A purple diwan in solid teak with a champagne gold carved frame.

The back is buttoned aubergine velvet, rising through a carved scrolled rail to a fluted roll at the head, and falling away to an open foot.

Along the front, the apron is carved with a run of hanging swags between rosettes - a length of cloth suggested in timber - and a stud line follows the seat rail above it.

At the two foot corners, turned finials rise above the frame line, which stops the open end of the diwan from looking unfinished where the back has fallen away.

The seat is a single full-length cushion, and a gold tasselled bolster sits at the head.

Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

The two finials at the foot corners are made separately and threaded into the leg posts, and that is a deliberate decision about the day the diwan arrives at your house.

A finial is a slender turned form standing proud above the frame at the most exposed corner of the piece. If it were carved integral with the leg post - which is perfectly possible - then it would be permanently in the way. Every doorway, every stair turn, every moment the piece is set down on its end during a move puts that finial first in line, and a broken integral finial means repairing the leg itself.

So each is turned as its own piece, with a threaded dowel at its base seating into a socket in the post. They are fitted after the diwan is standing in its final position, and they can be removed again any time the piece has to be moved.

Their height is set with the seat cushion in place. A finial that finishes level with the cushion looks accidental; it needs to clear it by enough to read as a deliberate upright, which can only be judged with the upholstery on the frame.

Frame: solid teak throughout, hand-carved, finished in champagne gold applied by hand.

Back: deep buttoned velvet with a fluted roll at the head, within a carved scrolled rail.

Apron: carved run of hanging swags between rosettes along the full length of the front.

Finials: turned corner finials at the foot, threaded into sockets in the leg posts and removable.

Seat: full-length cushion on a sprung and webbed platform, with a close stud line to the seat rail.

Cushions: tasselled bolster at the head.

Legs: turned and carved legs.

Handing: built with the high end to the left or the right, to your requirement.

Made to order: length, back height, seat depth, handing, finish and covering are all customisable. Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

The finials are removed before packing and travel in their own compartmented box with their fittings, wrapped individually - they are the most breakable part of the piece and they never travel fitted.

The carved apron stands proud along the whole front, so foam is shaped along its full run and pressed behind each swag rather than pressed onto it.

The gilded frame takes acid-free tissue directly against the champagne finish, then foam padding along the mouldings, then bubble wrap.

The velvet is wrapped in breathable cloth laid with the pile, then in soft polythene, with no pressure across the buttoned back and a protective strip run along the stud line.

The bolster travels in its own sleeve with the tassel wrapped separately.

Everything ships in a hardwood crate, corner-protected and marked for orientation. Multi-layer protective packaging is included on every order at no extra cost.

Delivery is free anywhere in India, with guaranteed dent-free arrival. No distance charge, no size charge and no handling fee.

Production begins once your length, handing and covering are confirmed in writing. We photograph your actual diwan through the build - the frame in the white, the carved swag apron, the champagne finish, the buttoning and studding, and the finished piece with the finials fitted.

On site, our team carries the diwan in with the finials still packed, sets and levels it in position, and fits the finials last.

Send us lift dimensions, stair turns and doorway widths ahead of dispatch so the route can be planned. Every photograph on this page is of the actual product, not a render.

The solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty - the seat rails, the back frame, the carved apron, the leg posts and their joints.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs with the diwan and never expires. Teak's own oils are its first protection and our warranty is what stands behind them.

The sprung and webbed platform, the buttoning, the studding and the finial fittings are covered against manufacturing defect. Because the finials thread into sockets, a damaged one can be replaced on its own - the post it sits in is untouched.

The covering and the champagne gold finish are recorded against your order number for future matching. Contact us with your order number and we will arrange it.
