A carved wardrobe of this kind is the most labour-intensive thing we build, because almost no surface on it is left plain. It is solid teak, worked by master Indian artisans.

The outer doors combine two techniques in a single panel: jali, the pierced lattice cut through the timber, and relief carving standing in front of it. The centre doors carry oval mirrors in carved surrounds.

Jali is worth having on a wardrobe for a practical reason as well as an ornamental one - a pierced panel lets air move through the door, which is useful in a cupboard holding clothes in a humid climate. A fabric or solid backing can be fitted behind it if you would rather it were closed.

Every wardrobe is made to order and fully customisable. Width, height, depth, door count, jali pattern, mirror shape, finish and interior layout are all specified by you, with dimensions confirmed in writing before production.

The solid teak carcass and joinery carry a 20-year warranty plus lifetime cover against termite damage. Delivery is free anywhere in India, guaranteed dent-free.

The flowers on these doors are not sitting on a lattice. They are what is left of it.

The whole panel starts as one board. The obvious way to get this effect would be to make a jali screen and glue a carved flower onto it - and you can tell instantly when that has been done, because a glued-on flower has a shadow line all round its base where it meets the lattice, and it sits at a single flat depth rather than growing out of the panel.

So our master Indian artisans work the panel in one piece, and the order matters more than the skill. The floral vine is modelled first, to its full depth, while the board is still solid - because a solid board can be held firmly, and carving needs the work to be still. Only when the flowers are finished is the lattice pierced through the ground around them.

That order cannot be reversed. Pierce the lattice first and the panel becomes a fragile web with nothing to clamp and nothing to resist the tool; every mallet blow after that risks the whole thing.

Solid first, then open. The flowers are older than the holes.

Material: solid teak carcass, doors and frame, hand-carved. No veneer, no engineered board.

Configuration: four doors - outer doors with pierced jali panels carrying floral relief, centre doors with tall oval mirrors in carved surrounds.

Jali panels: lattice and relief cut from one board, relief modelled before the ground is pierced. Solid or fabric backing available if preferred.

Carving: running foliage on stiles and rails, carved mirror surrounds, pierced crest above the cornice, carved corner brackets, carved feet.

Finish: antique silver over the carved teak, sealed for durability.

Interior: planned to your requirements - long and short hanging, shelving, drawers, shoe storage, lockable compartments.

Sizes: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production, including access dimensions.

Warranty: 20 years on the solid teak carcass and joinery; lifetime cover against termite damage.

Pierced panels are the reason this wardrobe is packed the way it is. A jali panel has no solid ground behind it, so any pressure on its face has nothing to bear against - which means the packing must support it without touching it.

Each jali door is protected with shaped supports that meet only the door's solid frame, leaving the pierced area with clearance on both faces.

The mirrored doors are secured closed, braced, and protected across the full face of each oval plate.

A soft, clean non-abrasive layer goes against the antique silver finish first - a pale metallic finish shows a rub plainly. The pierced crest, the carved corner brackets and the feet each receive individually shaped protection.

The carcass enters a rigid outer crate with cushioning on every face, corner protection throughout, and strapping that prevents movement. This is why dent-free arrival is guaranteed.

Delivery is free across India - no freight charge, no distance surcharge, and no difference between a metro address and a smaller town.

Because every wardrobe is made to order, we confirm your finished dimensions and your access dimensions - doorway widths, stair turns, lift size - in writing before production begins. Where access requires it, the wardrobe is built to knock down into sections that assemble in the room, with the jali and mirrored doors travelling separately.

Once complete it is packed as described and dispatched with a carrier used to handling large carved furniture and mirror glass. You are contacted ahead of delivery so someone can be present.

Arrival is guaranteed dent-free. If any transit damage has occurred, photograph it while the delivery team is present and contact us - we will resolve it.

The solid teak carcass and its joinery carry a 20-year warranty from the day the wardrobe reaches you - the frame, the door construction, the jali panels, the hinging of the mirrored doors, the cornice and crest joints, and the carved feet.

Lifetime cover against termite damage applies for the life of the furniture rather than a fixed number of years. Because the piece is seasoned solid teak throughout - carcass, doors, jali panels, backs and internal fittings - there is no board core anywhere for insects to reach.

If a warranty issue arises, send us photographs and we will assess and repair or replace. Jali is included in that cover: a pierced panel is the most delicate element in the wardrobe, and if one is ever damaged it is re-cut from solid teak in the original technique rather than patched. Door alignment is covered too. Both warranties apply anywhere in India.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this product.

It is a pierced lattice cut right through the timber - an Indian technique in which the pattern is made of holes as much as of wood. Here it forms the ground of the outer door panels, with floral carving standing in relief in front of it.

No. The lattice and the flowers are cut from the same single board, with the relief modelled first and the ground pierced around it afterwards. That is why the flowers appear to grow out of the panel rather than sit on it.

Jali lets air move through the door, which is an advantage for clothes in a humid climate. If you would rather the doors were closed, we fit a solid or fabric backing behind the lattice - tell us before production.

Yes. The lattice can be built in a finer or coarser mesh, in a geometric star pattern, or in a design you bring us, and the relief in front of it can be redrawn too.

Yes. The tall ovals shown can be made rectangular, arched, or full-height, or left out in favour of more carved panels.

Yes, entirely. Long hanging, short hanging, shelving, drawers, shoe storage, a lockable compartment, interior lighting - built to your requirements and confirmed in writing before production.

A soft dry brush is the right tool - it lifts dust out of the lattice and the relief without pressing on the bars. The finish is sealed, so nothing wet is needed.

20 years on the solid teak carcass and joinery, including the jali panels and door alignment, plus lifetime cover against termite damage. Both apply anywhere in India.
