A tufted bed is one where the upholstery is drawn down at regular points into a pattern, and this one uses two different versions of that idea: diamond buttoning across a tall headboard and vertical fluting across the footboard, both on a hand-carved solid teak frame finished in copper.

The beige shown suits the copper carving, and any colour is possible. Send us your own fabric and we will use it, or tell us the shade and texture you want and we will source options and send photographs before anything is cut.

The carving finish is equally open - copper as shown, or gold, silver, antique bronze, ivory or natural teak tones - and the bedside chests can be made in a matching finish or in a contrasting wood tone as pictured.

Sizes are built to your room: king, queen, double or a custom width, with headboard height set to your wall. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed with you in writing before production begins.

This is handcrafted Indian luxury from master Indian artisans, carved and upholstered by hand. Solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty, the bed is covered for life against termite damage, and delivery anywhere in India is free with guaranteed dent-free arrival.

Buttoning and fluting solve the same problem in opposite ways. Both exist to hold padding in place across a large surface, but buttoning does it at points and fluting does it in lines, and the two catch light completely differently - one in scattered highlights, the other in long continuous bands. Using both on one bed is a deliberate contrast, not an inconsistency.

Fluting is the older of the two in furniture terms, borrowed directly from the fluted column, where vertical channels were cut into stone to make a heavy cylinder look lighter and taller. Upholsterers took the same trick: a channelled footboard reads as slimmer than a flat one of identical size.

The judgement our master Indian artisans make on a bed like this is about how little carving to use. With upholstery covering most of the surface, carving becomes an outline, and an outline works by being thin and continuous. Every scroll here is cut to a consistent width so the line never thickens or breaks - which sounds simple and is the hardest thing in the piece.

Material: Solid teak frame throughout, including headboard, footboard, rails and the bedside chests.

Headboard: Tall shaped dome buttoned in a close diamond grid, slim carved frame with rose clusters at the shoulders and a pierced centre crest.

Footboard: Vertically fluted upholstery fanning from the centre, carved rose and leaf swag above from a central shell, carved corner volutes on carved feet.

Upholstery: Shown in soft beige, and made in any fabric and colour you choose.

Finish: Carving shown in a warm copper tone, and available in gold, silver, antique bronze, ivory or natural teak tones.

Bedside chests: Two drawers each, moulded fronts, carved feet, in a matching or contrasting wood tone. Included as shown, available in any quantity.

Storage: Available with hydraulic lift-up storage or base drawers designed in.

Sizes: Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Buttoned and fluted upholstery both mark if anything is allowed to press on them, so both panels are bagged in breathable covers first and every layer after that bears on the carved frame rather than on the fabric.

The slim carved outline is the thinnest element on this bed, and thin carving is what snaps in transit, so the frame is foam-faced along its full length and the rose clusters at the shoulders given individual foam shells.

The pierced crest is supported from both faces. The footboard swag, which stands proud of the fluting, is blocked at its high points, and the carved volutes and feet are collared separately.

Rails are bundled and edge-guarded, fittings sealed in a labelled pouch, and the chests packed with drawers secured. Everything is crated together with handling instructions marked outside. Every photograph on this page is of the actual bed, taken before packing - real furniture, not a render.

Delivery is free across India and included in the price you are quoted, with no freight, packing or handling charge added at any later stage.

Production begins once your size, fabric and finish are confirmed in writing. We give you a realistic timeline then and send photographs of your own bed as the frame is carved, finished and upholstered.

On arrival the bed is carried in and assembled in your bedroom: headboard and footboard joined to the rails, everything levelled to your floor, the upholstery checked over, and the bedside chests set where you want them. We guarantee dent-free arrival, and if anything is not right when you see it, tell us and we will make it right.

The solid teak frame and joinery of this bed are covered for 20 years - the headboard structure behind the buttoning, the footboard, the rails and every joint between them. On a bed that is mostly upholstered, the frame is entirely hidden from the day it arrives, and that is exactly why it is the part worth guaranteeing.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs alongside for as long as the bed is yours, backed by teak's natural resistance and set out in writing.

Fabric is the element that dates first in any room, and re-covering here is straightforward: we work from the specification of your exact bed, so a new headboard panel is buttoned to the same grid and a new footboard channelled to the same flute widths. The carved finish can be refreshed the same way, and fittings replaced with parts made for your piece. Our own master Indian artisans do the work and explain it to you before starting.
