A designer console table is one bought for the way it looks rather than only for the surface it provides - a piece chosen to be the thing people notice on the wall. This one is solid teak, hand-carved by master Indian artisans, gilded, and topped with veined marble.

The design is rococo in its grammar: an apron of interlocking C-scrolls pierced right through, a carved mask at the centre, cabriole legs finishing in scrolled toes, and a serpentine stretcher carrying a carved shell. Because the apron is open, the table reads light on the wall despite the density of the carving.

Every piece is made to order and fully customisable. Length, depth, height, marble variety and the depth of gilding are all yours to specify. Custom sizes are made to order with exact dimensions confirmed in writing before production.

The solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty plus lifetime cover against termite damage. Delivery is free anywhere in India, in multi-layer protective packaging with guaranteed dent-free arrival.

An apron like this is built from just two shapes: the C-scroll, which turns one way, and the S-scroll, which turns and then turns back. Everything on the front of this table is one of those two, joined end to end. The difficulty is that the eye is unforgiving about curves in a way it never is about straight lines.

A straight line is either straight or it is not, and you can check it against a rule. A curve has no rule to check against, so our master Indian artisans check it by hand and by light. The carver runs a thumb along the arris of the scroll, feeling for a flat spot where the curve momentarily stops turning, or a kink where it changes rate too quickly. Both are invisible in a drawing and obvious on a finished gilded surface, because gold turns every change of rate into a change of brightness.

Then the piece is turned to the light and looked at along the run of the apron rather than face on, which is how a flat spot shows itself as a dull patch in an otherwise travelling highlight. Only when the highlight runs continuously from one scroll into the next is the carving considered finished.

Material: solid teak throughout, hand-carved. No veneer, no engineered board.

Top: veined marble slab with a serpentine front and a hand-moulded edge following the shaped frame.

Carving: apron pierced through in interlocking C-scrolls with a carved mask and pendant at the centre; carved cabriole legs with scrolled toes; serpentine stretcher with a carved shell at the crown.

Finish: hand-applied gilding over the carved timber, sealed for durability.

Construction: traditional joinery, ornament cut from the solid, every curve checked by hand and by raking light before finishing.

Sizes: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Made to order: length, depth, height, marble variety and gilding depth chosen by you.

Warranty: 20 years on the solid teak frame and joinery; lifetime cover against termite damage.

Photography: images show the actual product, not renders.

Open scrollwork has a great many free edges, and each of them is a point that would take the impact if a crate were knocked. Packing here is about keeping pressure off every one of them.

A soft non-abrasive layer goes against the gilding first, so nothing rubs the surface. Foam is then cut to sit around the pierced apron, the mask and the scrolled toes rather than pressed flat against them, and the stretcher's carved shell is given its own shaped block.

The marble travels flat on a padded board with edge guards on all four sides, packed separately from the frame so no weight rests on the stone at any stage.

Frame and top go into a rigid outer crate with cushioning on every face and strapping that stops anything shifting in transit. This multi-layer protective packaging is why we guarantee dent-free arrival. Please unpack and inspect while the delivery team is still with you.

Delivery is free across India. No freight charge, no distance surcharge, and no price difference between a metro address and a smaller town.

Because every designer console table is made to order, production begins after your dimensions, marble and finish are confirmed in writing. We share the build timeline at that point and keep you updated through carving, gilding and marble fitting.

When the table is complete it is packed as described and dispatched with a carrier experienced in moving carved furniture and stone. You are contacted before delivery so someone can be present to receive and inspect it.

Arrival is guaranteed dent-free. If any damage has occurred in transit, photograph it with the delivery team present and contact us - we will resolve it. The marble is set onto the frame at your address rather than travelling assembled, which makes carrying the piece through a doorway or up a stair much simpler.

Twenty years on the solid teak frame and its joinery, from the day the table reaches you. That covers the leg joints, the pierced apron, the stretcher connections and the bed on which the marble sits.

The table also carries lifetime cover against termite damage - for the life of the furniture, not a fixed term. Properly seasoned solid teak carries its own oils, which termites avoid, and with the piece built in teak throughout there is no board core for them to reach.

If a warranty issue arises, send photographs and we will assess and repair or replace. Repairs to scrolled gilded work are done by artisans working in the original techniques, and the same light check is applied afterwards, so a repaired scroll carries its highlight continuously into the ones beside it. Both warranties apply anywhere in India and stay with the furniture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this product.

The frame is the design. Instead of a straight apron on four legs, every member is drawn as a curve and the apron is pierced through in interlocking scrolls, so the piece is meant to be looked at rather than only used.

Yes. Length, depth and height are all yours to specify, and the scroll pattern is set out afresh at that size so the apron reads correctly rather than being stretched. Custom sizes are made to order with exact measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Any stone you like. The top shown is a soft veined marble, and it can equally be built in white, grey, green, black or a strongly figured slab. The moulded edge is cut to follow whichever you choose.

No. The same carving can be silvered, finished in a dark ground with gilded highlights, or polished in natural teak so the scrollwork reads in the timber itself. Tell us the effect you are after.

Anywhere it can be seen straight on - an entrance wall, a landing, a dining room wall or behind a sofa in a large sitting room. Because the apron is pierced, it also suits a wall you do not want to visually block.

Very little. A soft dry brush through the recesses and a soft cloth over the raised surfaces is all a sealed gilded finish needs.

20 years on the solid teak frame and its joinery, plus lifetime cover against termite damage, anywhere in India.

Yes, anywhere in India. Frame and marble travel in separate multi-layer protective packaging and the table is guaranteed to arrive dent-free.
