A poster bed is one with a tall post at each corner, and this one is carved from solid teak with an arched crown headboard, a medallion footboard and a walnut finish. It is shown as a set with two matching three-drawer bedside chests, and it is built for you rather than picked off a shelf.

The size is yours to set. King, queen, a custom width to fit a room you already have, a higher or lower headboard to sit above or below a window line, posts taller or shorter to suit your ceiling: tell us the numbers and we build to them. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed with you in writing before production starts.

The finish is equally open. This walnut tone is one option among many, from lighter honey teak through to deep espresso, and we match a sample or a photograph if you are working to something already in the room.

It is handcrafted Indian luxury made the slow way by master Indian artisans, hand-carved rather than machine-pressed. Solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty, the bed is covered for life against termite damage, and delivery across India is free with guaranteed dent-free arrival.

Posts on a bed began as structure. They held the curtains that kept out cold, insects and household noise in an age when a bedroom was rarely a private room. When those needs fell away, the posts stayed, because a room reads better when something rises at its corners and gives the eye a vertical to travel.

This bed keeps the posts and drops the canopy, which is why it suits a modern ceiling height. You get the presence of a four-poster without a frame overhead closing the room in.

The book-matched headboard panel comes from a different tradition: the cabinetmaker's habit of opening a board like a book so the two faces mirror each other. It costs more wood and more time to do, because the boards have to come from the same log and be laid together in the right order, and the result is a pattern that cannot be repeated on another bed. Our master Indian artisans select and lay those panels by eye, then carve the medallion into the centre so ornament and grain read as one design rather than two.

Material: Solid teak throughout, including posts, headboard, footboard, rails and the bedside chests.

Headboard: Arched top with pierced foliate crest, book-matched centre panel, carved oval medallion, moulded surround.

Footboard: Serpentine top rail, carved centre roundel, carved apron between the posts.

Posts: Four turned corner posts in stepped rings with shaped finials, standing on turned and carved feet.

Bedside chests: Three drawers each, moulded drawer fronts with metal pulls, carved bracket feet. Included as shown and available in any number you want.

Finish: Shown in a warm walnut tone with hand-rubbed polish, and available in any teak tone from natural honey to deep espresso, matched to your sample.

Storage: Built plain as shown, and available with hydraulic lift-up storage or drawers in the base if you want it - tell us and we design it in.

Sizes: Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Finials and carved crests are the parts that suffer in transit, so they are packed first. Each finial is foam-collared around its turned profile, and the pierced crest of the headboard is faced with soft foam on both sides before any firm layer touches it.

The headboard and footboard travel as separate wrapped panels with edge guards along every moulded edge, then boxed with rigid corner protection. Posts are wrapped individually. Side rails are bundled with their fittings, which travel in their own labelled pouch so no metal moves against carved teak.

The bedside chests are packed with drawers secured shut and the carved feet given their own foam blocks. Everything is then crated together and marked with handling instructions.

The layers are generous on purpose, because a bed carved by hand over weeks should not depend on one sheet of wrap. Every photograph on this page is of the actual furniture, taken before packing - real product, not a render.

Delivery is free anywhere in India, included in the price. No freight, packing or handling charge is added afterwards, whether the bed is going across the city or across the country.

Production begins once you have confirmed your size, finish and any storage option in writing. We give you a realistic timeline at that point and send photographs of your own bed as the carving and polishing progress.

On arrival the bed is carried in and assembled in your bedroom: posts stood, headboard and footboard joined to the rails, everything levelled and the bedside chests set in place. We guarantee dent-free arrival, and if anything is not right when you see it, tell us and we will put it right.

The solid teak frame and joinery of this bed are covered for 20 years. That means the posts, the headboard and footboard structure, the side rails and every joint holding them together - which is where a bed is tested, since a bed frame carries load every night for decades.

Running alongside it is a lifetime warranty against termite damage, for as long as the bed is yours. Teak's own oils keep termites away and we put that in writing rather than leaving it as a claim about the wood.

Fittings are another thing worth knowing about years later. Rail brackets, drawer runners and pulls can all be replaced, and because we keep the specification of your exact bed on file, we can send the correct parts for it rather than something approximate. Any work on the carving or the polish is handled by our own master Indian artisans, and we tell you what it involves and how long it takes before we start.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this product.

A poster bed has a tall post at each of its four corners. This one has turned posts rising to shaped finials with no canopy frame across the top, so you get the height and presence of a four-poster while the ceiling stays open.

Yes. We can extend the posts and add a canopy frame over the top, with or without carving on the rails, and with curtain rods if you want fabric. Tell us your ceiling height and we design the proportions around it.

Any size you need. King, queen, or a width and length set to your own room and mattress. Give us the mattress dimensions and the wall you want it on, and we confirm the final measurements with you in writing before production.

They are shown as part of this set and included as pictured. You can also have one instead of two, or more of them, and we can add a matching dresser or bench in the same carving so the room reads as one suite.

Yes. We build hydraulic lift-up storage under the mattress platform, or drawers in the base, whichever suits how you use the room. Tell us at the design stage and it is built in from the start.

Yes. The centre panel is book-matched, which means two faces of the same board opened out so the grain mirrors down the middle. Because it comes from one log, the pattern on your bed will be unique to it.

Yes. The walnut tone shown is one of many. We finish it anywhere from pale honey teak to deep espresso, and we will match a photograph or a physical sample if you are working to existing furniture.

The solid teak frame and joinery are covered for 20 years, and there is a lifetime warranty against termite damage. Delivery across India is free, with guaranteed dent-free arrival.
