A designer diwan in solid teak with an antique silver carved frame and a deep buttoned back.

The seat is the distinctive part. Rather than ending square, it runs forward and curves round in one continuous rounded front, so the diwan has no hard corner at the foot end and can be walked past comfortably.

A line of close-set studs follows the seat rail around that whole curve, catching light along the edge and separating the covering from the carved apron below it.

Above, the back is deep buttoned and rises to a large pierced crest at the head end, with carved scrolls turning at both arms.

The antique silver finish is applied by hand and worked back on the raised areas, so the carving shows its own highlights and hollows.

Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

The rounded front of this seat has no pleats in it, and that is the hardest thing on the piece to achieve.

A seat that ends square can be covered in flat panels - front, side, top - each one meeting the next at a corner where any surplus material can be tucked away. This seat has no corner. The covering has to travel from the top face, over a rolled edge, round a continuous curve at the end and back along the side, all in one piece, with nothing gathered anywhere along the way.

Two things make that possible. The panel is cut on the cross rather than square to the weave, so the material has a natural give in the direction it needs to stretch. And it is worked round the curve gradually - eased and re-eased, a hand's width at a time, walking round the shape several times rather than pulling it tight in one pass.

Pull it tight in one pass and the surplus has to go somewhere: it appears as a pucker at the tightest part of the curve, and once it is there it cannot be worked out.

The stud line goes on last, following the finished edge and holding it.

Frame: solid teak throughout, hand-carved, finished in antique silver applied and worked back by hand.

Back: deep buttoned, rising to a large pierced carved crest at the head.

Seat: single full-length cushion with a continuous rounded front, on a sprung and webbed platform.

Studding: close-set stud line following the seat rail around the full curve.

Arms: carved scrolled arms at both ends.

Apron and legs: shaped carved apron with central motifs, on hand-shaped carved legs.

Handing: built with the crest to the left or the right, to your requirement.

Made to order: length, back height, seat depth, handing, finish and covering are all customisable. Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

The studs and the crest are the two things most likely to be damaged in transit, and both are handled specifically.

A protective strip is run over the full length of the stud line before wrapping, so nothing presses directly onto the stud heads or drags along them.

The pierced crest is supported with foam pressed into its openings and boxed on its own, with tissue over the silvered surfaces.

The rest of the silvered frame takes acid-free tissue directly against the finish, then foam padding shaped along each moulding, then bubble wrap.

The upholstery is wrapped in clean breathable cloth, then in soft polythene, with no pressure applied across the buttoned back or the rounded seat front.

Legs are detached where the design allows, sleeved in foam and boxed. Everything ships in a hardwood crate, corner-protected and marked for orientation. Multi-layer protective packaging is included on every order at no extra cost.

Free delivery anywhere in India, with guaranteed dent-free arrival. No distance charge, no size charge and no handling fee.

Production begins once your length, handing and covering are confirmed in writing. We photograph your actual diwan through the build - the frame in the white, the carving, the antique silver finish worked back, the seat front eased round the curve, the studding set, and the finished piece.

Our team carries the diwan in, fits the legs and crest if they have travelled separately, and sets and levels it in position.

Send us lift dimensions, stair turns and doorway widths ahead of dispatch so the route can be planned. Every photograph on this page is of the actual product, not a render.

The solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty - the seat rails, the shaped front rail, the back frame, the crest, the arm frames and the leg joints, along with every joint between them.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs with the diwan and never expires. Teak's natural oils are its own protection and our warranty stands behind them.

The sprung and webbed platform, the buttoning and the studding are covered against manufacturing defect.

The antique silver finish is worked back by hand, which means it is not a single flat colour but a sequence of steps, and that sequence is recorded against your order number along with the covering. A later repair follows the same steps rather than trying to match the result by eye. Contact us with your order number and we will arrange it.
