A gold throne chair in hand-carved solid teak with lion-head arms and a tall columned back. Its narrow upright proportion suits a spot where a wide chair would not fit but presence is still wanted - beside a fireplace, at the head of a long table, in an entrance hall, or in a hotel or showroom where a single chair has to hold a corner.

Master Indian artisans carve and turn every element by hand from seasoned solid teak. The lion heads are worked in the round, the columns and legs are turned and then carved, and the crest and apron shields are cut from solid stock.

It is made to order. Choose the upholstery, the gold or silver tone, the back height and the seat width. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed in writing before production. It comes with a 20-year warranty on the teak frame and joinery, a lifetime warranty against termite damage, free PAN-India delivery with guaranteed dent-free arrival, and multi-layer protective packaging.

The two columns beside the back look like single long turnings. They are not, and the reason is that a long thin piece of wood cannot be turned accurately in one go.

On a lathe, a slender workpiece held at both ends will flex away from the tool in the middle. The longer and thinner it is, the worse it gets - the wood whips, the cut chatters, and the diameter ends up fatter in the middle than the ends however carefully the turner works. Anyone who has tried to turn a long slim spindle knows the failure well.

So each column here is turned as several shorter elements - the base, the shaft, the collar, the spire - each mounted separately at a length the lathe can hold rigid, and each cut cleanly at its own diameter. They are then jointed together on a central spindle, so what reads as one continuous turning is actually four or five pieces sharing one axis.

Because the joints fall at the collars, where the profile steps in anyway, they are invisible. What you notice instead is that the spire is genuinely slender at the top and genuinely crisp at every bead - which is exactly what a single long turning could not have given.

Frame: solid teak throughout, hand-carved and hand-turned by master Indian artisans, with traditional joinery at every junction.

Back: slim upholstered panel inside a carved gilded frame, with studded trim.

Columns: turned corner columns rising into slender spire finials, built as jointed elements on a shared axis.

Crest: carved crest with a central shield.

Arms: carved lion heads at the arm fronts over fluted and beaded supports.

Seat: upholstered seat with studded trim, on a sprung and padded frame.

Apron: carved with a central shield below the seat.

Legs: turned and carved front legs finishing in paw feet.

Upholstery: patterned upholstery as photographed. Any fabric or leather can be used instead, including your own material.

Finish: hand-applied gold over the carving. Silver, champagne, antiqued tones or plain polished teak are also available.

Size: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Photography: images on this page are of the actual product, not renders.

The spire finials are the highest and most slender points on this chair, so they set the shape of the packing.

Each spire gets a rigid foam collar that extends above its tip, so nothing can strike the point itself - the collar takes any contact first. Foam sleeves then run down the full height of both columns so they are supported continuously rather than at two points. The lion heads, the crest shield and the paw feet each get their own shaped collars.

A soft non-abrasive layer covers all the gilded surfaces and the upholstery so nothing coarse touches either, and the studded trim is covered with a smooth unfolded layer so no crease presses between the studs. Corrugated panels then build a rigid shell around the chair, with the base blocked and braced so its weight rests on the seat frame rather than the back. The outer carton is edge-reinforced. Everything unwraps by hand, no blades needed.

Free PAN-India delivery is included - no zone rates, no distance surcharge, no freight line at checkout. The chair costs the same delivered to Panaji as to Patiala.

Dent-free arrival is guaranteed. It leaves in multi-layer protective packaging, travels with handlers briefed on gilded, turned and carved furniture, and is checked at every transfer point. If anything is not right when you open it, tell us and we make it right - the guarantee sits with us, not with the transporter.

Because the chair is made to order, production begins once your upholstery, finish and measurements are confirmed in writing. You get a timeline at that point and updates as the chair moves through turning, carving, gilding and upholstery, then a dispatch note with an expected delivery window so you can plan around it.

The solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty. That covers the seat frame, the back frame, the corner columns and their jointed elements, the arm supports and the carved legs. If a joint opens or a member fails within those twenty years, we repair or replace it.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs alongside it and never expires. Teak's natural oils are why termites avoid it, and our seasoning and finishing routine is built around preserving them, so the timber is guaranteed for as long as the chair is yours.

The columns are the part people wonder about, since they are built from jointed elements. They are covered exactly like everything else - the joints are structural, on a shared spindle, not decorative glue lines. All of it holds because the chair is made from start to finish in our own workshop by the master Indian artisans who build every piece we sell, from timber we season ourselves.
