A leather diwan in solid teak with a walnut show frame and deep buttoned upholstery.

Its shape is the point: a single unbroken S-curve, high and rolled at the head, dipping through the seat, rising and rolling under at the foot. Lying on it, the curve does the work - the back of the head, the shoulders and the knees are each supported without a cushion being needed anywhere.

The buttoning is carried over the entire curve, including both rolls, so the diamond field never stops.

The show frame is a slim polished line along both flanks, followed by a close row of brass nails, with a small carved motif on the outer face at the head end.

Turned legs with brass castors carry it, and the whole piece is finished on both sides so it can stand free in a room.

Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Buttoning hide is not the same job as buttoning cloth, and anyone who treats it as one produces a poor result.

Cloth has give. Pull a button into fabric and the surplus around it eases naturally into pleats - the material stretches slightly, the folds find their own way, and a skilled hand simply guides them.

Hide does almost none of that. It has very little give and it does not recover, so it cannot be persuaded into fullness; whatever surplus exists has to be planned before the button is pulled. Every pleat between every pair of buttons is therefore set deliberately - marked, folded and worked into place by hand, one at a time - and once a fold is in hide it is permanent. There is no second attempt on that pleat.

The hide is also worked warm, because warm hide is fractionally more willing, and it is buttoned in sequence from the centre outward so that no area is asked to take up someone else's surplus.

On a continuous curve like this one, with the buttoning running over two rolls and a dip, that sequence is the entire craft of the piece.

Frame: solid teak throughout, hand-shaped, with a slim polished walnut-toned show frame along both flanks.

Form: continuous S-curve - rolled head, dipped seat, rising foot rolling under into a scroll.

Upholstery: deep buttoned hide, pleats set by hand and buttoned in sequence from the centre outward.

Nailing: close-set brass nail line following the show frame on both sides.

Suspension: sprung and webbed platform beneath the curved seat.

Carving: small carved motif on the outer face at the head end.

Legs: turned legs with brass castors set into sockets.

Finished: both sides, so the piece can stand free in a room.

Made to order: length, curve, seat height, timber tone and covering are all customisable. Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Buttoned hide must not be compressed, and hide marks under pressure in a way that does not always recover, so nothing bears on the covered surface at any point.

The piece is wrapped in clean breathable cloth and then soft polythene, loosely, with all strapping taken around the frame rails only. Both rolls - head and foot - are given their own foam cradles, since they project furthest and take any knock first.

The brass nail line is protected with a soft strip run along its full length so nothing drags across the heads.

The polished show frame takes acid-free tissue directly against it, then shaped foam padding.

Castors are removed and packed in a labelled bag with their fittings, and the turned legs are individually foam-blocked.

Everything ships in a hardwood crate, corner-protected and marked for orientation. Multi-layer protective packaging is included on every order at no extra cost.

Delivery is free anywhere in India, with guaranteed dent-free arrival. No distance charge, no size charge and no handling fee.

Production begins once your length, curve and covering are confirmed in writing. We photograph your actual diwan through the build - the shaped frame in the white, the polished show frame, the buttoning worked over the curve, the nailing set, and the finished piece.

On site, our team fits the castors, sets the diwan in position and checks it runs level on all four.

Send us lift dimensions, stair turns and doorway widths ahead of dispatch so the route can be planned. Every photograph on this page is of the actual product, not a render.

The solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty - the shaped seat rails, the curved back and foot frames, the show frame and the leg joints, along with every joint between them.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs with the diwan and never expires. Teak's own oils are its first protection and our warranty is what stands behind them.

The sprung and webbed platform, the buttoning and the castor sockets are covered against manufacturing defect.

The covering and the walnut polish specification are recorded against your order number. A buttoned hide piece is a long-term object - it is normal for it to be serviced rather than replaced - and having the original specification on file is what makes that possible decades later. Contact us with your order number and we will arrange it.
