A solid teak TV unit with a panelled back, pierced crest, carved doors and an open media bay, hand-built and made to order by Brown Rabbit.

The panelled back does two practical things beyond the obvious. It hides every cable behind it rather than leaving them against the wall, and it lets the piece be placed away from a wall - across a corner, or dividing a room - with a finished surface facing the seating.

Height is set from your screen and your ceiling; the panel needs to read clear above the television and the crest needs air above that.

The screen can be wall-mounted onto the panel or stood on the case below, and we build the panel with the necessary backing and cable routes either way. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed in writing before production.

A panel that will carry a mounted television is a different object from a panel that is only decorative, and the difference is decided long before the carving.

A flat-screen bracket concentrates a great deal of weight into four small points, and that weight acts as leverage - pulling at the top and pushing at the bottom - every time the screen is tilted or nudged. A framed-and-panelled back with thin floating panels would not take that; the fixings would pull through.

So where a screen is to be mounted, our artisans build a solid backing block into the panel behind the bracket position, laminated into the panel's thickness and reaching between the two full-height stiles. The bracket then fixes into solid timber that is carried by the frame, not into a panel that is only spanning a gap.

Which means we need to know two things before the panel is made: whether you will mount the screen, and roughly where. A backing block cannot sensibly be added afterwards, and a panel drilled without one is a panel that will eventually let go.

Material: solid teak throughout, hand-built and hand-carved by master Indian artisans.

Structure: lower case with two carved cupboard doors and an open shelved media bay; full panelled back on full-height stiles; moulded cornice with a pierced carved crest; carved pilasters; carved paw feet and apron.

Screen mounting: where a wall-mounted screen is specified, a solid backing block is laminated into the panel behind the bracket position and carried between the stiles.

Finish: deep natural polished teak as photographed; other finishes available.

Services: cable routes run behind the panel; ventilation cut to suit your equipment.

Sizes: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Photography: images on this page are photographs of the actual product, not renders.

This piece travels as two sections - the lower case and the panelled back with its cornice - divided as it is built, so nothing is forced apart or together on site.

The pierced crest is the most delicate element and is packed with foam worked into its openings so it is supported from within, then capped separately.

The carved paw feet are wrapped and blocked so the weight of the case rests on its frame in transit rather than on the feet. The panel face is protected with a soft clean facing before foam, because a polished surface shows a scuff as a shine.

Doors travel closed and restrained. Both sections then go into laminated foam, bubble wrap and fitted wooden crates, with fixings and an assembly drawing in a labelled box. Multi-layer protective packaging is standard and dent-free arrival is guaranteed.

Free delivery anywhere in India is included in the price - no separate freight charge, no distance loading, no surcharge for a smaller town.

Production begins once your dimensions, screen size, mounting choice and finish are confirmed in writing. We give you a realistic production window at that point and updates as the piece moves through carcass work, carving, polishing and crating.

The shipment is tracked and our team stays reachable throughout. Dent-free arrival is guaranteed and it is our responsibility to honour.

Tell us your doorway, stair and lift dimensions when you order. The panelled back is the tall section and its dimensions decide the crating, so we need that before production.

The solid teak structure and its joinery carry a 20-year Brown Rabbit warranty - the lower carcass, the panelled back and its stiles, the cornice, the door frames, the apron and the feet.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs with the unit for as long as you own it, resting on teak's natural termite resistance and given in writing.

Where a backing block is built in for a screen bracket, it is part of the structure and covered by the same warranty. Doors are hand-fitted and can be adjusted over the years as solid timber settles.

Written warranty terms are issued with your order so the cover is agreed before production begins.
