Overview

This is a handcrafted solid teak wood TV unit in two parts, finished in hand-painted ivory with hand-laid silver-toned leaf on the carved work. The back panel is cut to a three-lobed shaped silhouette with moulded edges following the curve, topped by a large pierced carved crest and flanked by scrolled acanthus flourishes breaking outward at both shoulders, with freehand painted floral trails laid across the ivory field. The bow-front console below carries carved rosette panels to the outer fronts, a central carved cartouche flanked by pierced lozenge ventilation grilles, and sits on a deeply carved openwork base terminating in large scrolled feet.

The television mounts on the panel face, with the bracket position and cable route planned into the panel at manufacture. It suits a formal drawing room, a main hall, a large master bedroom or a hospitality suite. The pierced lozenge grilles are functional - they let equipment breathe and remote signals pass, so hardware can live behind closed fronts rather than sitting on an open shelf.

The Story Behind This TV Unit

A shaped silhouette is harder than a rectangular one for a reason that has nothing to do with carving: it has to be cut from wider stock and jointed so the grain runs correctly through every lobe, and a great deal of timber is wasted in the process. Cut it wrongly and the narrow waists between the lobes - the weakest points on the whole panel - split along the grain.

So the panel is drawn full-size first and the boards laid out around the silhouette rather than the silhouette being cut from whatever board is available. It is then framed and braced from behind, where nothing is seen, so a tall shaped panel stays flat.

The crest and shoulder flourishes are carved as separate compositions and pierced clean through. The console base is an openwork carved structure that is genuinely load-bearing rather than cosmetic. Then the ivory is built up in thin coats and cut back between each; the floral trails are laid on freehand over the finished ground, which is why no two panels are alike; and the leaf is applied by hand to the carving, burnished, and rubbed back at the high points. Both pieces are dry-assembled and photographed for your approval before dispatch.

Packaging and Transit Protection

The shaped panel is the difficult component. Its narrow waists between the lobes are its weakest points, so it is blocked into a crate cut to its own silhouette - foam supporting the outline continuously rather than only at the corners - with rigid boards on both faces so it cannot flex. The pierced crest and both shoulder flourishes are unshipped where possible and wrapped individually in high-density foam shaped around the openwork.

Every painted surface is faced with a soft interleaf before any foam contacts it, because a scuff on flat ivory cannot be touched in invisibly and a freehand floral trail cannot be repainted to match. The console fronts are removed and packed flat with rigid dividers between them; the carved openwork base and scrolled feet are unshipped and wrapped individually. Everything is blocked into skidded crates built to the weight, cross-braced, marked for orientation, fragility and lifting points, and photographed wrapped and sealed before dispatch.

Shipping and Delivery

This is made to your wall, so it begins with measurement: we take your wall width, ceiling height, television model and mount type, and issue a drawing for your approval before manufacture. Typical lead time is 10 to 14 weeks from drawing approval, extending for a larger panel, a bespoke colour or additional painted detail - freehand floral work and hand-laid leaf are separate stages that cannot be compressed. The unit is dry-assembled and photographed for your sign-off before it is dismantled for transit.

Delivery is free anywhere in India. Our team transports, unloads and assembles on site - securing and levelling the shaped panel, fitting the crest and shoulder flourishes, setting the console and its carved base, refitting the fronts and routing cabling to your television mount. Please confirm doorway and stair widths, lift internal dimensions, ceiling height and any service-entry restriction in advance, since the shaped panel is both tall and wide. International orders quoted case by case.

Craftsmanship Assurance and Care

Our craftsmanship assurance covers the solid teak panel and console, the carving, the joinery, the runners and the leaf work. If a joint opens, a panel bows, a carved element separates or a front runs badly because of a fault in the making - rather than through impact, misuse, water damage or work carried out by someone else - we repair or replace it. Freehand painted florals and hand-laid leaf vary between pieces; that is hand finishing, not a defect.

This is among the most delicate finishes we make and it needs dry, gentle care only. Use a clean dry soft brush on the pierced crest, the shoulder flourishes, the rosette panels, the cartouche and the carved base, working gently so nothing levers against a pierced rib. A soft dry cloth suits the painted ivory field and the console top - but take care over the floral trails, which sit on the surface and cannot be repainted to match once damaged. Never use water, chemical polish, alcohol or ammonia cleaners anywhere; solvents lift both paint and leaf. Keep the piece out of direct sunlight, which yellows ivory and fades painted work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this product.

Yes. Both the shaped panel and the console are genuine solid teak, hand-selected and seasoned before the bench. Painted and leafed furniture is where MDF usually hides, which is exactly why we confirm the wood in writing with your order.

It mounts on the face of the shaped back panel. The bracket position and cable route are planned into the panel at manufacture rather than drilled afterwards, so send us your television model and mount type at the enquiry stage.

This one has a three-lobed shaped silhouette rather than a squared panel, freehand painted floral trails across the field, and a heavier openwork carved base with large scrolled feet. It is the more sculptural of the two.

Yes, laid on freehand over the finished ivory ground, so no two panels are identical. Density, colour and placement can all be changed to your brief, or the florals omitted entirely.

Yes. The leaf tone shown is silver; gold leaf, or a combination, can be specified instead, and the ivory ground can be taken to cream or a matched shade. Bespoke colours need matching and approval before work begins.

They are ventilation grilles. They let equipment breathe and remote signals pass through, so set-top boxes and players can live behind closed fronts rather than sitting on an open shelf.
