Most dressing tables come with a stool. This one comes with a chair, and the difference matters if you spend any length of time at it - a back to lean against changes a ten-minute sit from something you endure to something you settle into.

The chair is built to the table: seat height set so your elbows rest comfortably on the top, back height set so it clears the table edge when pushed in. If you would prefer a stool, we build one to the same finish instead.

The interiors are arranged to what you keep - divided compartments for jewellery in the shallow kneehole drawer, deeper sections in the side banks for bottles and boxes.

Send us the wall and your height and we build to both. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed with you in writing before production begins.

Ivory is shown; the same design is made in white, champagne, gold, walnut, espresso or natural teak, and the chair is upholstered in any fabric.

The lamps in the photograph are styling and are not part of the piece - the top is left clear for whatever you want on it.

Solid teak carcass and joinery carry a 20-year warranty, everything is covered for life against termite damage, and delivery anywhere in India is free with guaranteed dent-free arrival.

The stool became standard at dressing tables for a reason that has nothing to do with comfort: it tucks fully under the table, so it disappears when not in use. In a small bedroom that is a real advantage.

A chair is the better seat and needs more room. Its back stops it sliding all the way under, so it stands proud of the table edge - which is why chairs at dressing tables went out of fashion as bedrooms got smaller, and why they are worth revisiting in a room that has the space.

The skirt on this chair is doing something specific too. Falling to the floor, it hides the legs and makes the chair read as a soft column rather than as a piece of frame furniture, which stops a high-backed chair looking bulky beside a delicately carved table.

Our master Indian artisans set the chair's seat height from the finished table rather than the other way round, because a chair that is even slightly too high makes you sit hunched at a mirror - the one thing a dressing table cannot forgive.

Material: Solid teak throughout, including carcass, drawer boxes, mirror frame, legs and chair frame.

Mirror: Wide shaped panel set back on the table with a shelf in front, beneath a tall openwork crest pierced right through in scroll and flower.

Table: Kneehole design with a bank of two shaped, bowed drawers on each side and a shallow drawer across the kneehole. Interiors arranged to what you keep.

Base: Carved cabriole legs with pierced carved brackets at the carcass, carved apron between.

Chair: High-backed, upholstered over back and seat, with a fringed skirt to the floor and carved feet. Seat and back heights set to the finished table. Stool available instead.

Finish: Ivory as shown, and available in white, champagne, gold, walnut, espresso or natural teak.

Not included: The lamps shown are styling only.

Sizes: Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

The pierced crest is the tallest and most fragile component. Shaped foam is pressed into the openwork from both faces so every scroll is supported, and the crest is crated rigidly on its own, separate from the mirror below it.

The mirror travels in its own crate, glass faced with foam board and the shaped frame edge-guarded.

The table carcass travels with drawers secured shut, bowed drawer fronts protected, the top edge-guarded, and the pierced leg brackets foam-faced from both sides - they are thin and sit where hands grip when the piece is lifted.

Cabriole legs are collared individually. Ivory surfaces are covered first in a soft non-marking layer.

The chair travels whole with its upholstery bagged and its fringed skirt packed loose rather than compressed, since a crushed fringe does not recover. Everything is crated together with handling instructions. Every photograph here shows the actual furniture before packing - not a render.

Delivery is free anywhere in India and included in the price you are quoted for the set, with no freight, packing or handling charge added later.

Production begins once your sizes, drawer layout, fabric and finish are confirmed in writing. We give you a realistic timeline then and send photographs of your own furniture as the crest is pierced and the finish built up.

On arrival the table is carried in and levelled, the mirror and its crest mounted and squared, and the chair placed and checked with you sitting at the table - seat height against table height is the one thing worth confirming in person. We guarantee dent-free arrival, and if anything is not right, tell us and we will make it right.

The solid teak carcass and joinery are covered for 20 years - the table carcass, the drawer boxes, the mirror frame and crest, the legs, and the chair frame.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs with it for as long as you own the piece, backed by teak's own resistance and confirmed in writing.

The chair gets moved every single day, which is more use than any other part of a dressing table set, so its frame and leg joints are built to the same standard as the table rather than lighter. If it ever needs attention we repair to the original specification, which we keep on file along with the seat height we set it to.

Mirror glass is replaceable to its shaped profile, the chair re-coverable and its skirt replaceable, and the finish cleaned back and re-laid. Our own master Indian artisans do the work and explain what it involves before starting.
