Carved Teak Jhula with Its Own Stand

This is a two seater indoor swing in solid teak, finished in a warm red-brown polish and supplied complete with its own carved stand. Two carved uprights rise from heavy carved plinths and are joined by an arched top rail, and the seat hangs from that rail on metal chains, so the jhula is entirely freestanding and needs no ceiling fixing at all.

The seat carries a carved backrest rising to a pierced foliate crest, arms filled with jaali lattice and supported on carved elephants, and carved bands running along the front rail and seat frame. A cushioned seat pad and back cushion are upholstered in your choice of fabric. Every Brown Rabbit jhula is made to order, so the seat width, the stand height, the chain length, the finish and the upholstery are agreed with you before production and every dimension confirmed in writing. The solid teak and its joinery carry a 20-year warranty, termite damage is covered for the life of the piece, delivery anywhere in India is free, and our team assembles and balances it in your home.

A Jhula That Brings Its Own Ceiling

A jhula hung from the slab is a beautiful thing and it asks something of the building: a fixing into structural concrete, an installer confident about where the reinforcement runs, and in an apartment, usually a conversation with the society. Supplying the swing with its own stand removes all of that. The two carved uprights and the arched rail between them carry the entire load, the plinths spread it across the floor, and the jhula simply stands where you put it.

What that gives you is freedom. It can go on a balcony this year and in the living room next year. It can move house with you. It can be positioned to catch the light or the breeze and then repositioned when you rearrange the room. And because the stand is carved to the same standard as the seat, with turned uprights, carved capitals and foliate plinths, it reads as part of the piece rather than as a frame holding it up. Everything here is carved and polished by hand by master Indian artisans, and the photographs show the actual jhula.

Packing a Swing and Its Stand

The jhula ships as three protected elements: the two carved uprights with their plinths, the arched top rail, and the seat, each crated separately so nothing bears the weight of anything else. Assembling on site is also what lets the piece come through ordinary doorways, since the assembled stand is considerably wider than the parts that make it.

The carved plinths are the heaviest components and travel on full-bearing beds cut to their footprint. The uprights are wrapped along their length with the turned sections and carved capitals contour-padded so nothing presses on the relief. The arched rail is bedded to its curve so it is supported along the whole span rather than at its two ends. On the seat, the pierced crest and the jaali arm panels are protected by rigid boards standing clear of their faces, and the carved elephant supports are individually guarded. Chains are boxed separately so they cannot swing against the polish. Cushions travel uncompressed. Your jhula arrives dent-free with the carving crisp.

Free Delivery, Assembly and Balancing Across India

Delivery is free anywhere in India with no distance surcharge and nothing added to your invoice for freight. Production begins once your specification is confirmed, and we give you a realistic completion window at that point. If you are working towards a housewarming, a festival or a particular date, tell us at enquiry and we will plan the build around it.

Our team assembles the stand, hangs the seat, sets the chain length to the seat height you want and balances the swing so it hangs level and moves sweetly, then leaves it ready to use. Share your ceiling height and doorway measurements at enquiry along with the floor space available, and we will build the stand to suit your room. Because the jhula is freestanding, you can position it wherever you like on the day and move it later without any of it needing to be redone.

Warranty on This Jhula

The solid teak and its joinery are guaranteed for 20 years from delivery, and termite damage is covered for the entire life of the piece with no expiry. A swing carries a moving load rather than a static one, so the joints that matter most are where the arched rail meets the uprights and where the uprights meet the plinths. Those are cut and pinned into solid teak and sized for the seat width you order, and they are covered for the full term along with the seat frame and its hanging points. Termite cover has no end date because teak resists termites through the oils within the timber.

The chains and their fittings are supplied to suit the seat and are covered against manufacturing fault, and we service or replace them at any point in the life of the jhula. The polish is a serviceable surface: because the piece is polished rather than painted, the finish can be cut back and rebuilt in place without stripping it, so the jhula can be brought back to new whenever you wish. Cushions are reupholstered at any time in a fabric of your choosing. We do all of it for our own pieces at an honest price.
