A gilded teak entryway mirror with a climbing Florentine leaf frame, a foliate crest and a plain rectangular plate, hand-carved and made to order by Brown Rabbit.

Entrance walls are usually narrower than they are tall, and this design suits that. The carving runs vertically, so the mirror reads as tall even in a moderate width, and the crest carries the composition up toward the ceiling without adding bulk.

Hang it above a console and it becomes the place where keys are found and a last look is taken. Hang it on a return wall facing the door and it opens up the entrance by reflecting the room beyond, which makes a compact hall feel considerably less compact.

The leaf run can be carved denser or more open, the crest raised or lowered to suit your ceiling, and the gilding laid warm or pale against the wall colour. Custom sizes are made to order with final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

A repeating leaf that runs up a long side has a trap in it: repeat it faithfully and it starts to look stamped out.

So our artisans break the repeat deliberately. Each successive leaf in the run is curled a little differently from the one below - one turning its tip outward, the next rolling it back, the next opening flat - and the cycle is set to an odd count so it never lines up with the leaf directly opposite on the other side of the plate. The two sides answer each other without being copies.

The run is also stopped differently at each end. At the bottom the leaves turn into the base scroll; at the top they release into the crest. Neither end simply cuts off mid-pattern, which is what makes a climbing design look like it grew there rather than like a length of moulding that ran out.

None of this is visible as technique. It shows up only as the impression that the frame is alive, which is exactly the point.

Material: solid teak throughout, hand-carved by master Indian artisans.

Structure: rectangular inner frame carrying the plate rebate; carved leaf runs worked as panels and joined to the frame on all four sides; foliate crest and scrolled base apron joined in separately.

Finish: gold gilding over the carved surface, burnished along the leaf tips and the crest. Silver, ivory, champagne, black with gold and natural teak available.

Plate: plain mirror glass as photographed; bevelled plate available on request.

Hanging: concealed fixings supplied, rated for the finished weight, with fixing centres provided ahead of delivery.

Sizes: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Photography: images here are photographs of the actual product, not renders.

Every leaf tip on this frame stands clear of the surface behind it, which makes them the first thing any careless handling would find. They are packed accordingly.

Soft foam is worked in behind each leaf so the tips are supported from underneath rather than pressed from above, and the crest - the tallest and most exposed element - is given a moulded cap before anything else goes over it.

The plate is faced with film and backed with a cut board so the glass never takes load. The mirror is then wrapped in laminated foam and bubble wrap and set into a fitted wooden crate marked for orientation, and carried on edge.

Multi-layer protective packaging is standard on every order, and dent-free arrival is guaranteed. If anything is amiss when you open it, tell us and we put it right.

Free delivery anywhere in India is included in the price - no separate freight, no distance loading, no small-town surcharge.

Because the mirror is made to order, production begins once your size, plate and finish are confirmed in writing. We give a realistic production window at that stage and keep you posted as the piece moves through carving, gilding and crating.

The shipment is tracked and our team stays reachable throughout. Dent-free arrival is guaranteed, and honouring it is our responsibility.

Entrances can be awkward to get through. Tell us about any narrow door, tight stair or small lift when you order, and we plan the crate size and route around it before the piece leaves the workshop.

The solid teak frame and its joinery are covered for 20 years by Brown Rabbit. That includes the inner frame that carries the plate, the joints holding the carved leaf panels to it, and the crest and base attachments.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs with the mirror for as long as it is yours. Teak resists termites naturally through the oils in the timber, and we put that in writing rather than leaving it implied.

The gilding is laid and burnished by hand over dozens of curved leaf surfaces, so the shine differs slightly from leaf to leaf. That is what distinguishes a hand-gilded surface from a sprayed one.

Written warranty terms are issued with the order, so what is covered is clear before production begins.
