Overview

This is a royal luxury handcrafted carved teak wood bed finished in antique white with silver highlights on the carving. The headboard is a tall pierced composition rising to a carved urn spilling flowers, with Greek key panels, scrolled acanthus wings, and taupe button-tufted leather panels set into the carved frame. The footboard is equally worked: a full-height carved assembly with three separate tufted leather panels, a central carved cartouche, Greek key borders and heavy scrolled feet. Matching bedside cabinets with carved fronts complete the arrangement.

The unusually substantial footboard is the design's signature and gives the bed a strong presence from the bedroom doorway, where the foot of the bed is what you see first. It suits a large master bedroom, a farmhouse or a hotel suite. Made to order in king size, queen size, double or any custom dimension, with the footboard supplied full height, reduced, or omitted to your preference.

The Story Behind This Bed

Whether to have a footboard is a decision worth making deliberately rather than by default, and it turns on three things.

Room length. A tall footboard visually shortens a room, because it interrupts the floor line. In a bedroom under about twelve feet long, that is a real effect. In a large room it does the opposite, giving the bed a defined end rather than letting it drift.

Who sleeps in it. Anyone over about six feet tends to dislike a high footboard, because feet meet it. A reduced-height footboard solves this and keeps most of the visual benefit.

Bedding. A footboard genuinely stops quilts and sheets sliding off the end, which is more useful than it sounds.

There is also a practical construction point. A tall footboard is a structural member joining both side rails at the foot, so it stiffens the whole frame. Beds built without one need heavier side rails and a stronger corner fixing to compensate - which we do as a matter of course when a customer asks for the footboard to be left off.

Factual specification for this royal luxury carved teak wood bed:

  • Material: Solid teak wood frame, hand-carved (no veneer, no engineered wood in load-bearing members)
  • Style: Baroque carved bed with tall carved and tufted footboard
  • Finish: Antique white with silver highlights on the carving; customisable to gold leaf, ivory and gold, full white, or dark wood polish
  • Headboard: Pierced carving rising to a carved urn and flower crest, Greek key panels, scrolled acanthus wings, taupe button-tufted leather panels within the carved frame
  • Footboard: Full-height carved assembly with three tufted leather panels, central carved cartouche, Greek key borders and scrolled feet; supplied full height, reduced height, or omitted - specify at order
  • Frame note: Where the footboard is omitted, side rails are upsized and corner fixings strengthened to compensate for the lost structural member
  • Sizes: King size, queen size, double, single or any custom dimension - frame cut to your exact mattress
  • Matching pieces: Bedside cabinets, dresser and wardrobe available
  • Delivery: Pan-India, free shipping, assembled on site

Packaging and Transit Protection

This bed has two large carved components rather than one: the headboard and an unusually substantial footboard, each of which needs full crate protection. Both travel flat in individual cross-braced crates with rigid boards on both faces, with pierced carving foam-cradled continuously and projecting crest, wing and scroll elements individually wrapped.

The tufted leather panels on both boards are protected with standoff blocking bridging over the buttons and covered in soft breathable cloth - never sealed plastic against leather, which needs to breathe. White finishes show every contact mark, so no adhesive tape touches the frame at any point; wrapping is secured to protective layers only. Side rails are edge-protected along their full length. Fittings bagged, labelled and packed with the assembly drawing. All crates corner-guarded, marked for orientation and lifting points, photographed sealed before dispatch.

Shipping and Delivery

Before manufacture we need your mattress dimensions, your ceiling height, and - specific to this design - your room length, since a tall footboard affects how a shorter bedroom reads. We will tell you honestly if we think a full-height footboard is wrong for your room. Typical lead time is 10 to 12 weeks from order confirmation, longer with matching cabinets, dresser or wardrobe.

Delivery is free anywhere in India - Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and elsewhere. Our team carries components up, assembles the bed in the room, levels it and removes packaging. Note that this design has two large boards to bring in rather than one, so the access route matters twice over - send us the tightest point before manufacture. International orders quoted case by case.

Craftsmanship Assurance and Care

Our craftsmanship assurance covers the solid teak frame, its joinery, the mattress support and the hand-carving. If a joint works loose, a rail fails or a carved element separates because of a fault in the making - rather than through impact, misuse, sitting or standing on the footboard, or an attempted self-repair - we repair or replace it. Leather panels and foam are consumable components covered separately.

Do not sit on the footboard. It is a carved and upholstered structural rail, not a bench, and repeated sitting is the commonest way a footboard joint is loosened - if you want somewhere to sit at the foot of the bed, we build a matching bench. Wipe the tufted leather panels with a barely damp cloth and dry immediately, never with household cleaner. Clean the pierced white carving with a clean dry soft brush; a damp cloth on a matte white finish drives dust into the paint and greys it over time. Tighten all fixings a fortnight after assembly and check them when the bed is moved.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this product.

It turns on room length, height of the sleepers and bedding habits. A tall footboard finishes the bed and stops bedding sliding off, but visually shortens a room under about twelve feet and can feel restrictive to anyone over six feet. A reduced-height footboard is the usual compromise.

Yes. We also upsize the side rails and strengthen the corner fixings when we do, because the footboard is a structural member tying the rails together - removing it without compensating is how beds develop movement.

In a short room, yes - it interrupts the floor line and shortens the view. In a large room it does the opposite, giving the bed a defined end rather than letting it drift. Tell us your room length and we will advise honestly.

No. It is a carved and upholstered structural rail, not a bench, and repeated sitting is the most common way a footboard joint is loosened. If you want seating at the foot of the bed, we build a matching carved bench in the same finish.

King size, queen size, double, single or any custom dimension. We cut the frame to your exact mattress rather than to a size chart, and the carving is redrawn in proportion for each size rather than stretched.

A clean dry soft brush only on the carving. Never a damp cloth on a matte white finish - it drives dust into the paint and greys it over time, which is very hard to reverse across dense carving. Wipe leather panels with a barely damp cloth and dry at once.
