A gilded side table in solid teak with a drawer, a pierced gallery and a pedestal base.

The gallery is the working feature. It stands proud of the top along the back and both returns, pierced in a scrolling pattern, so the table can hold a lamp, a glass or a stack of books against it without anything reaching the edge.

The front is left open, so the top is still easy to reach across and easy to wipe.

One drawer runs under the top with a moulded and carved front, flanked by large carved scroll brackets that give the table its width at the top and taper the eye down towards the pedestal.

Below, a carved apron, a carved pedestal and a plain round plinth.

Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

A gallery around a table top is either useful or decorative, and the difference is a couple of decisions about how it is made and how high it stands.

Screwed onto the surface of the top, a gallery is decorative. It has no real strength - a book pushed against it works the screws loose over time - and it leaves a raised edge on the top that traps dust along its whole length.

This one is jointed into the top instead. The rail is tenoned down into the top itself and into the corner blocks at each return, so a push against it is carried into the structure rather than into a screw thread, and the joint line sits flush with the surface so nothing collects along it.

Its height is chosen from what a side table actually holds. Tall enough to stop a paperback or a phone sliding off the back edge; low enough that a lamp base still sits inside it and the top can be wiped in one pass.

And it stops at the front. A gallery that ran all the way round would turn a useful table into a tray.

Material: solid teak in the top, gallery, drawer box, brackets, apron, pedestal and plinth.

Gallery: pierced carved rail across the back and returning both sides, tenoned into the top and corner blocks, open at the front.

Drawer: one drawer under the top, front framed in egg-and-dart moulding with a carved centre spray, on side runners with a stop.

Brackets: heavy carved scroll brackets at both front corners.

Base: carved apron of opposed scrolls over a carved pedestal, on a plain moulded round plinth.

Finish: gilded throughout by hand, with raised faces burnished brighter than the grounds.

Made to order: height, width, depth, gallery height, drawer count and finish are all customisable. Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

The pierced gallery is the most delicate element and the one standing highest, so it is protected first: foam is pressed into every opening in the piercing to brace the carving from behind, tissue is laid over the gilding, and a rigid cover is fitted over the whole gallery.

The carved scroll brackets project at both front corners and are individually foam-blocked.

The rest of the gilded surface takes acid-free tissue directly against the gold, then foam sheet, then bubble wrap, with rigid board across the open part of the top.

The drawer is removed and wrapped separately so the runners carry no load in transit.

The table travels standing on its plinth in a hardwood crate, corner-protected, with lift points marked on the outside. Multi-layer protective packaging is included on every order at no extra cost.

Delivery is free anywhere in India, with guaranteed dent-free arrival. No distance charge, no size charge and no handling fee.

Production begins once your dimensions are confirmed in writing - including the gallery height, which we set from what you intend to keep on the table. We photograph your actual table through the build: the frame, the gallery jointed into the top, the carving, the gilding and the finished piece.

On site, our team places and levels the table on its plinth and refits the drawer.

Send us lift dimensions, stair turns and doorway widths ahead of dispatch so the route can be planned. Every photograph on this page is of the actual product, not a render.

The solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty - the top, the gallery joints, the drawer box, the brackets, the pedestal and the plinth, along with every joint between them.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs with the table and never expires. Teak's natural oils are its own defence and our warranty stands behind them.

Drawer runners and hardware are covered against manufacturing defect. The gallery is tenoned rather than screwed, which is what allows it to be guaranteed as part of the frame rather than as an attachment.

The gilding is applied by hand and recorded against your order number, including which areas are burnished, so a later repair is re-finished the same way. Contact us with your order number and we will arrange it.
