A French dressing table in solid teak, hand-carved by master Indian artisans in a soft white finish and made entirely to your measurements, supplied with a matching buttoned stool.

It is a light piece by design. There are no pedestals and no plinth - the table stands open on four legs, so it takes very little visual weight in a bedroom and can sit against a wall that would feel crowded by anything heavier.

Five drawers give useful separation: two small deck drawers for jewellery at hand height, and three shallower frieze drawers below.

The oval mirror stands on the table rather than being fixed to the wall, so it travels with the piece and can be moved with it.

Photographs on this page show the actual set our artisans produced, not a computer render.

Look where the frieze meets the top of each leg. A carved scroll flows out of the corner of the table and down onto the leg, and there is no visible break between them - the ornament crosses from one component to the other as if the whole thing were carved from a single piece.

It is not, and it cannot be. A cabriole leg is cut from a thick block; the frieze is a separate rail; they meet at a joint. But if the carving simply stopped at that joint, the eye would read the leg as bolted on, and the flowing line that defines this style would break at exactly the point where it matters most.

The solution is a knee bracket - a small shaped piece glued into the angle between the two before any carving begins. Once it is in place and the glue has cured, the carver treats the leg, the bracket and the frieze corner as one surface and cuts the scroll straight across all three.

The grain of the bracket has to be chosen to run with the flow of the carving, not with the frieze, or the chisel will tear as it crosses the joint. And the carving is done after assembly, on a table already standing - which means the carver is working on a piece that cannot be turned or clamped freely, at an awkward height, with every cut permanent.

It is a small detail that quietly decides whether the whole table looks made or assembled.

Material: Solid teak throughout - top, frieze, all five drawer boxes, legs, mirror frame and plinth, and stool frame. No veneer over engineered board.

Construction: Hand-carved cabriole legs with shell knees and scrolled toes, knee brackets carved across the joint after assembly, carved cartouche drawer fronts, oval mirror frame with pierced foliate crest and side scrolls on a carved plinth.

Storage: Two deck drawers and three frieze drawers. Counts, depths and internal fittings are configurable.

Mirror: Oval glass in a carved frame, table-standing. Any shape or size can be built.

Finish: Soft white with carving picked out a shade deeper, as photographed. Any tone or gilding can be specified.

Stool: Buttoned upholstered seat with carved rail on matching legs, included. Fabric is your choice.

Dimensions: Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Made: Handcrafted Indian luxury, produced to order by master Indian artisans.

The mirror, its carved crest, side scrolls and plinth come off the table and travel in a separate crate. The glass is faced, the frame backed with a rigid board, and the pierced crest and outward-curling scrolls given individual rigid guards - they project furthest and are the most fragile part of the set.

The table is wrapped in a soft non-abrasive layer laid straight onto the white finish, then covered in shaped foam. Each cabriole leg is sleeved individually along its full sweep, with additional protection at the shell knee and the scrolled toe. On an open-legged table the legs stand proud of everything else and meet doorframes first.

The carved knee brackets are bridged rather than pressed, so nothing bears on the carving that crosses the joint.

All five drawers are removed or secured shut. The stool travels in its own box with the buttoned seat covered and its legs padded one by one.

Everything goes into rigid, internally braced outer cartons. Dent-free arrival is guaranteed, and our team assembles the set in your room.

Free delivery is included anywhere in India, with no distance surcharge and nothing added at the end. Metros, tier-two cities and smaller towns are served on the same terms.

Production starts once your dimensions, mirror shape, drawer arrangement, finish and stool fabric are confirmed in writing. Carving across assembled joints has to be done on a finished frame, so the sequence is deliberate - we give you an honest timeline then and keep you updated as the set moves through joinery, carving, painting and finishing.

We dispatch through carriers experienced with carved solid wood and mirrored furniture, and send tracking details as soon as the set leaves us.

On arrival our team positions and levels the table, fits the mirror plinth and mounts the mirror, sets the stool and removes every piece of packaging. Dent-free arrival is guaranteed - if anything is not right, tell us and we will resolve it.

The solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty - the top, the frieze, all five drawer boxes, every leg joint and knee bracket, the mirror frame and plinth, and the stool.

On an open-legged table the leg joints carry everything, and they are the reason this guarantee is written the way it is. Each cabriole is carved from solid stock so the curve follows the grain, and each knee bracket is glued in and then carved across, which stiffens the corner as well as hiding the joint.

The mirror plinth is covered too. A standing mirror puts a turning load on whatever it sits on, so the plinth is jointed into the top rather than screwed onto it.

The teak carries a lifetime warranty against termite damage for as long as you own the set, from the oils in the timber rather than the paint over them.

If anything covered needs attention, send us your order details and photographs and our artisans will handle the repair or replacement.
