A chaise lounge in solid teak with a hand-carved show frame and deep buttoned upholstery.

The back is asymmetric by design: high and curved at the head, falling in a long sweep to a low back at the foot. That shape is what makes a chaise usable - full support behind the shoulders, an open foot end you can swing your legs onto without climbing over an arm.

The head end rolls over into a scrolled arm, carved where it meets the frame. The seat runs the full length as one cushion rather than two, so nothing interrupts it.

Carving is concentrated at the scroll, the leg knees and the shaped seat rail; the rest of the frame is left as a clean moulded line so the curve reads clearly.

It stands on carved cabriole legs, and it is built handed to suit your room.

Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

The buttoning on a curved back is set out on the frame before any covering goes near it, and that is the part that decides whether it looks right.

Deep buttoning creates a diamond grid, and a grid only reads as regular if the diamonds are the same size and the pleats between them all fall the same way. On a flat back that is easy. This back is not flat - it curves in section from top to bottom and it also changes height along its whole length, falling from high at the head to low at the foot.

Mark the button positions on the fabric and the grid will distort as soon as the fabric is pulled onto that shape. So instead the positions are marked directly onto the frame and the base, measured around the curve rather than across it, and every button is drawn down to the same depth.

The pleats are then formed by hand as each button is pulled - every one folded downwards, so no pleat sits open to catch dust.

The row nearest the top edge is the one everybody sees, so it is set out first and everything else is spaced from it.

Frame: solid teak throughout, hand-carved, with a polished show-wood frame around the back, seat rail and legs.

Shape: asymmetric - high curved back at the head end falling to a low back at the foot, with a scrolled roll-over head.

Handing: built with the head to the left or to the right, to your requirement.

Upholstery: deep buttoned back and head, single full-length piped seat cushion.

Suspension: traditional sprung and webbed seat platform.

Legs: hand-shaped cabriole legs with carved knees.

Finish: warm walnut-toned polish on the show wood, with the grain left visible.

Made to order: length, back height, seat depth, handing, timber tone and covering are all customisable. Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Upholstered furniture and carved show wood need opposite kinds of protection, and this piece has both on the same surface.

The upholstered back, head and seat are covered first in a breathable cloth wrap, then in soft polythene, so the covering is protected without being sealed against itself.

The polished show frame - the moulded back line, the carved scroll and the seat rail - is protected separately: acid-free tissue laid directly against the polish, then foam padding shaped along the moulding, then bubble wrap.

The carved cabriole legs are detached where the design allows, sleeved in foam and boxed with blocking at the ankle. Where they are integral, each leg is individually wrapped and blocked.

The whole piece then travels in a hardwood crate with corner protection at every arris and orientation and lift points marked. Multi-layer protective packaging is included on every order at no extra cost.

Delivery is free anywhere in India, with guaranteed dent-free arrival. There is no distance charge, no size charge and no handling fee.

Production begins once your length, handing and covering are confirmed in writing. We photograph your actual chaise through the build - the frame in the white, the carving, the polish, the buttoning set out and pulled, and the finished piece.

A chaise is long but low, which usually makes it easier to bring in than a full sofa. Our team carries it in, positions it and levels it on its legs, and takes the wrapping away with them.

Tell us about lift dimensions, stair turns and doorway widths before dispatch so the route can be planned in advance. Every photograph on this page is of the actual product, not a render.

The solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty. On a chaise that means the seat rails, the back frame, the scrolled head and the leg joints - everything that takes the load when someone lies down on it, which is the whole point of the piece.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs with it and never expires. Teak's own oils protect the timber from within, and our warranty is what stands behind that.

The sprung and webbed seat platform and the buttoning work are covered against manufacturing defect.

The covering and the timber tone used on your chaise are recorded against your order number. That matters years later: a chaise is the piece in a room most likely to be recovered at some point, and having the original specification on file makes that straightforward. Contact us with your order number and we will arrange it.
