This blue velvet sofa is a corner unit with pierced fretwork arms, built in solid teak with a white carved frame.

It is made to your room. Send us the two wall lengths, the door and window positions and how many people you want to seat, and we build the runs to those dimensions. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed with you in writing before production begins.

The two-fabric scheme shown - plain velvet back, damask seats - is one approach, and a single fabric throughout is equally available. Send us your own materials or tell us the colours you want and we will source options and send photographs before cutting.

The frame is white here, and equally ivory, champagne, silver, gold, walnut or natural teak.

One practical note worth knowing at the design stage: the fretwork arms are open, so they do not block light or view, but they are also not a surface to lean a cushion against. If you want a closed arm at one end, we build that instead - it is your choice before the frame is cut.

This is handcrafted Indian luxury from master Indian artisans. Solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty, the sofa is covered for life against termite damage, and delivery anywhere in India is free with guaranteed dent-free arrival.

Pierced panels at the ends of seating come from the same tradition as the carved jaali screen, and they solve the same problem in miniature. A long sofa closes off whatever is behind it; cut the ends through and the room continues past the furniture instead of stopping at it. In a drawing room where a corner sofa occupies two walls, that can be the difference between a room that feels furnished and one that feels full.

Structurally it is the more demanding option. A solid arm panel braces the frame; a pierced one has to be engineered so the load runs through the remaining sections of timber, which means the pattern is designed around the structure rather than drawn first and cut afterwards.

Our master Indian artisans lay out the fretwork so the heaviest scrolls fall where the arm meets the seat rail and the finest work sits at the top, where nothing is carried. It looks like a decorative choice and it is actually a structural one - which is generally how good carving works.

Material: Solid teak frame throughout, including back, arm panels, corner section, apron and legs.

Arms: Large carved panels pierced right through in scrolling fretwork at both ends; closed upholstered arms available instead.

Back: Plain velvet, deep buttoned in a diamond grid along the full length, with carved crests above each run and above the corner.

Seat: Damask cushions in a complementary weave, so seat and back separate without a second colour.

Corner: Full usable seat with a gently curved plan so the buttoning carries round without a break.

Apron and legs: Carved apron along both runs, short carved cabriole legs.

Upholstery: Shown in blue velvet and blue and silver damask; any fabrics and colours, in one weave or two.

Finish: White as shown, and available in ivory, champagne, silver, gold, walnut or natural teak tones.

Sizes: Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

The pierced arm panels are the most fragile components on this sofa and are packed first. Shaped foam is pressed into the fretwork from both faces so every scroll is supported rather than left free to flex, and each panel is then boxed rigidly on its own.

Velvet crushes permanently under pressure, so the buttoned back is bagged in a breathable cover and all firm packing bears on the carved frame.

The carved crests above the runs and the corner are given shaped foam shells, and the carved apron is protected from beneath as well as around.

Damask seat cushions travel separately so nothing compresses them. White surfaces are covered first in a soft non-marking layer, since pale finishes show every scuff. Cabriole legs are wrapped individually and fittings pouched.

Everything is crated together, labelled in assembly order, with handling instructions marked outside. Every photograph here shows the actual sofa before packing - not a render.

Delivery is free anywhere in India and included in the price you are quoted, with no freight, packing or handling charge added later.

Production begins once your dimensions, fabrics and finish are confirmed in writing. We give you a realistic timeline then and send photographs of your own sofa as the fretwork arms are cut and the upholstery built.

On arrival the sections are carried in and assembled in your room, the runs linked at the corner and levelled, the arm panels fitted last, and the cushions placed. Tell us your lift dimensions, staircase turns and doorway widths when you order and we size the sections to your access. We guarantee dent-free arrival, and if anything is not right, tell us and we will make it right.

The solid teak frame and joinery are covered for 20 years - the back frame, the pierced arm panels, the corner section, the apron, the legs and every joint between them. A pierced arm carries its load through the remaining timber rather than through a solid panel, so it is engineered specifically for that, and the warranty stands behind it.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs with it for as long as you own the sofa, backed by teak's own resistance and confirmed in writing.

Two-fabric upholstery is straightforward to renew, and you can change one without the other - new seat cushions in a different weave against the existing back, for instance. We keep the specification of your exact sofa on file, including both fabrics, the buttoning plot and the run lengths, so anything made later fits. Our own master Indian artisans do the work and explain it beforehand.
