An ivory and gold mirror in carved solid teak with a shell crest, side scrolls and a scrolled base, hand-finished and made to order by Brown Rabbit.

A two-colour finish behaves quite differently on a wall from a single-colour one. Because the ivory recedes and only the gold edges catch light, the mirror keeps its detail without adding visual weight - which is why this finish suits bedrooms, dressing rooms and pale interiors where a solid gold frame would take over the room.

The balance between the two is adjustable. Gold can be kept to the finest edges for a very light effect, or extended over whole elements - the shell, the crest volutes, the mouldings - for something more emphatic. Tell us which way you want it and we will finish a sample area for approval.

The ivory itself can be laid warmer or cooler to suit your walls and linen. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed in writing before production.

The gold on this frame is not masked off. It is drawn on by hand, and it has to be, because the alternative looks wrong.

The temptation with a two-colour finish is to tape a line and fill to it. Do that on a carved edge and the gold sits at a uniform width all the way along - which is exactly what a curve does not want. A scroll that swells and narrows needs its highlight to swell and narrow with it, wider where the form turns toward the light and thinner where it rolls away.

So our artisans lay the ivory first over the whole piece, and then work the gold last with a fine brush, following the highest ridge of each element by eye. Where the carving is bold the line runs generous; where it tapers to a point the gold tapers with it and stops just short of the tip.

Stand back and you do not see gold edges at all. You see a carved shape that appears to be lit from one side - which is the entire trick of a white and gold finish, and the reason it cannot be done with tape.

Material: solid teak throughout, hand-carved by master Indian artisans.

Structure: rectangular jointed frame with a plate rebate; carved side scrolls, shell and volute crest and scrolled base apron joined to the frame.

Finish: hand-applied ivory over the whole piece, with gold laid freehand along the raised edges of the carving. The gold-to-ivory balance and the warmth of the ivory are set to your preference.

Plate: plain mirror glass as photographed; bevelled plate available on request.

Hanging: concealed fixings supplied and rated for the finished weight, with fixing centres provided ahead of delivery.

Sizes: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Photography: images on this page are photographs of the actual product, not renders.

A pale finish shows any mark that a dark one would hide, so the packing here is about cleanliness as much as cushioning.

The mirror is wrapped first in a soft, clean, non-transferring facing over the whole ivory surface, before any foam or tape comes near it. Only then do the cushioning layers go on.

The crest and the projecting side scrolls are capped individually. The plate is faced with film and backed with a cut board so the glass never carries load.

The complete mirror is then packed in laminated foam and bubble wrap and crated in a fitted wooden case, carried on edge and marked for orientation. Multi-layer protective packaging is standard and dent-free arrival is guaranteed on every order.

Delivery anywhere in India is free and included - no separate freight charge, no distance loading, no surcharge for a smaller town.

Production begins once your size, plate, ivory tone and gold balance are confirmed in writing. You get a realistic production window at that stage and updates as the piece moves through carving, finishing, gilding and crating.

The consignment is tracked and our team stays reachable throughout. Dent-free arrival is guaranteed and it is ours to honour.

Tell us about any narrow stair, small lift or restricted doorway when you order and we plan the crate size and route around it before the mirror leaves the workshop.

The solid teak frame and its joinery are covered by a 20-year Brown Rabbit warranty - the jointed frame, the plate rebate, and the joints holding the crest, the side scrolls and the base apron.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs with the mirror for as long as you own it, backed by teak's natural resistance to termites and given to you in writing.

Both the ivory and the gold are applied by hand, so the width of the gold line varies along each curve by design rather than by accident. That variation is what makes the finish read as light on a form instead of as a painted stripe.

Written warranty terms come with the order, so the cover is settled before production begins.
