A lion throne chair in carved solid teak with a gold finish and a pair of carved lion heads at the arms. It is a wide, comfortable seat as much as a statement one - the arms are set far enough apart to sit in properly, which is not true of every chair in this style.

Master Indian artisans carve and turn every element by hand from seasoned solid teak. The lion heads are worked in the round, the corner columns are turned and then carved, and the crest shield, the beaded back border and the apron rosette are all cut from solid stock.

It is made to order. Choose the upholstery, the gold or silver tone, the seat width and the back height. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed in writing before production. It comes with a 20-year warranty on the teak frame and joinery, a lifetime warranty against termite damage, free PAN-India delivery with guaranteed dent-free arrival, and multi-layer protective packaging.

The two lion heads on this chair are mirror images of each other, and they were not carved one after the other.

The obvious way to make a pair is to finish the first, then use it as the model for the second. It never quite works. A carved face is a set of decisions - how far the brow drops, how wide the muzzle sits, how deep the eye is set - and copying a finished piece means re-deciding all of them from a three-dimensional reference rather than a drawing. Small differences creep in, and on a face the eye finds them instantly. One lion always ends up looking slightly kinder than the other.

So the pair is carved together, side by side on the bench, alternating. Both are blocked out, then both have the brows cut, then both the muzzles, then both the manes. Each stage is done twice in immediate succession, with the same tool, the same grip and the same decision fresh in the carver's hand.

They still are not identical - nothing carved by hand is. But they are the same expression, made the same way, minutes apart. That is why they read as a pair from across a room instead of as two lions who happen to be sitting on the same chair.

Frame: solid teak throughout, hand-carved and hand-turned by master Indian artisans, with traditional joinery at every junction.

Back: arched upholstered panel inside a carved and beaded border.

Columns: turned corner columns rising into pointed finials.

Crest: carved foliage around a central shield.

Arms: carved lion heads at both arm fronts, on carved panelled supports.

Seat: upholstered seat on a sprung and padded frame, above a moulded rail.

Apron: carved around a central rosette.

Legs: carved front legs finishing in full paw feet.

Upholstery: spotted print as photographed. Any fabric or leather can be used instead, including your own material.

Finish: hand-applied gold over the carving. Silver, champagne, antiqued tones or plain polished teak are also available.

Size: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Photography: images on this page are of the actual product, not renders.

Lion heads at the arm fronts project forward beyond every other part of this chair, so they meet an obstacle before anything else does - and they are packed accordingly.

Each head gets a deep shaped foam collar that stands proud of the muzzle, so contact lands on foam rather than on carving. The pointed finials at the tops of the columns get collars extending above their tips for the same reason, and foam sleeves run down the columns so they are supported along their length.

A soft non-abrasive layer covers all the gilded surfaces and the upholstery so nothing coarse touches either. The apron and paw feet are collared individually. Corrugated panels then build a rigid shell around the chair, with the base blocked and braced so the weight rests on the seat frame rather than the back. The outer carton is edge-reinforced so stacked weight in transit is carried by the packaging. Everything unwraps by hand, no blades needed.

Free PAN-India delivery is included in the price - no zone rates, no distance surcharge, no freight line at checkout. The chair reaches Belgaum for the same cost as Bareilly.

Dent-free arrival is guaranteed. It leaves in multi-layer protective packaging, travels with handlers briefed on gilded and figure carving, and is checked at every transfer point. If anything is not right when you open it, tell us and we make it right - the guarantee is ours to honour rather than the transporter's.

Because the chair is made to order, production begins once your upholstery, finish and measurements are confirmed in writing. You get a timeline then and updates as the chair moves through carving, turning, gilding and upholstery, followed by a dispatch note with an expected delivery window so the arrival is planned rather than a surprise.

The solid teak frame and joinery are covered for 20 years. That includes the seat frame, the arched back frame, the corner columns, the arm supports carrying the lion heads, and the carved legs. If a joint opens or a member fails within those twenty years, we repair or replace it.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs alongside it and never expires. Teak's own oils are what keep termites away, and our seasoning and finishing routine is designed to preserve them, so the timber is guaranteed for as long as the chair is yours.

A wide chair takes more racking load through its joints than a narrow one, simply because there is more leverage across it - which is exactly what a 20-year term on the joinery is meant to answer. It holds because the chair is made from start to finish in our own workshop by the master Indian artisans who build every piece we sell, from timber we season ourselves.
