Dining Table Set with Tufted Chairs in Carved Teak and Navy

A tassel on a dining chair is a lovely detail and a maintenance problem, because a tassel is the one thing on the chair that will genuinely need cleaning or replacing within its life. It hangs at the height of a passing sleeve, it collects dust in a way a flat surface does not, and its threads are the softest material on the whole piece.

Sewn permanently into the seam, it becomes something you cannot clean properly and cannot replace at all without an upholsterer opening the chair.

So ours are not sewn in. A small loop is stitched into the corner of the upholstery during covering, and the tassel hangs from a concealed hook that engages that loop. It is invisible in place, it does not move under normal use, and it lifts off between two fingers.

That means a tassel can be taken off before a set is cleaned, replaced if it wears, or removed entirely if you decide in three years that you prefer the chairs without them - which some clients do, and it is their chair.

We supply a spare pair with the set, because the one that gets caught on something is never the one you kept the receipt for.

Finish: navy lacquer with gold-picked carving; other colours and finishes available.

Joinery: mortise and tenon throughout, corner-blocked at every seat rail.

Dimensions: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

The tassels are removed before packing and travel bagged separately, so nothing pulls on them and their threads cannot be crushed. They hook back on in seconds once the chairs are in position.

A lacquered surface shows every mark a packing material can leave, so the first layer on every piece is fresh, soft, non-abrasive sheeting laid on rather than pulled tight. Chairs are crated individually and never nested.

The scroll tops of the chair backs are the widest part of each chair and are padded around their full roll. The table's glass travels in its own crate; the canted top edge and the plinth's edges are padded continuously.

Unpack the chairs first, then the base, then the top, set the glass with two people, and hang the tassels last.

Delivery is free anywhere in India for the whole set, and every piece is guaranteed to arrive dent-free. If anything is wrong when the crates are opened, correcting it is our cost, and we commit to that before you order.

Production begins once the table size, chair count, upholstery and finish are confirmed in writing. Table and chairs are made together and dispatched together so the navy and gold match exactly across every piece.

Dispatch waits for the lacquer to cure fully. We share the schedule at confirmation, update you as each stage completes, and send tracking as soon as the crates leave us.

Open every crate with the delivery team present, including the glass and the bagged tassels, and check each piece. Send us your doorway, lift and stair measurements at the order stage and we set the top size to a dimension that will reach the room.

Every frame in the set carries a 20-year warranty on solid teak frame and joinery - the table, its plinth base and each chair on identical terms.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs on every piece, resting on teak's own oils rather than on an applied treatment, and issued in writing with the set.

Both documents are tied to your order and handed over on delivery, so the record stays with you. If a covered fault appears on one piece, send photographs and we repair or replace that piece alone.

Upholstery, tassels, glass and the lacquered finish are handled separately from the structural cover. Tassels are a consumable we supply spares of and can resupply at any time, and we re-cover and re-finish our own furniture at any age with your specification kept on file.
