A bombe chest of drawers in solid teak, hand-made and polished in a warm tone.

The shape is the piece: a double curve across the front and down the height, with curved sides to match, so the chest reads as a swelling form rather than as a box with a shaped face.

Three deep drawers run the full width, all following that curve, with a running inlaid scroll worked into each front in a lighter timber and a brass plate at the centre.

Brass mounts run down both front corners and finish in sabots at the feet, with a further mount at the centre of the shaped apron.

The top is solid, shaped to the same plan, with a moulded edge.

Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

The brass mounts on the corners of this chest are set into the timber, not laid on top of it, and that single difference is what makes them look part of the piece.

A cast mount is a rigid object. The corner of a bombe chest is a surface curving in two directions at once. Bring the two together as they are and the mount touches at a couple of points and stands away everywhere else, leaving a shadow gap along its edges that no amount of polishing hides - and dust settles in that gap for the rest of the chest's life.

So each mount is bedded. It is laid in position and its outline scribed onto the timber, then the wood inside that line is cut away by a shade - following the mount's own back profile, not a flat recess - until the mount drops into the surface and sits down along its whole edge.

Every mount is fitted to its own place. They are not interchangeable afterwards, so each is marked, and they go back to the same corner after finishing.

The result is a brass edge that meets the polished timber with no line of shadow between them.

Material: solid teak in the carcass, drawer boxes, drawer fronts, curved sides, apron and feet.

Form: bombe - curved across the front, down the height and on both sides.

Drawers: three full-width shaped drawers on side runners with stops.

Inlay: running scroll inlaid into each drawer front in a lighter timber.

Brass: cast corner mounts bedded into the timber, escutcheon plates to the drawer fronts, apron mount and sabots at the feet.

Top: solid, shaped to the serpentine plan, with a moulded edge.

Finish: warm polished tone with the figure of the timber left visible.

Made to order: height, width, depth, drawer count, inlay pattern, brass and finish are all customisable. Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

The brass mounts stand proud at both front corners and along the apron, so a soft foam pad is laid over each before wrapping and nothing bears directly on them.

Acid-free tissue goes directly against the polished timber, then foam sheet, then bubble wrap, with rigid board across the shaped top and extra padding along the curved sides where they project furthest.

All three drawers are removed, wrapped individually and labelled with their positions, so the runners carry no load and the inlaid fronts never rub together.

The brass sabots at the feet are the lowest points and the first to meet a threshold, so each foot is separately foam-blocked.

The chest ships in a hardwood crate with corner protection at every arris and orientation and lift markings. Multi-layer protective packaging is included on every order at no extra cost.

Delivery is free anywhere in India, with guaranteed dent-free arrival. There is no distance charge, no size charge and no handling fee.

Production begins once your dimensions are confirmed in writing. We photograph your actual chest through the build - the bombe carcass in the white, the inlay laid into the drawer fronts, the mounts bedded into the corners, the polishing, and the finished piece.

On site, our team places and levels the chest and refits each drawer in its marked position.

Send us lift dimensions, stair turns and doorway widths ahead of dispatch so the route can be planned - a bombe chest is wider at its middle than at its top or base, which is worth measuring for. Every photograph on this page is of the actual product, not a render.

The solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty - the carcass, the shaped sides, the drawer boxes, the apron and the feet, along with every joint between them.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs with the chest and never expires. Teak's own oils are its first protection and our warranty is the second.

Drawer runners, brass mounts and hardware are covered against manufacturing defect. Because each mount is bedded to its own position, they are marked and recorded, so anything removed for service goes back exactly where it came from.

The polish specification and the inlay timber are recorded against your order number for future matching. Contact us with your order number and we will arrange it.
