Overview

This is a hand-carved solid teak wood arched wall mirror finished in soft antique silver, built around a shaped arched plate with narrow mirrored marginal panels to both sides. The design language is Rococo: an asymmetric crest built around a carved basket of flowers spilling over C-scrolls, acanthus breaking away at both shoulders, a beaded moulding holding the plate, foliate carving stepping down the stiles, and a scrolled shell apron at the base. The silver is antiqued rather than bright, so the recesses stay darker than the raised work and the carving reads by shadow.

It is made for cooler, lighter interiors - a bedroom in greys or blues, a pale drawing room, a dressing area, a bathroom wall away from direct steam, or a contemporary scheme where a gold mirror would look transplanted. Because silvered finishes sit naturally with chrome and nickel, it works where the rest of the hardware in the room is cool-toned. The marginal panels widen the reflected field. Crest composition, finish tone and size are all specified by you.

The Story Behind This Mirror

Silver is less forgiving than gold. A gilded surface hides a lot - warm tone flatters uneven carving and disguises tool marks. Silver does the opposite: it is cooler, flatter and more reflective, so every ridge that should be crisp and every hollow that should be clean is visible. Frames finished in silver are therefore sanded further and checked harder before finishing than their gold equivalents.

The carving comes first, in seasoned solid teak. The basket at the crest is shaped from the solid and then hollowed so it reads as a basket rather than a block, and the flowers spilling from it are cut individually, each on its own axis with a few still in bud - a mould-made spray always gives itself away by facing everything forward. The C-scrolls are cut deliberately asymmetric, because true Rococo is never mirror-imaged left to right.

Then the finishing: hand-sanding through progressive grits until no tool mark remains, silver laid in coats, and the antiquing worked back by hand so the recesses hold shadow and the raised edges come up bright. The marginal panels are glazed before the arched plate.

Factual specification for this hand-carved teak wood arched Rococo mirror:

  • Material: Solid teak wood, hand-carved (no veneer, no engineered wood)
  • Style: Rococo arched wall mirror, asymmetric crest
  • Finish: Soft antique silver, hand-applied and hand-antiqued so recesses hold shadow; the same design is available in gold, antique gold, distressed gold or dark wood polish
  • Frame detail: Carved flower basket crest spilling individually shaped blooms over asymmetric C-scrolls, acanthus at both shoulders, foliate carving down the stiles, beaded moulding to the plate, scrolled shell apron at the base
  • Glass: Shaped arched central plate with narrow mirrored marginal panels to both sides
  • Orientation: Wall-mounted, portrait
  • Size: Custom sizes made to order - share your wall dimensions and we will quote
  • Make: Made to order, handcrafted by master Indian artisans
  • Photography: Actual product photos and video shared before dispatch
  • Delivery: Pan-India, free shipping

Packaging and Transit Protection

Two risks drive the packing here: the individually carved flower heads at the crest, which snap, and the silvered surface itself, which marks more readily than gold and shows every scuff. So the whole frame is faced with a soft interleaf before any foam touches it. Each bloom, the basket and every projecting scroll are then wrapped individually in high-density foam and taped clear of the finish so no adhesive touches silver.

Both marginal panels are separately covered with a shatter-retention film and rigid-board faced, then blocked so they cannot flex; the arched plate is protected the same way. The frame is sleeved in a continuous foam blanket, corner-guarded at all four corners and set into a fitted wooden crate with foam blocking on every face so nothing can shift and rub on a long road journey. The crate is marked for orientation and fragility, strapped and sealed, and we photograph the piece wrapped and the crate closed before dispatch. On arrival, open against the packing list and check the crest blooms and the finish for marks before signing.

Shipping and Delivery

Every piece is carved and finished after you order. Typical lead time is 4 to 6 weeks from confirmation, and the silvering stage takes slightly longer than gilding because the surface preparation has to be taken further before finishing. Enlarging the frame or changing the crest composition pushes it toward the longer end. The exact timeline is confirmed in writing at order and we share progress photographs once the carving is closed and again after finishing, so you approve the actual tone before it ships.

Delivery is free anywhere in India. We arrange and manage transport and our team coordinates unloading and placement at your address rather than leaving a crate at the gate. Please tell us in advance about stairs, lift dimensions or society service-entry restrictions so the route can be planned. We advise on hanging hardware for your wall type - the marginal panels add glass weight, so fixing matters. International orders are quoted case by case on request.

Craftsmanship Assurance and Care

Our craftsmanship assurance covers the solid teak frame, the carving and the joinery. If a joint opens or a carved element separates through a fault in the making - rather than impact, misuse, unsuitable fixing or an attempted self-repair - we repair or replace it. Glass breakage after delivery and water damage are outside it.

Silvered finishes need one extra discipline compared with gold: keep them dry and keep chemicals away entirely. Moisture and household cleaners will dull or spot a silvered surface far faster than a gilded one, and the antiquing cannot be spot-repaired invisibly. Dust the flower basket, the blooms and the scrollwork with a clean dry soft brush, and use a soft dry cloth only on the beaded moulding and the apron. Never use water, chemical polish, alcohol or ammonia-based cleaners anywhere on the finish. Spray glass cleaner onto the cloth rather than at the plates so nothing runs behind the marginal glass. Keep the piece out of direct sunlight and well away from bathroom steam and air-conditioner outflow. Mount on a solid wall with anchors rated above the mirror weight and check the fixings once a year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this product.

Yes. The frame is genuine solid teak throughout, hand-selected and seasoned before carving. It is not veneer, MDF or engineered wood, and we confirm the wood in writing with your order.

Yes. The same frame is made in gold, antique gold, distressed gold or a dark wood polish. Silver is offered because it suits cool-toned schemes and nickel or chrome hardware, where gold can look transplanted.

Yes. The marginal panels flanking the arched plate are genuine mirror glass, which widens the reflected field so the mirror opens the wall rather than sitting flat on it.

Hand-carved. The basket is shaped and then hollowed from solid teak, and every bloom is cut individually on its own axis - which is why the spray does not read as a moulded repeat.

On a bathroom wall away from direct steam, yes. Keep it clear of the shower zone and any steam vent - silvered finishes dull faster in moisture than gilded ones, and the antiquing cannot be spot-repaired.

Typically 4 to 6 weeks from order confirmation, with the silvering stage adding a little time. Shipping is free anywhere in India and our team coordinates unloading and placement.
