A showcase with lights is a different object from a showcase with a lamp near it. Built-in lighting puts the light source inside the cabinet, above the display, where it falls on the faces of what you are showing rather than on the glass in front of it.

This one is solid teak, hand-carved by master Indian artisans, finished in cream with pale gold carving. Glass shelves throughout, glazed ends, drawers in the base.

Because every shelf is glass, one set of lights at the head illuminates the whole cabinet down to the bottom.

Every showcase is made to order and fully customisable. Width, height, depth, shelf spacing, plate grooves, drawer count, lighting arrangement and finish are all specified by you, with dimensions confirmed in writing before production.

The solid teak carcass and joinery carry a 20-year warranty plus lifetime cover against termite damage. Delivery is free anywhere in India, guaranteed dent-free.

Where you put the light in a display cabinet matters more than how bright it is, and almost everyone puts it in the wrong place.

The instinct is to fix the light at the top of the cabinet against the back panel, tucked out of sight. Do that and the beam runs straight down the back board. It lights the back of the cabinet beautifully and leaves everything on the shelves as a silhouette, because the objects are lit from behind rather than in front.

So our master Indian artisans set the lights at the head of the cabinet but forward - just behind the top rail, in front of the shelf line - so the beam falls down onto the fronts of what is displayed. The objects are lit on the face you are looking at.

The second decision is the shelves. Timber shelves stop light dead at the first one. Glass shelves let it pass, so a single set of lights at the head reaches the bottom of the cabinet. That is why every shelf here is glass and not one of them is solid.

Both decisions have to be made before the carcass is built, because the wiring runs inside the timber. Neither can be added afterwards without cutting into a finished cabinet.

Material: solid teak carcass, doors and frame, hand-carved. No veneer, no engineered board.

Configuration: three glazed bays with a taller arched centre pair and glazed ends; drawers in the outer base sections; carved panel with gilded medallion at the centre base.

Lighting: concealed lights built into the head, set forward of the shelf line so the beam falls on the faces of the display; wiring run inside the carcass.

Shelving: glass throughout so light passes down the full height; plate grooves cut to order; adjustable supports available.

Carving and finish: carved crest above the cornice, carved corner brackets, gilded medallion and mouldings; cream ground with pale gold carving, sealed for durability.

Sizes: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production, including access dimensions.

Warranty: 20 years on the solid teak carcass and joinery; lifetime cover against termite damage.

Glass shelves travel out of the cabinet, laid flat, interleaved and edge-guarded. Where plate grooves have been cut, each shelf is packed individually so the grooved edge is never in contact with another sheet.

The glazed doors are secured closed, braced and protected across each pane. The end panes stay in their housings, protected across their full face. Drawers are secured shut and blocked.

Lighting is fitted and secured before packing, with the wiring restrained so nothing can pull inside the carcass in transit.

A soft, clean non-abrasive layer goes against the cream ground first, and the carved crest, corner brackets, gilded medallion and carved feet each receive individually shaped protection.

The carcass enters a rigid outer crate with cushioning on every face, corner protection and strapping. This is why dent-free arrival is guaranteed.

Delivery is free across India - no freight charge, no distance surcharge, and no difference between a metro address and a smaller town.

Because every showcase is made to order, we confirm your finished dimensions, your shelf and lighting arrangement and your access dimensions - doorway widths, stair turns, lift size - in writing before production begins. Lighting in particular has to be agreed before the carcass is built, since the wiring runs inside the timber.

Once complete it is packed as described and dispatched with a carrier used to handling carved furniture and glass. You are contacted ahead of delivery so someone can be present.

Arrival is guaranteed dent-free. If any transit damage has occurred, photograph it while the delivery team is present and contact us - we will resolve it. On site the cabinet is levelled, the shelves are fitted and the lighting is tested before the team leaves.

The solid teak carcass and its joinery carry a 20-year warranty from the day the showcase reaches you - the frame, the glazed door construction and hinging, the glazing housings, the shelf supports, the drawer runners, the lighting housings and wiring runs, and the cornice and crest joints.

Lifetime cover against termite damage applies for the life of the furniture rather than a fixed number of years. Because the piece is seasoned solid teak throughout - carcass, doors, drawers, back and internal fittings - there is no board core anywhere for insects to reach.

If a warranty issue arises, send us photographs and we will assess and repair or replace. The lighting installation - housings, wiring runs and switching built into the cabinet - is covered as part of the joinery. Glazed door alignment and drawer running are covered too. Both warranties apply anywhere in India.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this product.

Concealed in the head of the cabinet, set forward of the shelf line so the beam falls on the fronts of what you display rather than down the back panel. Lighting can also be added under each shelf if you prefer.

Yes, because every shelf is glass. Light passes down through them instead of stopping at the first one. That is why we do not use timber shelves in a lit cabinet.

It is far better fitted at the time of making, because the wiring runs inside the carcass. Adding it afterwards means cutting into finished timber. Tell us before production and it is built in properly.

Yes. Plate grooves can be cut into any shelf so plates stand upright without slipping. Tell us the plate sizes and which shelves you want grooved.

Yes. Adjustable supports can be built in, though note that fixed lighting is positioned for a particular shelf layout, so tell us if you expect to move shelves often.

Whatever supports the display - cloths, cases, cutlery, papers. Drawer count and depth are specified by you before production.

Yes. The cream-and-gold shown can be built in ivory, white, grey, a dark ground with gilded carving, or a natural teak polish.

20 years on the solid teak carcass and joinery, including the built-in lighting housings and wiring runs, plus lifetime cover against termite damage. Both apply anywhere in India.
