A leather throne chair with a matching ottoman, in carved solid teak with a dark finish. The pairing turns a formal chair into somewhere you can actually sit for an evening - a study, a library, a lounge, a club room, or the corner of a large drawing room.

Master Indian artisans carve both frames by hand from seasoned solid teak. The lion heads at the arms and the standing lion legs are worked in the round, and the carved borders around the back and along the rails are cut from solid stock rather than applied as mouldings.

The set is made to order. Choose the leather, the finish tone, the seat width and the back height, and choose whether the buttoning carries stones or plain covered buttons. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed in writing before production. It comes with a 20-year warranty on the teak frames and joinery, a lifetime warranty against termite damage, free PAN-India delivery with guaranteed dent-free arrival, and multi-layer protective packaging.

The chair back and the ottoman top are the same colour, and on a leather set that is not something you can take for granted.

A hide is an animal, not a bolt of cloth. It is thicker and tighter along the spine and looser towards the belly, and it takes dye differently across those areas - so two panels cut from opposite ends of the same hide can arrive noticeably different in shade and in surface. Cut them from two different hides and the difference is larger again.

So the panels that will sit next to each other in the finished room are cut next to each other on the hide. The chair back and the ottoman top - the two large flat faces a person actually looks at together - are taken from the same area along the spine, where the leather is firmest and the colour most even. Arms and side panels come from further out, where slightly looser leather is an advantage because it has to wrap a curve.

It means a set like this uses more hide than a cutting plan that simply fits the pieces in efficiently. What you get is a chair and a stool that read as one object rather than two similar ones.

Frames: solid teak throughout on both pieces, hand-carved by master Indian artisans, with traditional joinery at every junction.

Back: tall arched panel, deep-buttoned with a set stone at each button, inside a carved border.

Arms: rolled upholstered arms over carved lion-head supports.

Seat: upholstered seat on a sprung and padded frame.

Legs: carved standing lions at the front, shaped rear legs.

Ottoman: buttoned upholstered top on a carved rail, standing on four carved lion legs.

Upholstery: oxblood leather as photographed. Any leather or fabric can be used instead, including your own material.

Finish: dark near-black hand finish over the carving. Any tone can be matched, and gilded highlights can be added.

Size: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production, for both pieces.

Photography: images on this page are of the actual product, not renders.

The lion legs stand at the outside corners of both pieces, which makes them the first thing any impact reaches - so they are packed before anything else.

Each leg gets a shaped foam collar around head, mane and paws, deep enough to stand proud of the carving. The lion-head arm supports on the chair get the same. The carved border around the back is protected with a continuous foam strip so pressure is spread rather than landing on the raised work.

A soft non-abrasive layer covers the finish and the leather so nothing coarse touches either, laid smoothly with no folds pressing into the buttoned faces. Corrugated panels then build rigid shells around each piece, with bases blocked and braced so weight rests on the frames rather than the carving. The ottoman travels in its own carton. Outer cartons are edge-reinforced, and the leather travels under a breathable cover. Everything unwraps by hand.

Free PAN-India delivery covers both pieces - no zone rates, no distance surcharge, no separate charge for the ottoman. The set costs the same delivered to Gwalior as to Guntur.

Dent-free arrival is guaranteed on both. They leave in multi-layer protective packaging, travel with handlers briefed on figure carving and leather upholstery, and are checked at every transfer point. If anything is not right when you open either carton, tell us and we make it right - the guarantee rests with us, not with the transporter.

Because the set is made to order, production begins once your leather, finish and measurements are confirmed in writing. You get a timeline at that point, updates as both pieces move through carving, finishing and upholstery, and a dispatch note with an expected delivery window so you can plan around it.

Both frames carry a 20-year warranty on the solid teak and its joinery. On the chair that covers the arched back frame, the seat frame, the arm supports and the carved lion legs; on the ottoman, its rail, frame and four legs. If a joint opens or a member fails within those twenty years, we repair or replace it.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs alongside on both pieces, with no end date. Teak's natural oils are why termites leave it alone, and our seasoning and finishing routine is built around preserving them, so the timber is guaranteed for as long as the set is yours.

Carved legs carrying a seated person is exactly the case a long frame warranty is written for, and these are covered as structural members. That is possible because both pieces are made from start to finish in our own workshop by the master Indian artisans who build every piece we sell, from timber we season ourselves. Registration is automatic with your order.
