A dining room buffet with a glazed hutch above it, hand-carved in solid teak and finished in ivory with gold detail and painted flowers.

The buffet section is the working half. Its top is a clear serving surface, the centre drawers take flatware and table linen, and the side cupboards hold platters and larger pieces. The whole front curves forward, so the piece reads as furniture rather than a box against the wall.

The hutch above is the display half. Three glazed bays, an arched centre with a shaped door head, glass shelves throughout so nothing casts a shadow onto the shelf below, and a carved crest that gives the piece its full height.

Painting is done by hand on the door and drawer faces, so each bouquet is its own. Gold is confined to the carved edges and cartouches.

The two halves are built separately and joined on site. Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

The single measurement that makes this piece usable is the setback - how far the hutch sits behind the front edge of the buffet below it.

Get it wrong and the furniture fights you. Too little setback and you cannot put a hot dish down without your forearm coming up against glass. Too much and the buffet top turns into a shelf you have to lean over, and the whole cabinet looks top-heavy and pushed back.

Our artisans set it by arm, not by rule. Someone stands at the buffet at serving height and goes through the motion - lift, place, slide back, lift again - while the hutch is held at different depths behind them. The setback is fixed where that motion is comfortable for an average reach, and then the moulding that runs along the front of the buffet top is designed to that same line so the joint between the two sections looks deliberate rather than left over.

The carving on the crest is set out afterwards, because the crest has to look centred over the hutch as seen from where you stand at the table - not from directly in front.

Material: solid teak in the carcass, doors, drawer boxes, hutch frame and feet.

Configuration: two-part - lower buffet with curved front, upper glazed hutch set back from the buffet top.

Buffet: centre drawer stack, side cupboards with shelving, shaped and carved panel fronts, carved scroll feet.

Hutch: three glazed bays with an arched centre door head, canted side bays, glass shelves, pierced carved crest.

Finish: ivory ground, hand-applied gold on the carving, hand-painted floral sprays on the panel faces.

Carving: scrolled cartouches, foliate borders, shell crest and shaped base rails, all cut by hand.

Made to order: width, height, depth, drawer and cupboard layout, hutch bay count, ivory tone, gold weight and floral palette are all customisable. Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

The two sections are packed as two entirely separate consignments, because they have different weak points.

The hutch travels with its glazed doors removed and crated flat, each pane taped across the face and sleeved in foam. The arched centre pane, being shaped, gets its own foam bed cut to the arch so it cannot shift.

The buffet travels assembled. Its top surface is the piece most likely to be marked, so it is covered in acid-free tissue, then foam sheet, then a rigid board laid across the whole top before the outer wrap goes on. The curved painted fronts get tissue directly against the paint and foam over it.

The pierced crest and the carved feet are packed individually with foam blocked around each projection.

Both crates are hardwood, corner-protected, and marked for orientation and lift points. Multi-layer protective packaging comes as standard on every order at no additional charge.

Delivery is free anywhere in India and the piece arrives dent-free, guaranteed. No distance charge, no size charge, no handling fee.

Production begins once your measurements are confirmed in writing. We send photographs of your actual buffet and hutch at the carcass stage, after carving, and again once the painting and gilding are finished, so you see the real furniture rather than a sample.

Because the two halves ship separately, the approach is far easier than it would be for a single tall cabinet. Our team brings in the buffet, levels it against your floor, then lifts the hutch into place on it and fits the glass shelves and doors last.

Tell us before dispatch about lift sizes, stairwell turns and doorway widths and we plan the route in advance. Every image on this page is a photograph of the actual product, never a render.

The solid teak frame and joinery of both sections - buffet and hutch - carry a 20-year warranty. That includes the carcass, the door and drawer frames, the hutch uprights and the joints between them.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs with the piece and never expires. Teak's natural oils are the reason it has been trusted for Indian furniture for generations, and our warranty stands behind that.

Drawer runners, hinges, glass and shelves are covered against manufacturing defect. The buffet top takes daily use, so it is finished to a standard we are happy to guarantee.

Because the ivory, the gold and the floral work are all applied by hand and recorded against your order, we can match them years later if you want a panel refreshed. Get in touch with your order number and we will arrange it.
