Overview of this rose gold carved bed frame

This luxury bed frame is built in solid teak, hand carved and finished in rose gold with gilded highlights picked out on the footboard rosettes and headboard crest. White tufted panels fill the headboard wings, the headboard centre and the footboard. Matching bedside chests are supplied in the same finish.

Beneath the decoration it is a properly engineered frame. Solid teak slats run across a reinforced centre rail carried on its own legs, so the load path from the mattress reaches the floor in the middle of the bed as well as at the sides. Slat spacing is set to suit the mattress you are actually buying, because a pocket spring mattress and a dense foam mattress want different support.

Rose gold reads warmer and pinker than champagne and cooler than antique gold. It works against ivory, blush, soft grey and white walls, and pairs naturally with white or blue bedding. Custom sizes are made to order in king size, queen size, double or a dimension you specify.

The story of what holds the mattress up

For most of furniture history a bed was a frame with rope. Holes were bored through the side rails and a cord was laced across in a grid, and the mattress, a stuffed sack, sat on top of it. The rope stretched constantly, and a bed key was kept in the room to tighten it, which is where the phrase about sleeping tight comes from.

Rope gave way to iron laths, then to wooden slats, and the argument moved to how slats should be arranged. Too far apart and a foam mattress deforms between them. Too close and airflow drops, which matters in humid climates where a mattress needs to breathe from below. Indian workshops settled on solid wood slats at moderate spacing precisely because of the monsoon.

Our artisans still build the platform from solid teak rather than from plywood or engineered board, and still fit a centre rail with its own legs on every bed above queen width. It costs more timber and more labour, and none of it is visible once the mattress is on. It is the part of the bed that decides whether the piece is still comfortable in fifteen years.

We do not publish fixed dimensions or weight, because the frame is built around your mattress. Send the mattress length, width and thickness and we will confirm both the internal opening and the finished external footprint in writing before production.

Packaging

This bed ships as a frame in parts, which is deliberate: a bed that is built to be assembled cleanly also packs more safely than one shipped whole. The slats and centre rail are bundled together, edge-protected and labelled, so nothing loose moves inside the crate and scores a finished surface.

The upholstered panels are covered in a breathable cloth with foam laid over the buttons so the tufting is never compressed. The rose gold carving is wrapped separately in foam sheeting, built up at the headboard crest, the wing edges and the footboard rosettes, which are the most exposed points. No adhesive tape touches a finished or upholstered surface.

Everything travels in wooden crates built for this piece with internal bracing. All hardware is bagged, labelled by component and fixed inside the main crate, along with an assembly sequence. Ask us for crate dimensions before dispatch if your lift or staircase is restricted.

Shipping

We deliver this bed across India and accept international orders. It is made to order, so dispatch follows the production window confirmed in writing at the time of order.

Indian deliveries move by covered transport with crates braced against movement and are delivered to your address. The carved headboard is the largest component. Please confirm lift dimensions and staircase turns before production; where access is tight the headboard can be built to separate at a concealed joint behind the upholstery line.

Home assembly is arranged in most Indian cities. Because this frame includes a centre rail and centre legs, assembly matters: the centre legs must be set to bear on the floor, not left hanging just short of it, and our team sets them correctly. International orders are quoted per destination with export-grade crating and documentation, and destination duties and taxes are the buyer's responsibility.

Warranty

Brown Rabbit warrants the solid teak frame, the slats, the centre rail, the joinery and the hand carving against manufacturing defects. If a slat cracks, a centre leg fails or a joint loosens because of a fault in the making, we repair or replace it. This structural cover is the part of the warranty that matters most on a bed frame, and it is the part we are most confident about.

Upholstery workmanship, including button seating and panel tension, is warranted against defects. Wear, staining, marks from hair oil or cosmetics and fading in direct sunlight are not covered. White upholstery at head height shows marks sooner than darker colours; this is a characteristic of the colour, not a fault.

The rose gold finish is warranted against flaking or lifting caused by defective application. Natural mellowing with age and light is expected. Damage from moisture, chemical cleaners, overloading the frame, independently arranged transport, or repairs attempted by others falls outside the warranty. Full terms are issued in writing with your order.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this product.

Yes. Above queen width, side rails alone cannot carry the middle of the mattress, and a dip forms down the centre within a couple of years. Every Brown Rabbit bed at king width and above is built with a reinforced centre rail carried on its own legs to the floor, so the load path reaches the floor in the middle as well as at the sides.

Slats are generally better in India because they let the mattress breathe from below, and a mattress releases moisture downward every night. A solid platform traps that moisture. The exception is a very soft foam mattress, which needs closer slat spacing so it does not deform between the gaps.

Pocket spring mattresses tolerate wider spacing; foam and latex mattresses need slats closer together so the mattress is not pushed into the gaps. Tell us which mattress you are buying and we will set the spacing accordingly before production, rather than fitting a single standard and hoping it suits.

Give us the exact mattress length, width and thickness before production. We build the internal opening to those numbers and then confirm both the internal opening and the finished external footprint to you in writing. Indian mattress sizes vary between brands, so measuring your actual mattress beats relying on the label.

Squeaks come from movement at the joints, usually where rails meet posts and where slats sit in their housings. They are prevented at the making stage with tight mortise and tenon joinery, bolted rail fixings that can be retightened, and slats seated so they cannot shift. A bed that squeaks in year one was built loose.

Yes. King size, queen size, double or any dimension you specify, including sizes no standard mattress will match. If you ask for a non-standard size we will tell you in advance that the mattress will also need to be made to order, so you are not left with a bed and no mattress to fit it.
