Carved Teak Pooja Mandir with Stepped Platform

This is a floor-standing pooja mandir in solid teak, finished in a warm honey polish, built with a platform that steps forward to a lower ledge across the full width. The deities stand at the back under the canopy; the ledge in front carries the lamp, the thali, the bell and the day's flowers, so everything has room and the flame sits forward of the murtis with the open canopy above it.

Rope-twist columns stand on carved elephant bases at each side, with jaali lattice panels set within the canopy returns so the lattice is seen from where you stand and air passes across the deities. A carved arched pelmet spans the opening beneath a deep cornice, and three domes rise along the roofline with the largest at the centre, each capped with a finial and flanked by corner finials. The back is plain teak with vertical grain, and two drawers sit in the base above a carved apron on claw feet. Every Brown Rabbit mandir is made to order, so the size, the platform arrangement, the storage and the finish are agreed before production and every dimension confirmed in writing. The solid teak and its joinery carry a 20-year warranty, termite damage is covered for the life of the piece, delivery anywhere in India is free, and dent-free arrival is guaranteed.

A Ledge for the Lamp

Watch anyone perform aarti at a home mandir and the same small problem appears: the lamp, the thali, the bell and the flowers all want to be on the same platform as the deities, and there is never quite enough room. Stepping the platform solves it in the structure rather than leaving it to be negotiated every morning. The deities keep the raised surface at the back under the canopy, and a lower ledge runs forward across the whole width for everything else.

It also puts the flame where it belongs. With the lamp forward of the murtis, the smoke rises into the open canopy and away rather than passing across the deities, and the offerings sit at a height that is easy to reach and easy to clear. The jaali panels are set within the canopy returns rather than on the outer sides for the same reason, so the air moving through the mandir passes across the space the deities occupy. Small decisions, but they are the ones you notice daily. Everything here is carved and polished by hand by master Indian artisans, and the photographs show the actual piece.

Protecting Domes, Twist Columns and Interior Jaali

The three domes and their finials, along with the corner finials, stand at the highest points, so a rigid frame guard bridges above the whole roofline and every finial is individually wrapped beneath it. The mandir is carried on its base throughout so no load ever runs through the domes or the cornice.

The jaali panels sit within the canopy returns, which protects them well in transit, and each is additionally shielded by a rigid board standing clear of its face so nothing presses into the lattice. The rope-twist columns are wrapped along their length and fitted with half-round guards that follow the outer diameter without pressing into the spiral grooves, and the carved elephant bases beneath them are contour-padded. The stepped platform edges are corner-protected along both levels, the plain back panel is faced across its full area, and the drawers are secured against sliding. Everything is rigid-crated and strapped, and your mandir arrives dent-free with the carving crisp.

Free Delivery Across India and On-Site Setup

Delivery is free anywhere in India with no distance surcharge and nothing added to your invoice for freight. Production begins once your specification is confirmed, and we give you a realistic completion window at that point. If you are working towards a griha pravesh, a festival or a particular muhurat, tell us the date at enquiry and we will plan the build around it.

Our team assembles and levels the mandir in position, so it arrives ready for you to set the deities and lay out the ledge. Share your doorway, lift and stair measurements along with the space available and we will build the piece to come in comfortably. Traditionally the mandir sits in the north-east of the home with the deities facing west or east, away from bathroom walls and out of direct sunlight, and our team will help you position it to suit whatever your household observes.

Warranty on This Pooja Mandir

The solid teak and its joinery are guaranteed for 20 years from delivery, and termite damage is covered for the entire life of the piece with no expiry. The stepped platform is framed as two levels rather than cut from one board, so each surface is properly supported along its length and the forward ledge carries lamps and thalis comfortably for decades. Those frames, the rope-twist columns carrying the canopy, and the base carcass with its drawers are all covered for the full term. Termite cover has no end date because teak resists termites through the oils within the timber.

The polish is a serviceable surface and easy to keep beautiful. Because this mandir is polished rather than painted, the finish can be cut back and rebuilt in place at any point without stripping the piece, and we do that for our own mandirs at an honest price whenever you would like it refreshed. If you keep a lamp on the forward ledge every day, a marble insert can be set into that surface so it wipes clean in seconds. Keep the mandir indoors, away from standing water and prolonged direct sun.

The deities stand on the raised surface at the back under the canopy, and the lower ledge in front carries the lamp, the thali, the bell and the day's flowers. Everything gets its own room, and the flame sits forward of the murtis with the open canopy above it.

Yes, into the ledge, the main platform or both. Marble takes lamp heat, ghee and water offerings in its stride and wipes clean in seconds, and it is a popular choice for the forward ledge where the diya usually stands.

So the lattice is seen from where you stand, and so the air moving through the mandir passes across the space the deities occupy rather than only around the outside. It keeps the interior fresh and puts the craft where you can appreciate it.

Yes. They carry the canopy and the three domes above it, turned from stock selected for straight continuous grain so the spiral stays strong along its full length, and they are covered by the 20-year frame warranty.

They are sized for daily samagri: agarbatti, wicks, matches, kumkum and small containers. If you would like additional drawers or a cupboard for thalis and larger items, we build them into the base to order.

Yes. Jaali lattice doors give dust protection with completely free airflow, and glass doors keep the deities fully visible while shut. We build whichever you prefer, with ventilation designed into the carcass either way.

Any size that suits your space. Send us the height of your deities including base and crown along with the space available, and we will scale both platform levels and the canopy clearance around them, confirming every dimension in writing.
