A tall wooden mirror frame in solid teak, hand-carved and finished natural.

The whole frame is pierced - the carving is cut right through rather than raised on a solid ground - so the piece reads as an open screen of scrollwork around the glass.

Above, a vase and plume crest sits over a pierced arch. Down each side, carved husk drops hang from small rings. Below, a wide carved apron with a shell at its centre.

Because there is no metal leaf and no colour, everything depends on the carving itself and on the timber it is cut from - which is the reason this version exists alongside our gilded frames.

Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Carving that will be gilded and carving that will be left bare are not the same job, and the difference is in how forgiving the surface is.

Under gilding, a small tear in the grain disappears. The prepared ground fills it, the gold covers it, and nobody ever knows. Carvers working towards a gilded finish can take a cut that runs slightly against the grain if the shape demands it.

On a piece left natural under a clear finish, that same tear stays visible for the life of the mirror - and worse, the clear finish soaks in more deeply where the fibres are torn, so the patch darkens and announces itself.

So every cut on this frame is taken with the grain rather than into it, which means the carver has to keep changing the direction he works from as the scroll turns - approaching the same leaf from three or four sides across the course of carving it, and re-sharpening constantly, because a dull edge tears where a sharp one severs.

It is slower. It is the only way the finished surface can be left with nothing on it but oil.

Material: solid teak throughout - frame, crest, husk drops, apron and back structure.

Frame: pierced carving cut right through, with a shaped and pierced arch at the head.

Crest: carved vase and plume above the arch.

Sides: carved husk drops hanging from rings.

Base: wide carved apron with central shell.

Glass: mirror plate shaped at the head, set inside the carved frame.

Finish: natural, with the grain and figure of the teak left visible and every cut worked with the grain.

Back: solid structure carrying the hanging fixings.

Made to order: size, carving design and finish are all customisable. Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

An unfinished timber surface marks differently from a gilded one - a knock leaves a dent rather than a scuff - so the wrapping is built around cushioning rather than only covering.

Foam is pressed into every opening in the pierced carving so the frame is braced from behind, then acid-free tissue is laid over the surface, then foam sheet, then bubble wrap.

The plume crest, the husk drops and the outer tips of the apron project furthest and are each given moulded foam blocks.

The plate is taped in a grid across its face, foam-faced and covered with a rigid board cut to the shaped head.

The mirror travels flat in a hardwood crate with corner protection at every arris and clear orientation marking.

Multi-layer protective packaging is included on every order at no extra cost.

Delivery is free anywhere in India, with guaranteed dent-free arrival. No distance charge, no size charge and no handling fee.

Production begins once your dimensions are confirmed in writing - and we ask the ceiling height as well, since the crest carries the mirror above the glass.

We photograph your actual mirror through the build: the timber selected, the frame pierced, the carving finished, and the mirror complete under its clear finish - which on a natural piece is worth seeing before dispatch, because the timber is the finish.

On site, our team unpacks it flat, marks the fixings and hangs it level.

Send us lift dimensions, stair turns and doorway widths ahead of dispatch so the route can be planned. Every photograph on this page is of the actual product, not a render.

The solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty - the frame members, the arch, the crest, the apron and the back structure, along with every joint between them.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs with the mirror and never expires. Teak's natural oils are its own defence, and on a piece with no finish covering them, that protection is working directly at the surface.

The mirror plate and the hanging fixings are covered against manufacturing defect.

Because there is no paint or gilding to match, servicing a natural piece is simpler than a finished one - the surface can be cleaned back and re-oiled. The timber selection and finish specification are recorded against your order number. Contact us and we will arrange it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this product.

Yes. Every cut is taken with the grain rather than into it, because a torn cut cannot be hidden under a clear finish the way it would be under gold.

Teak deepens slowly into a warmer tone as it ages, which is one of the reasons the natural finish is worth choosing.

Yes. The same design can be gilded, silvered or painted if you prefer - the finish is entirely your choice.

Yes. Height and width are built to your wall, and the crest is proportioned to your ceiling. Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.
