A rocking chair with a matching footstool, in carved solid teak finished in champagne gold with deep-buttoned cream leather. The pair is meant for real reclining - the back is raked well past upright and the stool brings your legs up in line with it, so you are supported from head to heel.

Master Indian artisans build both pieces by hand from seasoned solid teak. The scroll carving on the arm supports and the side panels is cut from solid stock, and the champagne finish is laid over it so the ornament reads in soft light rather than hard shine.

The set is made to order. Choose the upholstery, choose the finish, set the recline and set the sizes. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed in writing before production. It comes with a 20-year warranty on the teak frames and joinery, a lifetime warranty against termite damage, free PAN-India delivery with guaranteed dent-free arrival, and multi-layer protective packaging.

Before any wood is cut for a set like this, the whole thing is drawn once - full size, in pencil, on a flat board. Not a scaled drawing on paper. Full size, one to one.

The reason is the relationship between the chair and the stool. The stool has to put your ankles at the height your knees are already at, or your legs hang or fold and the recline stops working. That height depends on the seat height, which depends on the rocker arc, which depends on the recline of the back. Change any one and the others move. On paper at a tenth scale, a two-millimetre pencil line is two centimetres of real error, and by the time three of those have stacked up the stool is simply the wrong height.

So the board carries the true curve of the rocker, the true angle of the back, the true seat line and the stool sitting where it belongs against them. Every component is then taken directly off that board with a stick, marked and cut - no arithmetic in between, and so no rounding.

It is an old drawing-office habit and it is why the two pieces look like they were designed together. They were, on one board, before either existed.

Frames: solid teak throughout on both pieces, hand-carved by master Indian artisans, with traditional joinery at every junction.

Chair back and seat: a single reclined curve, deep-buttoned from the head rest to the front edge.

Arms: shaped arms on carved scrolled supports, with carved side panels beneath.

Rockers: matched shaped bows cut from a single template, joined by a turned stretcher.

Footstool: curved and deep-buttoned to match, on a carved scrolled base.

Upholstery: cream buttoned leather as photographed. Any leather or fabric can be used instead, including your own material.

Finish: champagne gold hand-applied over the carving. Gold leaf, silver, antiqued tones or plain polished teak are also available.

Recline: set to your preference before production.

Size: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production, for both the chair and the stool.

Photography: images on this page are of the actual product, not renders.

The chair and the stool are packed separately, because a curved stool nested against a curved chair would press on exactly the buttoned surfaces both of them lead with.

On the chair, shaped foam blocks cradle the rocker bows so it sits still and its weight is spread. Foam collars go on the arm scrolls, the carved side panels, the top of the back and the rocker ends. A soft non-abrasive layer covers the champagne finish first so nothing coarse touches it. The stool gets the same treatment around its carved base and curved ends.

Corrugated panels then build a rigid shell around each piece, with edge-reinforced outer cartons so stacked weight in transit is carried by the packaging rather than the frames. The buttoned leather on both is covered in a breathable wrap that keeps dust out without pressing on the buttons or trapping moisture against the hide. Everything lifts away by hand, no blades needed.

Free PAN-India delivery covers both pieces. No zone pricing, no distance surcharge, no separate charge for the stool - the set costs the same delivered to Surat as to Srinagar.

Dent-free arrival is guaranteed on both. They leave in multi-layer protective packaging, travel with handlers briefed on carved and hand-finished furniture, and are checked at every transfer point. If anything is not right when you open either carton, tell us and we put it right - the guarantee is ours, not the transporter's.

Since the set is made to order, production begins once your upholstery, finish, recline and measurements are confirmed in writing. You get a timeline at that point, updates as both pieces move through carving, finishing and upholstery, and a dispatch note with an expected delivery window so the arrival is planned.

Both frames - the chair and the footstool - are covered for 20 years on the solid teak and its joinery. That includes the rockers and their joints, the long back frame that carries the recline, the seat frame, the arm supports, and the stool's carved base. If a joint opens or a member fails within those twenty years, we repair or replace it.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs alongside, with no end date, on both pieces. Teak's natural oils are what termites avoid, and our seasoning and finishing routine is built to preserve them, so we guarantee the timber for as long as the set is yours.

These terms exist because both pieces are made from start to finish in our own workshop by the master Indian artisans who build everything we sell, from timber we season ourselves. Your warranty is registered automatically with the order - nothing to post, nothing to keep - and your order number opens a claim whenever you need it.
