A solid teak TV unit with three drawers, glazed side cupboards, a central media bay and carved corner brackets, hand-built and made to order by Brown Rabbit.

Storage is the reason to choose this design over a plain console. Drawers keep the small things that otherwise live on top of the television out of sight, and glazed doors let you find a disc or a manual without opening every cupboard.

The glazing itself is a choice worth making deliberately - clear glass shows what is behind it, so the cupboards look best when the contents are arranged rather than stacked. If you would rather not think about that, the same cupboards can be made with solid panelled doors.

Internal layout, drawer depths and shelf heights are all planned to your list of what will live in the unit. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed in writing before production.

An open media bay in the middle of a cabinet is a small engineering problem, because it is the one place with no door to stiffen it and the one place where heat collects.

The stiffness is dealt with by making the two vertical divisions on either side of the bay full-height members that run from the plinth to the top in one piece, rather than stopping them at the shelf. The top, the shelf and the back are all housed into those two uprights, which turns the centre of the cabinet into a rigid box even though its front is open.

The heat is dealt with above and behind. A set-top box and a player both run warm, and warm air has to leave upward. So the shelf inside the bay is set back slightly from the front and the back panel behind it is cut with slots at high level, which lets air rise out at the top rather than sitting under the cabinet top and cooking the equipment.

None of that shows. It is the difference between furniture designed for electronics and furniture that electronics were later put inside.

Material: solid teak throughout, hand-built and hand-carved by master Indian artisans.

Structure: three drawers across the top; glazed cupboards each side; central open media bay with an adjustable shelf; full-height uprights each side of the bay with top, shelf and back housed into them.

Ventilation: shelf set back and high-level slots cut in the back panel behind the media bay so warm air can rise out.

Detail: carved acanthus corner brackets, beaded plinth moulding, turned bun feet, cast metal handles.

Finish: deep polished dark teak as photographed; lighter natural teak and other finishes available.

Sizes: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Photography: images on this page are photographs of the actual product, not renders.

Glazed doors are the first consideration here. Each glass panel is faced with film and backed inside the cupboard with a cut board, and the doors are secured closed so they cannot swing in the crate.

The carved corner brackets and the beaded plinth moulding are the proudest elements and each is capped or edge-protected separately. The bun feet are wrapped and blocked so the weight of the piece never rests on them in transit.

Drawers travel closed and restrained, with the runners protected.

The unit then goes into laminated foam, bubble wrap and a fitted wooden crate, marked for orientation. Multi-layer protective packaging is standard and dent-free arrival is guaranteed.

Delivery anywhere in India is free and included in the price - no separate freight charge, no distance loading, no small-town surcharge.

Production begins once your dimensions, internal layout, glazing choice and finish are confirmed in writing. You get a realistic production window at that stage and updates as the piece moves through carcass work, carving, finishing and crating.

The shipment is tracked and our team stays reachable throughout. Dent-free arrival is guaranteed and it is ours to honour.

Tell us your doorway, stair and lift dimensions when you order. A deep storage unit is heavier and less forgiving on a turn than a slim console, and we plan the route before it leaves the workshop.

The solid teak carcass and its joinery are covered by a 20-year Brown Rabbit warranty - the carcass, the full-height uprights and their housings, the drawer construction, the door frames and the plinth and feet.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs with the unit for as long as you own it, resting on teak's natural termite resistance and given in writing.

Drawers and doors are fitted by hand and can be adjusted over the years as solid timber settles into a room, which is normal behaviour rather than a fault. Glass is replaceable without disturbing the door frames.

Written warranty terms are issued with your order so the cover is agreed before production begins.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this product.

The media bay is built for equipment: the shelf is set back from the front and the back panel behind it is slotted at high level, so warm air rises out rather than collecting under the top.

Yes. The same cupboards can be made with solid panelled doors if you would rather not have the contents on view. Glass can also be changed later without disturbing the door frames.

Three drawers across the top plus two full cupboards and an open media bay. Tell us what will live in it and we set drawer depths and shelf heights to that list before building.

Usually a little wider than the screen above it, so the television reads as seated on the furniture. Send us the screen width and wall width and we will draw it to suit and confirm in writing.

Yes. The deep polished dark teak shown can be replaced with a lighter natural teak or another finish. We prepare a sample for approval before completing the piece.

Tell us your preference at the time of order and we build accordingly. Either way the drawer boxes themselves are solid teak, which is what keeps them running through a humid season.
