An unstained bed is the simplest of all to maintain and renew. It can be sanded back and re-polished as many times as you like, and because there is no stain or paint to match, the result is always consistent. If you decide years later that you want it darker, the same bed takes a walnut or espresso finish without any preparation beyond sanding.
