bolsters and a small round cushion sit at the head against the buttoned back.

Carving is used at the arm scroll, along the back rail, across the shaped apron under the seat and at the leg knees, with the antique gold applied by hand throughout.

Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

The front edge of this seat is built on a sprung edge, which is a piece of construction almost nobody sees and everybody feels.

The front edge of a seat takes more punishment than any other part of upholstered furniture. It is where people sit down, where they push up from, and where the weight lands first. Build it simply - stuff the platform and cover it - and that edge gradually collapses. Within a few years the seat has a soft, rolled-under front that no amount of plumping restores, and the crisp line the piece was designed with is gone.

A sprung edge is the traditional answer. A row of springs at the front is tied not down to the frame but to a wire run along the front edge, so the edge itself is suspended and can move. The stuffing is then built over it and stitched into a firm roll along the whole length.

It takes considerably longer to build and it uses more material. What you get is a seat front that still has its shape after a decade of people dropping onto it, and an edge that gives slightly when you sit rather than meeting you like a board.

Frame: solid teak throughout, hand-carved, finished in antique gold applied and worked back by hand.

Back: at the head end only, deep buttoned, rising into a rolled and scrolled head.

Seat: full-length domed cushion with a rounded front and a traditional sprung front edge, stitched into a firm roll.

Upholstery: two fabrics - plain on the back and head, patterned on the seat.

Cushions: bolster and round cushion at the head.

Apron and legs: shaped carved apron with a central shell, on hand-shaped cabriole legs.

Handing: built with the back to the left or the right, to your requirement.

Made to order: length, back height, seat depth and firmness, handing, finish and coverings are all customisable. Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

The sprung front edge is the part of this piece that must not be compressed in transit, so nothing is ever strapped across the seat.

The upholstery is wrapped in clean breathable cloth and then soft polythene, loosely, with all strapping taken around the frame rails rather than over the cushioned surfaces.

The gilded frame takes acid-free tissue directly against the antique gold, then foam padding shaped along each moulding, then bubble wrap, with individual foam blocking around the carved arm scroll, apron shell and leg knees.

Bolsters and loose cushions travel in their own sleeves.

Legs are detached where the design allows, sleeved in foam and boxed with blocking at the ankle.

Everything ships in a hardwood crate with corner protection at every arris and orientation and lift points marked. Multi-layer protective packaging is included on every order at no extra cost.

Delivery is free anywhere in India, with guaranteed dent-free arrival. No distance charge, no size charge and no handling fee.

Production begins once your length, handing and coverings are confirmed in writing. We photograph your actual lounger through the build - the frame in the white, the springs tied and the front edge stitched, the carving and antique gold, and the finished piece covered.

Our team carries the lounger in, fits the legs if they have travelled separately, and sets and levels it in position.

Send us lift dimensions, stair turns and doorway widths ahead of dispatch so the route can be planned. Every photograph on this page is of the actual product, not a render.

The solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty - the seat rails, the shaped front rail, the back frame, the arm scroll, the apron and the leg joints, along with every joint between them.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs with the lounger and never expires. Teak's natural oils are its own protection and our warranty stands behind them.

The sprung edge, the sprung and webbed platform and the buttoning are covered against manufacturing defect. A sprung edge is a repairable, serviceable piece of construction - unlike a foam edge, it can be re-tied and re-stitched years from now rather than replaced.

Both coverings and the antique gold finish are recorded against your order number for future matching. Contact us with your order number and we will arrange it.
