This is an entrance console table with a standing carved mirror, made to order in hand-carved solid teak. It is designed for the first thing people see when they come into a house - a surface at the door for keys and post, and a full mirror above it, as one piece rather than two.

Master Indian artisans carve both parts by hand from seasoned solid teak. The console apron and the whole mirror frame are pierced right through, so the wall shows behind the carving, and both are gilded in the same batch so the gold matches.

Sizes are set by you and scaled to each other. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed in writing before production. It comes with a 20-year warranty on the teak frames and joinery, a lifetime warranty against termite damage, free PAN-India delivery with guaranteed dent-free arrival, and multi-layer protective packaging.

This mirror does not hang. It stands on the console, and that changes what has to be built into both pieces.

A hanging mirror puts its weight into the wall and its own frame; the console below it is simply furniture. A standing mirror puts everything onto the console top - the weight, and more importantly the leverage, because the frame is tall and its centre of gravity is well above the surface it sits on. Push the top of a mirror like this and it wants to pivot on its own back edge.

So two things are built in. The mirror foot locates into a shallow rebate in the back of the console top, so it cannot slide forward at the base - which is how a standing mirror usually starts to go over. And a discreet stay fixes the frame back to the wall at high level, taking the tipping load into masonry rather than into the console.

The console itself is made deeper front to back than a plain one would be, so the mirror's weight sits over the frame rather than behind it. None of that is visible. It is the difference between a mirror that stands and one that leans.

Frames: solid teak throughout on both pieces, hand-carved by master Indian artisans, with traditional joinery at every junction.

Console top: shaped marble with a moulded edge. Other stones, glass or solid timber can be specified.

Console apron: pierced scrolling foliage with a carved centre.

Console legs: carved cabriole legs with paw feet, joined by a shaped carved stretcher.

Mirror: fully pierced carved frame with a tall openwork crest, locating into a rebate in the console top and stayed to the wall at high level.

Finish: hand-applied gold on both pieces, gilded in the same batch. Silver, champagne, antiqued tones or plain polished teak are also available.

Size: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Photography: images on this page are of the actual product, not renders.

The mirror and the console travel separately, and the mirror plate travels fitted in its frame, faced with a soft pad and a rigid card so nothing can flex against it.

Both pieces are pierced through most of their area, so foam is fitted into the larger openings of the console apron and the mirror frame, holding the carved bridges so they cannot move, with foam frames around the outer edges of each.

The marble travels in its own carton, edge-protected with dense foam and carried flat between rigid boards. The paw feet, the stretcher centre and the mirror crest each get shaped collars. A soft non-abrasive layer covers all gilded surfaces first. Corrugated panels build rigid shells, bases are blocked and braced, and every outer carton is edge-reinforced. Everything unwraps by hand.

Free PAN-India delivery covers the console, the mirror and the stone - no zone rates, no distance surcharge, no charge for the weight of the slab. The set costs the same delivered to Pune as to Patna.

Dent-free arrival is guaranteed on every carton. They leave in multi-layer protective packaging, travel with handlers briefed on mirror, stone and pierced gilded carving, and are checked at each transfer point. If anything is not right when you open any of them, tell us and we make it right - the guarantee sits with us, not with the transporter.

Because the set is made to order, production begins once your wall measurements, sizes, stone and finish are confirmed in writing. Send the wall length and ceiling height at enquiry - a standing mirror needs headroom, and it is better to size it before it is carved. You get a realistic timeline and a dispatch note with an expected delivery window.

Both frames carry a 20-year warranty on the solid teak and its joinery - the console's top frame, pierced apron, legs and stretcher, and the mirror's carved frame and its joints. If a joint opens or a member fails within those twenty years, we repair or replace it.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs alongside on both pieces, with no end date. Teak's natural oils are what termites avoid, and our seasoning and finishing routine is built around preserving them, so the timber is guaranteed for as long as the set is yours.

A standing mirror asks more of the console beneath it than a hanging one ever would, which is why the console is built deeper and the mirror foot is located rather than simply rested. Both are covered. All of it is made in our own workshop by the master Indian artisans who build everything we sell, from timber we season ourselves.
