A dressing table with cupboard storage in solid teak, hand-carved by master Indian artisans in a warm cream finish, made entirely to your measurements.

Two full cupboards and three drawers give it more capacity than a seated vanity of the same width, because no space is lost to a knee recess. The cupboards take tall items easily; the drawers handle everything that should stay separated and visible.

The relief scrollwork on the doors is the reason to choose this design over a plainer one. It is the most labour in the piece and the thing that will still be drawing comment in twenty years.

The scalloped mirror is cut glass, not a rectangle behind a shaped frame, so the reflection itself follows the lobed outline.

If you would rather sit at it, the same design can be built with a central knee recess and a matching stool. Photographs on this page show the actual piece our artisans made, not a computer render.

The mirror on this piece is not a rectangle hidden behind a shaped frame. The glass itself is cut to the scalloped outline, three lobes across the top, and that is a far less common thing than it looks.

Mirror glass does not like curves. A straight cut is scored once and snapped along the line, and the break follows the score because the stress runs cleanly. A curve has no such cooperation - the score wants to run off tangentially at every point, and a mirror this size will part in the wrong direction and be lost if the pressure is applied even slightly unevenly.

So shaped glass is cut in stages. The outline is scored, then relieved with a series of shorter cuts running out to the waste edge, and the waste is taken away piece by piece rather than in one break. Each lobe is worked separately. Only after the shape is free is the edge ground back to the true line and polished.

Then it has to match the frame. The carved timber surround was shaped to a template, and the glass has to sit in it with an even reveal all round - so the frame is finished first and the glass is cut to the frame, never the other way round.

It is the reason we shape the frame and cut the glass as one operation rather than ordering a stock mirror to drop in.

Material: Solid teak throughout - carcass, carved doors, drawer boxes, top, legs and mirror frame. No veneer over engineered board.

Construction: High-relief openwork scroll carving worked into solid cupboard doors, bombe carcass with fully rounded ends, bow-front drawers shaped from solid stock, carved top band, apron and scrolled legs.

Storage: Two cupboards with three bow-front drawers between them. Layout, internal shelving, drawer counts and fittings are configurable.

Mirror: Glass cut to a scalloped three-lobe outline in a carved frame with pierced crest.

Finish: Warm cream with champagne-cast carving as photographed. Any tone and gilding level can be specified.

Configuration: Built for standing use as shown, or with a central knee recess and matching stool.

Dimensions: Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Made: Handcrafted Indian luxury, produced to order by master Indian artisans.

Shaped glass is more vulnerable than rectangular glass, because a lobed edge concentrates stress at every reversal in the curve. The mirror travels crated alone, faced, backed with a rigid board across the full frame, and cushioned continuously along the scalloped outline rather than at corners - there are no corners to brace against.

The carved cupboard doors are the other fragile element. Foam is shaped to bridge over the openwork so it bears on the door stiles and never presses into a scroll, and both doors are secured shut with their hinges relieved of load.

The carcass is wrapped in a soft, lint-free layer laid on without tension, then given contoured foam that follows the bombe swell and the rounded ends continuously. The carved top band and the apron get extra thickness, and the scrolled legs are guarded individually.

Drawers are removed or locked so nothing can run out and strike a bowed front. Everything then goes into rigid, internally braced outer cartons, and we guarantee the piece arrives dent-free.

Free delivery is included anywhere in India, with no distance surcharge and nothing added at the end. Metros, tier-two cities and smaller towns are served on the same terms.

Production starts once your dimensions, storage layout, carving depth, mirror outline and finish are confirmed in writing. Openwork door carving and shaped glass cutting are both slow, precise stages, so we give you an honest timeline then and keep you updated as the piece moves through carving, door fitting, glass cutting, assembly and finishing.

We dispatch through carriers experienced with carved solid wood and mirrored furniture, and send tracking details as soon as it leaves us.

On arrival our team brings the piece in, positions and levels it, checks that both carved doors close cleanly, mounts the mirror and removes every piece of packaging. Dent-free arrival is guaranteed - if anything is not right, tell us and we will resolve it.

The solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty - the carcass, both carved doors and their hinges, all three drawer boxes, the top, the carved legs and the mirror frame.

Doors carved this deeply are the part that most needs solid timber behind the guarantee. Taking the ground down behind a scroll pattern removes a great deal of material from a panel that still has to hang square and close cleanly. Because each door is worked from thick solid teak chosen for the carving that will go into it, the panel keeps its rigidity where a thinner or layered door would twist.

The bow-front drawers are covered too. Their fronts are shaped from solid stock rather than bent and faced, so there is no laminate under tension along the curve.

The teak carries a lifetime warranty against termite damage for as long as you own the piece, from the oils in the timber rather than the finish over them.

If anything covered needs attention, send us your order details and photographs and our artisans will handle the repair or replacement.
