This is a sofa set for a living room used by a family and its guests together - long enough to seat everyone along one wall, with a chaise end for whoever gets there first.

It is built to your room. Send us the wall length, the door and window positions and which hand you want the chaise on, and we build the frame to those dimensions. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed with you in writing before production begins.

Champagne is shown, and any fabric and colour is available - send us your own material or tell us what you want and we will source options and send photographs first. The carved frame can be finished in champagne, ivory, gold, silver, walnut or natural teak tones.

Matching armchairs, a settee or a low carved centre table can be built to the same design if you want the whole room to read as one commission.

This is handcrafted Indian luxury from master Indian artisans. Solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty, the sofa is covered for life against termite damage, and delivery anywhere in India is free with guaranteed dent-free arrival.

A serpentine back is one of those details that costs a great deal and announces itself very quietly. Straight-backed sofas are quicker to frame, quicker to upholster and far easier to button, because every diamond sits on a flat plane. Curve the back in two directions and the buttoning grid has to be plotted onto a surface that is changing shape under it - each diamond slightly different from its neighbour, each button pulled to a different depth.

Get it wrong and the pattern visibly wanders. Get it right and nobody notices anything except that the sofa looks expensive.

The curved chaise at the end comes from the same instinct. A square corner would stop the serpentine dead; sweeping the seat round in plan lets the curve keep going until it runs out naturally.

Our master Indian artisans plot the buttoning full size on the finished frame before a single button is set, marking each position by hand on the curve itself rather than working from a flat drawing. It is slow, and it is the only method that survives the shape.

Material: Solid teak frame throughout, including back, arm, chaise, apron and legs.

Back: Continuous serpentine rising and falling along the full length, buttoned in a fine diamond grid that follows the curve, four carved crests with small carved rosettes between them.

Chaise: Curved open plan with no back, sweeping outward to resolve the run.

Arm: High scrolled arm with a deep carved volute and a rolled bolster.

Apron and legs: Deeply carved scroll and flower apron running the entire length, short carved cabriole legs.

Upholstery: Shown in champagne, and made in any fabric and colour you choose.

Finish: Champagne as shown, and available in ivory, gold, silver, walnut or natural teak tones.

Matching pieces: Armchairs, settee and low carved centre table can be built to the same design.

Sizes: Custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

The sofa travels in sections with joints engineered for assembly in your room, each packed separately and labelled in assembly order.

A serpentine back has no flat face to pack against, so each section is crated to its own profile with shaped support following the curve, rather than being forced against a straight board.

Upholstered surfaces are bagged in breathable covers and firm packing bears only on the carved frame - never on the buttoned back or the seat cushions.

The four carved crests and the rosettes between them stand proud and are given shaped foam protection. The high arm volute is collared along its curve, and the deeply carved apron is supported from beneath as well as around.

Cabriole legs are wrapped individually, fittings pouched. Everything is crated together with handling instructions. Every photograph here shows the actual sofa before packing - not a render.

Delivery is free anywhere in India and included in the price you are quoted, with no freight, packing or handling charge added later.

Production begins once your dimensions, chaise hand, fabric and finish are confirmed in writing. We give you a realistic timeline then and send photographs of your own sofa as the serpentine frame is shaped, the carving cut and the buttoning plotted.

On arrival the sections are carried in and assembled in your room, the frame levelled and the curve checked along its length, and the piece positioned where you want it. Tell us your lift dimensions, staircase turns and doorway widths when you order so we can size the sections to your access. We guarantee dent-free arrival, and if anything is not right, tell us and we will make it right.

The solid teak frame and joinery are covered for 20 years - the serpentine back frame, the arm, the curved chaise, the apron, the legs and every joint between them. A curved back frame is built from shaped sections rather than straight rails, which means more joints than an ordinary sofa, and each of them is cut and fitted to hold the curve permanently.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs with it for as long as you own the sofa, backed by teak's own resistance and confirmed in writing.

Re-covering a serpentine back is work that depends entirely on having the original buttoning plot, and we keep it - along with the frame dimensions and the chaise hand - on file for your exact sofa. That means a re-cover years from now follows the same grid rather than being plotted from scratch. Cushions can be refilled at the same time and the finish re-laid. Our own master Indian artisans do the work and explain it beforehand.

Yes. It is built on whichever hand your room needs, and that is decided before the frame is cut. Send us your layout and we will advise which side works.

Because it makes the sofa read as one carved object rather than a row of seats. It is considerably harder to frame and to button, which is why most sofas this size are built straight.
