A gold side table in solid teak, hand-carved and gilded by master Indian artisans, made entirely to your measurements.

It is a sculptural piece rather than a quiet one, and it works best where it can be seen from more than one side - beside a chair in an open room, at the end of a bed, in a wide hallway - because the flowing form changes considerably as you move around it.

Two drawers keep it useful. The fronts curve with the case, so storage is there without breaking the line.

The rose carving can be made denser or sparser, or moved to fall where you want it. Because the composition is asymmetric by design, it is genuinely adjustable rather than fixed by symmetry.

Photographs on this page show the actual piece our artisans produced, not a computer render.

Almost all carved ornament on furniture is symmetrical, and there is a practical reason for it: symmetry is easy to judge. A carver can check the left against the right, and so can the customer. Get one side wrong and the error announces itself.

Asymmetric carving has no such safety net. A rose spray growing up a leg has nothing to be measured against - it is either well composed or it is not, and the only judge is the carver's eye.

That is why the sprays on this table are drawn onto the finished shape rather than transferred from a pattern. Our carvers work with the piece assembled and in front of them, marking where a stem will start, where it will turn, which bloom sits highest and which is half-hidden behind a leaf. A spray that runs up a curving leg has to accelerate as the curve tightens, or it looks stuck on.

The blooms are then carved at different depths and different angles - some facing you, some turned away, one or two barely opened. Real roses on a stem never all face the same direction, and a carving in which they do reads as pattern rather than as plant.

It takes longer than symmetrical work and it cannot be checked by folding the design in half. It is also why no two of these tables are ever quite identical.

Material: Solid teak throughout - case, both drawer boxes and shaped fronts, top and legs. No veneer over engineered board.

Construction: Case and legs shaped as one continuous flowing line from solid stock, asymmetric hand-carved rose sprays composed in situ, curved drawer fronts shaped to the case, carved rosette handles, scrolled feet.

Storage: Two drawers. Counts, depths and internal fittings are configurable.

Finish: Hand-applied gold leaf, as photographed. Silver or champagne leaf, painted tones or natural teak can be specified instead.

Dimensions: Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Available: Singly, or as a mirrored pair with the flow reversed.

Made: Handcrafted Indian luxury, produced to order by master Indian artisans.

A flowing form has projections in unexpected places, so this table is packed to a shape rather than to a box. Contoured foam is cut to follow the sweep of the corner and the outward turn of each foot, and it holds the piece at its widest points so nothing else can touch the crate.

Because every surface is gilded, the layer laid directly against the table is soft, lint-free and applied without tension - burnished leaf marks under pressure long before timber does.

The carved rose sprays stand proud in several places, including low on the legs where they are easily caught. Each spray is bridged with foam that bears on the surrounding surface and never onto a bloom, and the scrolled feet get their own rigid guards.

Both drawers are removed or secured shut so nothing can run out of a curved opening and strike a front.

The table then goes into a rigid outer carton braced internally against movement. Ordered as a mirrored pair, each is crated separately. Dent-free arrival is guaranteed.

Free delivery is included anywhere in India, with no distance surcharge and nothing added at the end. Metros, tier-two cities and smaller towns are served on the same terms, and a pair ships on the same free terms as a single table.

Production begins once your dimensions, drawer layout, carving density and finish are confirmed in writing. Asymmetric carving is composed on the assembled piece and gilding needs curing time between stages, so we give you an honest timeline and keep you updated as it moves through shaping, carving, gilding and burnishing.

We dispatch through carriers experienced with gilded and carved furniture, and send tracking details as soon as it leaves us.

On arrival our team brings the table in, positions it, checks it stands true on your floor and that the drawers run cleanly, and removes all packaging. Dent-free arrival is guaranteed - if anything is not right, tell us and we will resolve it.

The solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty - the case, both drawer boxes and their shaped fronts, the flowing corner members and the feet.

The corner that sweeps from case to leg is the structural heart of this design and is fully covered. It is shaped from thick solid stock with the grain laid to run around the curve, so the fibre carrying the load is continuous from the top of the case to the foot - there is no joint at the point where the piece changes direction, which is where a table built as box-plus-legs would take all its stress.

The curved drawer fronts are shaped from solid teak rather than bent and faced, so nothing can lift along the sweep.

The teak carries a lifetime warranty against termite damage for as long as you own the piece, from the oils in the timber rather than the leaf above them.

If anything covered needs attention, send us your order details and photographs and our artisans will handle the repair or replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this product.

Because the form is not. The roses are composed on the assembled piece so a spray grows up a curving leg the way a real stem would, at varying depths and angles. Symmetrical carving on a flowing shape reads as pattern stuck onto sculpture.

Two will be extremely close but never identical, because each spray is composed by hand rather than transferred from a pattern. If you want a pair, we build them as mirrored partners so the flow runs toward each other.

Yes. Silver or champagne leaf, a painted colour you send us, or natural teak with a clear finish. The sculptural form reads very differently in bare wood - quieter, and the carving becomes about grain rather than shine.

No. That corner is shaped from thick solid stock with the grain laid around the curve, so the member runs unbroken from the top of the case to the foot. It is the reason the design holds up structurally as well as visually.

Yes, shaped from solid teak to follow the case rather than bent from a thin sheet, so the curve is the shape of the timber and the line across the front stays unbroken.

Yes. The rose sprays can be denser, sparser, or positioned where you want them - and because the composition is asymmetric by design, moving them is a genuine choice rather than something symmetry dictates.

Any size that suits your room. Height, width, depth and drawer depths are all set by you and confirmed in writing before we cut timber. Tell us the chair or bed height it will sit beside and we will work to it.

A 20-year warranty on the solid teak frame and joinery, including the flowing corner members and both drawer boxes, plus a lifetime warranty against termite damage on the teak.
