A black and gold showcase in solid teak, hand-carved and gilded, bow-fronted with curved glass at both ends.

The display area takes most of the height. Glazed doors open at the centre, the bowed ends are glazed in shaped glass, and the back is mirrored so the depth of the cabinet reads as double what it is. Glass shelves run through the whole section.

Below the glass line, the lower panels are worked with a quilted lattice and gilded, giving a fine, broken gold surface rather than a plain one.

The carving is concentrated top and bottom - a pierced crest above the cornice, scrolled gilt work along the base and out into the feet - so the middle of the cabinet stays clear for the display.

It suits a drawing room or a bar area where a dark, high-contrast piece is wanted rather than a pale one.

Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

The quilted lattice on the lower panels is cut shallow on purpose, and the depth is settled with a test piece before a single panel is carved.

The instinct with a carved texture is to cut it deep, because depth gives shadow. But this texture is going to be gilded, and gilding behaves differently from paint. It is laid over a prepared ground that itself has thickness, and it flows into the bottom of every cut. On a deep, narrow groove, the preparation and the gold together round off the sharp bottom corner, and what began as a crisp diamond grid ends up as a soft ripple.

So our artisans work a sample panel first - the same pattern at two or three different depths - take it right through preparation and gilding, and set it up in the light. The depth that still reads as a defined grid after the gold is on is the depth chosen, and it is always shallower than the one that looks best in bare timber.

Only then is the pattern set out on the real panels, worked around the curve of the bow so the grid stays even where the surface turns away.

Material: solid teak in the carcass, door frames, panels, crest, base and feet.

Front: bowed, with glazed centre doors.

Ends: bowed and glazed with shaped glass.

Back: mirrored across the display section.

Interior: glass shelves on concealed supports.

Lower panels: hand-carved quilted lattice, worked at a depth proven on a gilded sample, then gilded.

Carving: deeply pierced crest over the cornice, gilded scrollwork to the base rail, carved and gilded feet.

Finish: black ground with hand-applied gold to all carved and textured work.

Made to order: height, width, depth, shelf spacing, lattice pattern and finish are all customisable. Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

A gloss black surface shows everything, so nothing textured is ever allowed to touch it. Acid-free tissue goes on first across the whole case, then foam sheet, then bubble wrap, with rigid board over the largest flat areas.

The pierced gilded crest is supported with foam pressed into each opening, then boxed on its own. The carved gilded feet get the same individual treatment.

Shaped end panes are taped across the face and bedded in foam cut to their curve, crated apart from the cabinet. The glazed doors are unhung and crated flat. The mirror is taped in a grid across its face, sleeved and crated separately.

Glass shelves ship in a slotted box with foam dividers, hardware in a labelled pack.

All crates are hardwood with corner protection at every arris and orientation markings. Multi-layer protective packaging is included with every order at no extra cost.

Production begins once your dimensions are confirmed in writing. We photograph your actual showcase through the build - the bowed carcass, the gilded sample panel used to set the lattice depth, the carving, the black finish, the gilding, and the cabinet glazed and mirrored.

On site, our team places and levels the cabinet, fits the mirror, hangs the doors, installs the shaped end panes and fits the glass shelves last, so no glass is under load until the piece is standing in its final position.

Send us lift dimensions, stair turns and doorway widths before dispatch so the route can be planned in advance. Every photograph on this page is of the actual product, not a render.

The solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty - the bowed carcass, the door frames, the base structure, the feet and every joint between them.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs with the showcase and never lapses. Teak's own oils are its first line of protection and our warranty is the second.

Glass, shaped end panes, mirror, shelves and hardware are covered against manufacturing defect. The curved glass is formed to your own cabinet and the radius is kept on our records, so a replacement fits precisely.

Black and gold is the least forgiving finish to match by eye, so both are recorded against your order number - the exact black and the exact gold used on your cabinet. Any later retouch is mixed and laid to that record. Contact us with your order number and we will arrange it.
