A wooden wardrobe built in solid timber rather than board is a different object from the one most people are sold: it can be carved deeply, it can be repaired rather than replaced, and it will outlast the room it was bought for. This one is solid teak, hand-carved by master Indian artisans.

Its character comes from the pilasters between the doors - deep gilded acanthus columns that divide the front into bays. Against them the door panels are deliberately plain, in a soft pale finish, so the eye reads structure rather than pattern.

Turned bun feet lift it clear of the floor, which makes cleaning underneath possible and keeps the base out of contact with damp floors.

Every wardrobe is made to order and fully customisable. Width, height, depth, door count, finish and interior layout are all specified by you, with custom sizes made to order and dimensions confirmed in writing before production.

The solid teak carcass and joinery carry a 20-year warranty plus lifetime cover against termite damage. Delivery is free anywhere in India, guaranteed dent-free.

Carving a wardrobe's stiles as deeply as these are carved runs directly against the one thing a stile has to do, which is hold the hinges.

The stiles between doors are where every hinge screw goes. They carry the weight of the doors, and they carry it in shear on a few screws biting into timber. Cut a deep pilaster into that member and you have removed material from precisely the place that was doing the work - which is why on cheaper furniture heavily carved stiles are almost always either fake, applied over a plain stile, or accompanied by doors that sag within a couple of years.

Our master Indian artisans carve the pilaster from the solid stile, and make it safe by deciding where the material stays. A full-width band of solid timber is left along the hinge face of every stile, behind the carving, running the whole height. The design of the pilaster is then arranged so that its deepest cuts - the hollows between the acanthus leaves - fall on the show face and towards the outer edge, never into that band.

The result is a stile that looks like it has been carved through and is, where it matters, as solid as a plain one.

Material: solid teak carcass, doors and frame, hand-carved. No veneer, no engineered board.

Configuration: four doors divided by deep carved pilasters; plain panelled doors with moulded borders and gilded corner blocks; carved swag over the centre pair.

Pilasters: running acanthus carved from the solid stile, with a full-height solid band retained along the hinge face.

Base: turned bun feet rather than a plinth.

Carving: carved crest breaking over the cornice, carved swag, gilded corner blocks, carved and gilded pilasters.

Finish: soft pale ground with hand-applied gilding on the carved ornament, sealed for durability.

Interior: planned to your requirements - long and short hanging, shelving, drawers, shoe storage, lockable compartments.

Sizes: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production, including access dimensions.

Warranty: 20 years on the solid teak carcass and joinery; lifetime cover against termite damage.

Deep pilaster carving projects from the front of the wardrobe along its full height, which makes it the first thing a crate wall would meet. Each pilaster is protected along its entire length with shaped foam that touches only the solid ground between the leaves, never the leaf tips.

All doors are secured closed and braced so nothing can swing or work against its hinges.

A soft, clean non-abrasive layer goes against the pale finish first, since a light ground shows a rub immediately.

The carved crest above the cornice and the carved swag on the doors receive individually shaped protection, and each turned bun foot is protected separately - feet take more knocks in transit than any other part of a wardrobe.

The carcass enters a rigid outer crate with cushioning on every face, corner protection at all eight corners, and strapping that prevents movement. This is why dent-free arrival is guaranteed.

Delivery is free across India - no freight charge, no distance surcharge, and no difference between a metro address and a smaller town, whatever the size of the wardrobe.

Because every wardrobe is made to order, we confirm your finished dimensions and your access dimensions - doorway widths, stair turns, lift size - in writing before production begins. Where access requires it, the wardrobe is built to knock down into sections that assemble in the room, and the bun feet fit on site.

Once complete it is packed as described and dispatched with a carrier used to handling large carved furniture. You are contacted ahead of delivery so someone can be present.

Arrival is guaranteed dent-free. If any transit damage has occurred, photograph it while the delivery team is present and contact us - we will resolve it.

The solid teak carcass and its joinery carry a 20-year warranty from the day the wardrobe reaches you - the frame, the carved stiles and their hinge fixings, the door construction, the cornice and crest joints, and the turned feet.

Lifetime cover against termite damage applies for the life of the furniture rather than a fixed number of years. Because the piece is seasoned solid teak throughout - carcass, doors, stiles, backs and internal fittings - there is no board core anywhere for insects to reach, and the timber's own oils deter them.

If a warranty issue arises, send us photographs and we will assess and repair or replace. Door alignment and hinge fixing are both covered - which matters on a design with carved stiles, because that is exactly where cheaper construction fails. Carved elements are re-cut from solid teak and the finish matched. Both warranties apply anywhere in India.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this product.

They are carved from the solid stiles themselves, not stuck on. A full-height band of solid timber is deliberately retained behind the carving on the hinge face, so the stiles still hold the door hinges properly.

Feet lift the base clear of the floor, which keeps it out of contact with damp and lets you clean underneath. They also make the wardrobe read as furniture rather than as built-in joinery. A plinth can be built instead if you prefer.

Yes. The door panels can carry mirrors, carved panels, fabric or inlay. On this design they are deliberately plain so the pilasters read - but the balance is yours to choose.

Yes, entirely. Long hanging for sarees and coats, short hanging, shelving, drawers, shoe storage, a lockable compartment, interior lighting - built to your requirements and confirmed in writing before production.

Yes. The pale ground can be built in ivory, cream, grey or a deeper tone, the gilding can be silver, and the whole piece can be finished in natural polished teak if you would rather see the timber.

Yes. Two through six, with the pilasters and door widths laid out afresh so the bays stay correctly proportioned at that width.

We confirm your access dimensions before production, not after. Where access requires it, the wardrobe is built to knock down into sections that assemble in the room.

20 years on the solid teak carcass and joinery, including door alignment and hinge fixings, plus lifetime cover against termite damage. Both apply anywhere in India.
