A floral high back chair in solid teak, made to order by master Indian artisans and finished by hand. The seat and bolster carry a rose print; the tall back is plain and deep-buttoned, which keeps the pattern from competing with the carving above it.

The proportions suit a bedroom window, a dressing corner or the head of a long room, where a tall back gives the seat presence without needing a second chair beside it. Arms are scrolled and padded to the outer face, so the chair can be sat in sideways as easily as squarely.

Choose your own fabrics for the two areas independently - a bolder print with a quieter ground, or a tonal pairing that lets the carved timber lead. The teak is finished in gilt, silver, ebonised black, walnut or clear natural, each laid by hand over the carving so the recesses stay open.

Handcrafted Indian luxury, built to your dimensions, warranted for 20 years on the frame and covered for life against termites. Delivery anywhere in India is free and the arrival is guaranteed dent-free.

The interesting part of a chair like this is not the carving - it is where the roses fall. A printed cloth has a repeat, and a repeat that lands badly puts half a flower at the front edge of the seat and another half on the bolster, so the two read as unrelated pieces of fabric that happen to share a colour.

Our upholsterer cuts the seat panel and the bolster from one continuous length rather than from separate offcuts. He lays the cloth out full, finds the row of roses that will sit centrally on the seat, and marks the bolster panel from the row immediately following it. When the two are made up and set in place, the pattern appears to run on from the seat into the bolster, because it does.

It costs cloth. Cutting for pattern rather than for economy means a length is used up faster than the panel areas alone would suggest. We buy the extra rather than nesting the pieces, and we tell the client the yardage honestly at the quoting stage.

The plain white back is the other half of that decision. Print against print would flatten both; print against a quiet buttoned ground gives the roses somewhere to sit.

Frame: solid teak throughout, hand-carved by master Indian artisans. Crest, arm scrolls and leg fronts are carved from the solid, not applied.

Joinery: mortise and tenon at the frame junctions, corner-blocked at the seat rail.

Back: tall, shaped and deep-buttoned, with a buttoning grid set out from the centre so the diamonds stay square as the back widens.

Seat and bolster: upholstered in your chosen printed cloth, cut for pattern continuity between the two.

Arms: padded inner and outer faces with carved teak scroll terminals.

Legs: cabriole front legs with a carved knee and shaped toe; carved and pierced apron between them.

Finish: hand-laid gilt as photographed; also available silvered, ebonised, walnut or natural teak.

Fabric: your choice of print and plain, or ours from the studio range.

Dimensions: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

The chair leaves us in multi-layer protective packaging built around its own shape. The upholstered back and seat are wrapped in soft non-abrasive sheeting first, so nothing firmer than cloth touches the fabric.

The carved crest, the arm scrolls and the leg toes are the parts that catch on a doorway, so each is individually padded with foam formed around the carving before the chair is wrapped as a whole. Recesses in the pierced apron are filled rather than bridged, which stops the wrapping from pressing into a delicate section under strapping.

Over that goes a full layer of bubble wrap, then a corrugated shell, then an outer crate sized to the chair. Corner protection is added at every load-bearing point so handling force reaches the crate and not the frame.

Unpacking is straightforward: cut the outer strapping, lift the shell away, and remove the wrap from the top down. Nothing needs to be levered and no fixing has to be undone.

Delivery is free anywhere in India, and we guarantee the chair reaches you dent-free. If it does not, that is our cost to put right and we say so before you order rather than after.

The chair is made to order, so production begins once the specification, the fabrics and the finish are confirmed in writing. We share the schedule at that point and update you as the carving, upholstery and finishing stages complete.

Dispatch happens when the finish has fully cured. We share tracking as soon as the crate leaves us, and our team coordinates the delivery slot with you directly rather than leaving it to an automated message.

On arrival, open the crate with the delivery team present and check the chair. Any transit issue is recorded there and then, and we act on it. Access is worth a thought in advance - a tall back needs door and stair clearance, and if you send us the measurements we build to a height that fits your route in.

The solid teak frame and its joinery carry a 20-year warranty. That covers the structural timber and the joints that hold it together - the parts that decide whether a chair is still sound in two decades.

Alongside it runs a lifetime warranty against termite damage. Teak's natural oils are the reason we can offer it, and we back that property with a written undertaking rather than leaving it as a claim on a page.

Both warranties are issued in writing with the chair and are tied to the order, so you have the document rather than an assurance you have to remember. If a covered fault appears, we ask for photographs first, then arrange repair or replacement of the affected part.

Upholstery, fabric and hand-applied finishes are consumable surfaces and sit outside the structural warranty, but we re-cover and re-finish our own chairs at any point in their life. Because the chair was made to order, we hold your specification on file and can match it years later.

Yes. The same carving is finished by hand in silver, ebonised black, walnut or clear natural teak as readily as in gilt. Each is laid by hand over the carving so the recesses stay open and the detail reads.

Yes. Every image on this page is a photograph of the actual chair we made, not a computer rendering, so what you see is the carving, the buttoning and the finish as they came out of the workshop.

Yes, and it is worth ordering them together. Made as a pair, both are carved alongside each other and the fabric for both is cut from the same roll, so the pattern and the colour match exactly across the two.
