A throne chair with footstool in solid teak and tan leather, made to order by master Indian artisans. The chair stands tall and square, with a buttoned back, a plain seat cushion and arms formed as full lions rather than as scrolls with a head applied at the front.

The footstool is part of the commission, not an afterthought. Its height is set against the chair's finished seat height so the leg lies straight when both are in use, and its carved apron repeats the chair's own pattern at a scale that suits a smaller piece.

The pair suits a study, a library corner or the end of a long drawing room, where a seat is meant to be settled into rather than perched on. Tan leather as photographed is one option among many - we work in any leather you send us, or in fabric if you prefer.

Handcrafted Indian luxury with a 20-year frame warranty, lifetime termite cover, free PAN-India delivery and guaranteed dent-free arrival.

A footstool is easy to get wrong by an inch. Too high and the knee lifts; too low and the heel carries the leg. The number that matters is not the chair's seat height on the drawing - it is the seat height once someone is sitting in it, after the cushion has compressed.

So we measure it loaded. The chair is finished and upholstered first, then a weight is set on the seat and the compressed height is taken from the floor. Only then is the stool's frame cut. On a deep leather seat like this one, the difference between the empty and the loaded measurement runs to well over an inch, and a stool built to the empty figure sits noticeably tall.

The stool's own top is crowned slightly, so we take that into account too and measure the stool loaded as well. The pair is checked together on the workshop floor before either goes to finishing.

It is a small piece of arithmetic that nobody sees and everybody feels. When you sit down and put your feet up without adjusting, that is where it came from.

Set: throne chair with matching footstool, carved and upholstered as one commission.

Frame: solid teak throughout, hand-carved by master Indian artisans.

Crest: pierced carved crest above a panelled cresting rail with figured relief.

Arms: carved as full seated lions from mane to paw, worked from the solid.

Back: deep diamond buttoning in leather within a moulded surround.

Seat: plain sprung cushion, leather to match.

Footstool: carved apron repeating the chair's pattern at reduced scale, studded leather top, height set against the chair's loaded seat height.

Joinery: mortise and tenon, corner-blocked at the seat rails on both pieces.

Finish: hand-applied walnut-toned teak as photographed; gilt, silver, ebonised and natural also available.

Dimensions: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Chair and footstool are crated separately so neither can move against the other in transit. Each is wrapped in soft non-abrasive sheeting first, with the leather surfaces covered before anything firmer comes near them.

The lion arms are the most exposed carving on the chair, and the paws at the front are the parts most likely to meet a door frame. Each lion is padded individually with foam shaped around the mane and paw, and the pierced crest is boxed at the top so nothing bears on the fretwork.

Over the padding go bubble wrap, a corrugated shell and an outer crate cut to size. The footstool's studded edge is protected along its full run so no stud head can be pressed inward.

To unpack, cut the strapping, lift each shell off and peel the wrapping from the top down. No dismantling, no fixings, nothing to lever.

Delivery is free anywhere in India for the pair, and both pieces are guaranteed to arrive dent-free. If anything is wrong on arrival, putting it right is our cost, and we commit to that before you order.

Production starts once your leather, finish and measurements are confirmed in writing. Because the stool's height depends on the chair's finished seat, the two are made in sequence and dispatched together rather than as they finish.

We share the schedule at confirmation and keep you posted through carving, upholstery and finishing. Tracking follows as soon as the crates leave us, and our team fixes the delivery slot with you directly.

Open both crates with the delivery team present and check the pieces there and then. If access is tight, send us the door and stair measurements at the order stage and we build the chair's back height to clear your route.

Both the chair and the footstool carry a 20-year warranty on the solid teak frame and joinery. The stool is not treated as an accessory with lesser cover - it is built by the same hands from the same timber and is warranted on the same terms.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs alongside it, on both pieces. Teak's own oils are what make that possible, and we put the undertaking in writing rather than leaving it as a general claim.

The warranty documents are issued with the delivery and tied to your order number, so the record sits with you. If something covered goes wrong, send photographs and we arrange repair or replacement of the affected part.

Leather, buttoning and hand-applied finishes are wearing surfaces and are handled separately, but we re-upholster and re-finish our own work at any age. Your specification stays on file, so a re-cover years from now can be matched to the original or changed deliberately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this product.

Yes. The stool is part of the commission and is carved, upholstered and warranted alongside the chair. Its height is set against the chair's seat height measured under load, so the leg lies straight when you use them together.

Yes, and you can add the stool later too. We keep your specification on file, so a stool ordered afterwards is built to the same leather, finish and carving pattern as the chair you already have.

You can send us your own hide or choose from our range. The tan shown here is one option; the buttoning depth and the stud detail on the stool are both yours to set. We confirm the hide count needed before we start.

Each is carved from solid teak by hand, as a complete seated lion from mane to paw, rather than assembled from a scroll with a head applied to the front. That is only possible in a dense, even-grained timber.

Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production. Give us your seat height, seat depth, overall back height and preferred stool height, or the space involved, and we build to those figures.

A 20-year warranty on the solid teak frame and joinery of both the chair and the stool, plus a lifetime warranty against termite damage on both. Documents are issued in writing with the delivery and tied to your order.

Delivery is free across India. Each piece is crated separately in multi-layer protective packaging, with the lion arms and paws individually padded and the pierced crest boxed, and the set is guaranteed to arrive dent-free.

Yes. Every image is a photograph of the actual chair and stool we made, not a computer rendering, so the carving, the buttoning and the finish are shown exactly as they left the workshop.
