This dark wood bed design is entirely carved teak - no upholstery, no gilding, no contrast colour - finished in a deep espresso. It comes as a set with two matching bedside chests.

A bed like this suits a room with pale walls and good light, where its darkness becomes an anchor rather than a weight. If your room is smaller or dimmer, the identical carving in walnut, mid brown or honey teak gives the same design in a lighter register, and we will suggest which fits from a photograph of the space.

If you would like padding where you lean, we build an upholstered panel into the headboard arch without changing anything else about the design. Tell us at the design stage.

Sizes are built to your room: king, queen, double or a custom width, with headboard height and post height set to your ceiling. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed with you in writing before production begins.

This is handcrafted Indian luxury from master Indian artisans. Solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty, the bed is covered for life against termite damage, and delivery anywhere in India is free with guaranteed dent-free arrival.

The palmette at the centre of this bed is one of the oldest ornaments still in use - a stylised fan of leaves that appears on Greek buildings, Egyptian columns and Indian temple pillars alike, in versions so similar that historians still argue about who took it from whom. It survived because it does something useful: it is symmetrical, it fills a circle or an oval naturally, and it reads clearly from a distance even when cut shallow.

Here it is not cut shallow. On a piece finished this dark, shallow carving disappears entirely - there is no colour contrast to reveal it and very little reflected light. So every form is cut deep and undercut hard, which is what lets the palmette read across a room on a bed that is almost black.

Our master Indian artisans work dark pieces in bright side lighting for exactly this reason. Under flat light a dark carved surface tells you almost nothing about how deep the cuts are, and it is possible to carve for a week and discover the piece looks flat once it is polished.

Material: Solid teak throughout, including headboard, posts, footboard, rails and the bedside chests. No upholstery.

Headboard: Arched panel with a carved palmette in a raised oval medallion, scrolling foliage across the panel, carved crest above the arch.

Posts: Four reeded corner posts with carved acorn-form finials.

Footboard: Large carved palmette at the centre flanked by two carved rosette roundels, scrolling foliage between, carved apron below, turned and carved feet.

Finish: Deep espresso as shown, and available in walnut, mid brown or honey teak.

Upholstery option: A padded panel can be built into the headboard arch if you want padding where you lean.

Bedside chests: Three drawers each, carved corner posts, moulded tops, carved feet. Included as shown, available in any quantity.

Sizes: Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Dark polished surfaces show scuffs more clearly than any other finish, so every face on this bed is covered first in a soft non-marking layer laid on loose, and nothing slides across it at any point.

The carved finials at the top of each post are collared in shaped foam that surrounds them without pressing on the tips, and the posts are cradled individually in their own boxes.

The palmette medallions and rosette roundels stand proud of their panels and are each given foam shells so packing bears on the shell rather than on the carving.

The carved apron beneath the footboard is supported from below, and the turned feet collared. Rails are bundled and edge-guarded, fittings sealed in a labelled pouch, and the chests packed with drawers secured. Everything is crated together with handling instructions. Every photograph here shows the actual bed before packing - not a render.

Delivery is free anywhere in India and included in the price you are quoted, with no freight, packing or handling charge added later.

Production begins once your size and finish are confirmed in writing. We give you a realistic timeline then and send photographs of your own bed as the palmettes are carved and the espresso polish built up in coats.

On arrival the bed is carried in and assembled in your bedroom: posts stood, headboard and footboard joined to the rails, everything levelled to your floor, the polish checked over, and the bedside chests placed where you want them. We guarantee dent-free arrival, and if anything is not right when you see it, tell us and we will make it right.

The solid teak frame and joinery are covered for 20 years - the headboard, the four posts, the footboard, the side rails, the feet and every joint between them. With no upholstery anywhere, the joinery is visible on this bed, which is a fair test of it and one we are happy to stand behind.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs with it for as long as the bed is yours, backed by teak's own resistance and confirmed in writing.

An all-wood bed is the simplest of all to renew. It can be sanded back and re-polished as many times as you like - in the same espresso or in a lighter tone if the room changes - and because the carving is cut into solid timber it keeps its definition through every refinishing. Fittings are replaceable with parts made for your piece. Our own master Indian artisans do the work and explain what it involves before starting.
